- Two years into the Russia-Ukraine war, two Taiwanese men are heading back to the front lines to help Ukraine. Forty-four-year-old Ah-ta and 25-year-old Wen-yang are returning to Ukraine for the second time since the war broke out. The former was forced to return to Taiwan after sustaining a shrapnel wound to the thigh. The latter has yet to tell his family that he’s returning to the battlefield. The two of them departed for Europe on Wednesday.
Wearing Ukrainian uniforms and the emblem of the International Legion, these two Taiwanese nationals intend to fight for Ukraine. On Wednesday, they boarded a flight from Taoyuan to join the Russia-Ukraine war.

We must always pay a price for freedom. That’s why I’m returning this time.
The two will return to the warzone for a second campaign. This time, they’re bound for Kharkiv. One of them is Ah-ta, a 44-year-old who previously served in the R.O.C. Army. Last time he was in Ukraine, he sustained a shrapnel wound to the thigh and had to return to Taiwan to recover. Now that he’s healed, he’s ready to fight again for Ukraine.
The other is 25-year-old Wen-yang, who previously served in the R.O.C. Marine Corps. He says his family doesn’t yet know that he’s headed for Ukraine.

I’m still keeping it a secret from my family. I haven’t let them know. If they find out now that I’m being filmed, so be it.
The two plan to serve in Ukraine for half a year. They’ll be paid US$4,800 a month, or about NT$156,000, but will risk their lives each day on the battlefield. The two Taiwanese are taking action to support Ukraine against Russia, saying that they hope war will never break out back home.

Brave brothers fighting for freedom
Peace thru Strength, you made a sacrifice, come back safe so you can enjoy freedom, thank you for your service. U.S. Army (Retired), SFC, 2007.
Ukrainian men really get to enjoy that freedom you are talking about. LOL Retired so you have been a tax burden since 2007. Congrats
I’ve seen former Taiwanese and Chinese military members serving together with Ukraine against Russia.
@@TheOuskie How is being retired an insult? This is the stupidest comment I've ever seen online, congrats.
Save the bs. To the hegemon, it is all about domination.
I enlisted as bottom in iraq!
God bless you both and protect you all. Take care. And be sober. 🙏
Thank you for defending Ukraine’s sovereignty and people
I hope (and assume) they can legally serve with the Ukrainian foreign legion, since they do not seem to hide it. I wonder how many Taiwanese serve there?

🇹🇼❤🇵🇭❤️🇺🇦
I'm just assuming they go there to gain battle experience and knowledge, in order to share with the home country military? Like China does aswell with troops in Ukraine.
No. Have you been paying attention to the number of foreign fighters volunteering in ukraine? They aren't being sent by their home country nor are they going to share experience. Ask them and they would say they are fighting imperialism
@@silkplayer9 Very easy to lookup -> International Legion of Territorial Defence of Ukraine, or the Ukrainian Foreign Legion. There are youtube videos with them as well. Also a lot of war footage comes out with people speaking other languages like spanish. Lots of Colombians in Ukraine fighting.
Respect!
🇺🇦 🇺🇦 🇺🇦
Please stay safe
GOD bless Taiwan, Ukraine 🇵🇭🙏

I'm from the southern part of the Philippines hope this two brave man can endure the brutality of war, I know first hand because everyday me and my family run ,hide and avoid all men wearing uniform with guns because you cannot tell who is the soldier from the enemy or the soldier might shoot you thinking you are the enemy, war is hell that's I can tell
4800$ sign me up…
E lod of respect tho dis man Slava tho them
勇敢的台湾人❤
God bless.
God bless you
These 2 guys should just mind their own business.
it is worth it?
He's getting paid $4,800 a month. The average annual salary is about $21,689 (and much lower for young people). That 25 year old is pulling in $57,600 a year (at least 3 times what he could expect to make in Taiwan).
I wouldn't risk my life for any amount of money but the money is good.
@@jeremyjackson7429 HELL NO ,IT'S NEVER WORTH IT.these dudes are brainwashed.
I guess Taiwan is training them to become elite units since there is a looming invasion on their country as well.
@@jeremyjackson7429there are foreign volunteers, they are not paid. it's different.
@@jeremyjackson7429 Wrong! He gets paid 1500$ a month. But keep lying.
were they both trained in Taiwan military ?? video says Ah-ta, 44-year, previously served in the R.O.C. Army. oops, says BOTH ex Army
As of 2023 the Taiwan armed forces are estimated to have between 169,000 and 180,000 active personnel.
Starting in 2024, Taiwanese male citizens are required to serve 12 months in the military.
The number of reservists is estimated at 1.657 million.
The Taiwanese Army, is the largest branch of the Republic of China Armed Forces. An estimated 80% of the ROC Army is located on Taiwan, while the remainder are stationed on the Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu, Dongsha and Taiping Islands.
They've prob done their national service
❤️❤️❤️🫡🫡🫡🇵🇭
Taiwan island is not for free. It belongs to all Chinese. Not just the taiwanese.
手臂上带着别人的国旗?真丢脸!
Taiwan is the next Ukraine 😂😂😂
Taiwan is not. PR China is. And in this version Taiwan is LPR&DPR, United States will be Russia if she wants.
ATIKURRAHMN >>>>>> ANOTHER RF TROLL IN A FANTASY WORLD
russia is losing so...................................................................
Beijing is the next Ukraine...
Poor people are fighting for money. Insane.
Brainwashed by the media.
i agree its bad when Africans or Nepalis fight for money on side of Russia
@@grievetan I'm fairly certain its in part to gain battle experience for their country. China is doing the same thing for the Russian side.
It is called mercenaries
@demongiyu you're going to do mercenary work for barely what a plumber does in salary? Unless you belong to a third world country this isn't mercenary work its freedom fighting volunteering.
These 2 dudes reminded me of the song "Billy don't be a hero!" ua-cam.com/video/KX-JeV37Uqw/v-deo.html
Not very bright!!!!
Sure, sure whatever!
TSAILOR >>>>> ARE YOU MAKING A STATEMENT ABOUT your MENTAL ABILITIES ?????
Think you are a couple of thousand USD$ too high with the pay figure.
Maybe both of you couldn't get jobs in lack-lustre economy in Taiwan Province?
For some people freedom has a value larger than money. This is something you will never understand. This money for that kind of job is impossible. Every single fighter in Ukraine does not do it for the money.
Why do they want to die so far from home? Can their spirit return home?
China should allso be helping Ukraine
Ukraine should give these men citizenship tbh.
With all my heart I really want to come there and help out as well , Im not a soldier, not have any experience but I just want to help in any way I can on the battlefield maybe resupply, medevac, anything , but if they train me or put a gun in my hand 👌, I don't care , I'm not afraid to fight , I'm not afraid to die, that's up to God, if my time comes for me to go well, all of us will be gone one-day I rather die fighting doing something worth to die for than get old die on the bed , only if I had a lot of money I'll fly in there as soon as possible...too bad I can't afford my way there so I'll just pray for the Ukrainians for victory...
Thank you boys ,
lol why fight a rich man war that you know nothing about
