I agree. Sets it up for other boys to go out and do the same. He got eight years for rape and murder, then he would have got two for rape alone. Boys would like that ok. Sets a bad precedent.
At 9.00 the Police officer says he accused the boy, and he never batted an eyelid, or reacted “suspiciously” in any way. The fact that the boy didn’t react, when accused of rape and murder, IS SUSPICIOUS! If someone accuses you of raping and murdering a child, and you are innocent, you are going to really react, and get offended at the accusation. This is a huge red flag, and the fact the Police Officer says he did not react suspiciously when accused, is naive.

No you misunderstood. The kid was a suspect in the polices eyes the whole time. He was just trying to highlight how calculated and amazingly calm this kid was with no reaction.

Kids are resilient aren't they. I would say he bounced back quite quickly. If a cop were to accuse me. I wouldn't scream I didn't do anything. I would instantly get a lawyer. Mind you I think my eyeballs would pop wide open in surprise. With a WTF look on my face.

@@bwghall1 In Canada if they are a juvenile at the time the crime is committed they can only receive 8 years. At 17 they can be tried as an adult, but even then, life in prison is 25 years. It is not the same as the American Judicial system. Unless an adult is given a dangerous offender label in Canada, they are not going to be in jail for more than 25 years for a single crime.

My mother would know when something was wrong with me. I'd be going through something and I'd get home and there'd be a message that she was worried and wanted to know how I was.

I have had the same experience so many times! At first my son was startled to hear that I knew that he was troubled, but soon he became used to it. I still ask him if all is well when I feel something is amiss, and inevitably there is! My son lives hundreds of miles away and is 36 years old! Mother's intuition is a wondrous gift! 💕🌟💕

Every case is heart breaking. This one hits hard as I’ve never seen a case that happened in my community. I remember when this happened and it still is hard to watch in 2022.

All of the replies to your comment are correct. At 14 I was incorrigible . I of course had rules etc but I did my own thing too. I snuck out all of the time. If I did go to hang out with friends and had a curfew. I d make it back home on time visit then head to my room then sneak out and catch up with everybody… they my friends did exactly the same. We would have a place to meet up at and drink and smoke weed and all kinds of stuff. sometimes even on a “ school night “

A young man in Sydney Australia drank and drugged himself silly, went drive to the local alcohol shop for more, drove on the wrong side of the road, and abused pedestrians in doing so, and he killed three children of the same family and another child, a cousin. Total four small children, just old enough for their parents to feel good enough to let them all go to the corner shop for a icecream one sunny sunday afternoon, every child's dream. His original sentence was life, 25 years in Australia. Two years later his sentence was reduced to 15 years, thats 3 years and 9 months for each innocent small child's life, that's what this weak law of our land values a innocent child's life! SO NOT RIGHT!!!

There's a slim chance they had sex consensually and then had the fight/altercation afterwards. You can't possibly know for sure. Perhaps he didn't perform very well and she made him feel humiliated. And so then he reacted by beating her. You don't know factually whether it was rape or not. that's probably why they use the terminology they used. You always need to be able to distinguish fact from speculation. But personally yes it seems most likely she was raped and then murdered in cold blood.

My best friend and I partied when we were teenagers and I’d never ever let her stay with some stranger especially when intoxicated even if I had to drag her away with the rest of us 😞 It doesn’t make it their fault obviously if they were drunk and making bad decisions because of that but it’s still so sad.

They take the challenge, they are creative, they don't give up, they are not perfect, but they deserve our respect and often even admiration. Nothing to do with this story about some lousy stupid lazy unprofessional low IQ characters who can't fulfil their basic obligations. The child is missing in the dead of night - they doubt if they should work or to spare a budget. They looked for the body only where it was easy for them, I suspect they still were caring about the budget more than about the human being. They let a stranger search for evidence, and they didn't explain to him the basic rules. Facepalm!

It's a common theme in all these stories they always start off with a chance to put someone away forever but by not doing so gives them a chance to do it again to someone else. So as far as I'm concerned they will be directly responsible when it happens again because they had the chance to make sure that it didn't and failed

I agree. My uncle was arrested in 2016 for a double rape and double murder of 2 girls 13 and 12. It was a cold case from 46 years ago. He literally got away with it for 46 years…..but here’s the kickers…2 years before the girls murders my uncle was arrested and put into a mental facility for a double rape in a park in Chico California. I wasn’t born until the 80s so I didn’t know about any of this. The second kicker is he was a registered sex offender before he assaulted and killed those girls. He lived down the block from them and continued to live right by the families for 45 years. Growing up I was around my uncle a lot. I never seen him act any weird way to anyone around me. But when I was 14 he did touch my private area over my pants. I had no idea what to think. Then over the years I would hear stories about abuse he committed. My point here is this…the moment he was convicted of raping 2 women while holding knives to their necks in a park he either should of been killed or put away and never let go. But because he wasn’t he raped and killed those girls and sexually assaulted several other people including family. I have no sympathy for him. My love for my uncle died the day I realized I never actually knew the real him. I can not be one of these people who let that stuff go. Several lives could of been saved and victims who didn’t have to become victims if they would of done the right thing the first time. Now you may ask is he still alive and if so how much time did he get…..and that’s where it disgusts me.yes he is still alive and he was given a minimum of 6 years in prison and will be allowed to ask for parole every year after that. Lots of people tell me they won’t let him out but I know that’s not true. Fact is after 6 years they can and I’m sure eventually will. The judge said they couldn’t give him the death penalty because that wasn’t offered at the time of the murders. I say there’s your problem why is he getting a sentence from 46 years ago and that s.o.b lived 46 years free and wasn’t caught until 2016…the worlds systems rely on victims. They need people to suffer so we are broken. I hate my uncle. I can’t love anyone like that. And the people who do these types of things to anyone let alone children have to be dealt with immediately. But as u can tell that’s not the case.

lol It's precisely during your teenage years that you need to be going out and developing social skills. Something like this is very rare and no reason to lock your kids up in prison lol. Perhaps a better option is to teach your kids how to defend themselves, provide them with pepper spray or something like that.
As a parent of many children, I would not allow my children to go out, We are the adults not the kids, they have to respect our discussions, I tell my youngest daughter Why I don't let her go outside with friends or spend the night at friends houses, It's a scary world 🌎,and parents need to take control of there children, maybe at the moment they'll be mad but than they will get over it, One day they will thank you for being there parent not a cool friend, many parents want to be friends with there kids that's crazy, just bond with them and love them.

I've been a mother since 1994. There's no way I could tell you exactly what under garments my children are wearing on any given day since the day they stopped needing me to dress them.
Even now that we only have 1 teen still living at home there's no way I could tell you what undergarments are missing because she doesn't always come home from her father's in what she wore over there. The contents of her closet & dresser are constantly changing.
I think most would know though as how many bras do most teens have? I think my teen daughter only had two or maybe three at that age. So it would be fairly easy to work out what bra isn't in the draw and the obvious thing then is to see if the matching knickers to the bra is about or not.
Maybe just because it was bright pink? 🤷🏻♀️ agreed, though… doing laundry and buying bras, you would have a decent idea of what they have in their drawers… but it wouldn’t just be something I would be able to just throw out… 🤷🏻♀️

The US still is too lenient on a lot of stuff for my taste. But still better than anywhere where the crown oversees the sentences, they are ridiculous.

My brother got 10 years for stealing a tool set from Home Depot that he dropped at the door while running out. He’s serving all his time since they denied him parole and gave him a serve out date. Absolutely ridiculous if you ask me. He’s a non violent offender who made a bad choice and is paying for it with a decade of his life. But a 14yr old kid can brutally murder their entire family including little sisters and brothers, and because he’s a juvenile gets out when he’s 21! It’s absolutely ridiculous. Generally I agree with you about prison sentences in USA vs most other countries. However on this case the guy was sentenced based in his age when the murder took place. Frequently we do the same thing in USA.

Same with my mom. She's not capable of it. I am connected on that level with my daughter, however. So sad that someone can take a child from a mother, father, family and when confronted doesn't even break a light sweat. He got a slap on the wrist and it in turn slapped the family in the face. I find it very odd when a child goes missing the 1st thing a mother says is Billy raped her and threw her in the river.. Not check the river she parties there.. not she couldve been kidnapped or murdered or assaulted...she knew EXACTLY what happened. That gives me an icky feeling.

We went out in groups that age and our parents let a group of girls go on a survivalist camping trip with the oldest person age 17. Lots of parents do it with no negative consequences happening. They do it because they did it themselves. The saying is, it's all good until somebody gets hurt.

It mentioned already that they were under the impression all the children knew each other. 14 year olds tell their parents they are at each other’s houses and then go for walks outside, it’s a HUGE part of youth activity in New Brunswick as it is so rural.

@@curiouser-and-curiouser By the way? What we had to fear in harms way mostly came from the adults and older teens at our church and schools. Sexual Assault and molestation was not uncommon. Usually the victims were blamed. That's why I support Erin's Law. Our area only had one kidnapping/carjacking of a young adult when I was growing up and that murder made national news because at the time it was rare.
It is too bad that STREET JUSTICE hasn't prevail in this case. We all know that he is guilty. What should it matter how the evidence was obtained. The evidence proved his guilt so it isn't as if the police planted the evidence. He did it and only served 8 years for murdering a 14 year old child. Karma is a BITCH but oftentimes it takes too long to see. I think street justice is best for these clear cut cases that the people is found guilty.

As much as I love true crime stories and sports, I am SO terrible and naive, when it comes to music and entertainment (I can't tell you the last movie I watched in a theater). I'm sure that one can find places for this, in Pioneer Square in Downtown Seattle, or one of those many music places on Broadway in Seattle.
