Hi Sarah
I don't know if you're going to read this comment, but whatever. I'm a 15 years old recorder player from switzerland. I've been watching your videos for quite a while now, but never commented (I usually never comment on youtube videos lol).
So, this isn't specifically about this video, I just wanted to say thank you. Your videos made me fall in love with the recorder again after wanting to quit for a while. The way you talk about recorders never fails to put a smile on my face. You're such a lovely, energetic person and an amazing recorder player. THANK YOU for everything. 💕
Hi Caro, thanks for your lovely message! I’m so happy my videos made you enjoy the recorder again! 💚🎵☀️
I'm from Switzerland also and used to play the recorder! I quit after some years, but wish I would have given it more thought, or at least went to another instrument. I still have my recorder, it's a very good one, but it's a bit alone and sad in my shelf now ^^'
I think it's good to never give up on music!
@@ankherin4360 - if you get it down I think it will be very happy!! Also, you could give it a good clean and oiling (look through Sarah's old videos to find out how to remove the block safely etc.) and then, when it's all clean and oiled and playing well - you can start playing again - hope you do!!!
Yeah she also encouraged me ^_^
@@Team_Recorderme too, from china. your music note is a lot easier to play the. I mean your version of the song.
They are taking the recorders to isengard!
what did you say?
I couldn't imagine a more perfect comment for this video 😂
the recorders, the recorders, the recorders, the recorders. To Isengard! To Isengard!
hahahaha i undestood that reference!!
If the recorders were hobbits... it's true...
"Do remember the shire m.r frodo" that scene always makes me cry and it's mainly all about the music,Lord of the rings has on of the best soundtracks that has ever been made ❤️
These are incredibly hard times for me today, but playing my tenor recorder even few minutes a day and watching you smiling and enjoying this so much.. It brings me a little joy, so important now. Thank you for this.
❤️❤️❤️
rafal1297 - I don't know why things are so tough for you right now and wouldn't ask, but I know exactly what you mean about the joy of playing the recorder. I have health issues and don't get out much and sometimes am in a lot of pain, but playing the recorder is always (nearly always - when my arms and hands behave - lol!!) great fun and such a pleasure as well as a challenge. I hope things get better for you soon!!
@@honeychurchgipsy6 Well, I ran away from home and soon after this I was operated because of a tumour on my head. But I will not give up and you cannot give up either. We got this, get well soon, I wish you all the best.
The Shire theme brings tears to my eyes. Thanks for everything, Sarah!
i want to start learning recorder, a wizard is never late
Nor is he early! You've arrived precisely when you mean to!
My recorder: hahahaha you have no power here, Gandalf
Just got my recorder today LETS GO PRACTICE!
I learned part of this song back when I was learning tin whistle. It fits the dream recorder well
Greetings from Belgium, Sarah!
I've been a recorder player my whole life (started when I was 7, am now 34) and love it. But I have always considered my "true repertoire" the baroque music, though have been accompanying pop music for years. I've always played "covers" of well-known music pieces (such as Lucie Horsch's rendition of Vivaldi's Spring - without her talent ^^), but - again - thought it wasn't legitimate.
And then I discovered your channel during the lockdown and had a revelation. Yes, the recorder is a versatile instrument and I can play many repertoires -- this tutorial of Lord of the Rings is just great with the folk ornaments. Until now, I had only played it on the violin even though I don't master this instrument as well as the recorder (but thought it was more "legitimate" I guess).
To cut a long story short : thank you for giving the recorder its "lettres de noblesse", your amazing tutorials and music lessons (thank you so much for the vids about folk/baroque ornaments). I've just started working on Bach's Partita ('Baroque Solo Book' forever!)
Keep up the good work!
A Belgian recorder-comrade 🎶
Stumbled on this one trying to find a Kaer Morhen lesson. But this is perfect, thank you!
Love this!!! I’ve been playing it by ear for years on recorder. Great that you took the time to notate it! This music has been near and dear to my heart since I was a teenager.
I'm a violin player but Wow u made me love recorder actually . ur videos cute go on I guess I'll see this channel 1m one day 🏃🏻♂️💛
I have been playing the whistle for a while now, found a recorder at my granny's yesterday and after playing my best version of down by the sally gardens for her ( having never played a recorder before I missed a few notes) she said I could keep it. Found your channel this morning, learning so much already. Thanks for the videos.
So awesome! I have only recently started playing the recorder a couple of weeks ago. Your videos have been oh so very helpful.
Now you have just given me an excellent goal to aim for. Love the LOTR, thank you!
Been waiting for you to upload something like this since I discovered the wind part in Concerning Hobbits.
I didn't even know how to hold the recorder 3 months ago. Your videos have brought me a long way. Lots of love, thanks for this piece! ❤️
Congratulations on passing 100.000 subscribers recently. I appreciate your efforts on making such high quality content.
When all seems lost, the solemn notes of the recorder ring out to rekindle bravery in their faltering hearts.
This might be my favorite UA-cam channel I've ever stumbled upon. Thank you Sarah.
Hello Sarah, I'm a recorder player from Brazil, and I'm really enjoying your content, and also learning much about the reocorder, especially the many effects we can do with this simple but complex instrument. Many thanks and God Bless!
Hi Sarah, Thank you for being so dedicated and informative with your videos. One can not help but to join in on your enthusiasm. I am legally blind so I can not see your finger positions, but you explain things with such detail, that it helps me understand better. Not only do you play beautifully, but you are a wonderful teacher as well. I had a voice and violin teacher for many years. They were great and taught me by ear, but a teacher is not possible for me at this time. Is there anything you would recommend or perhaps a video of yours on tips and practices for ear training for the recorder that I haven't found yet?
My boys (I have 3) have heard me practice and are so supportive. They've even started playing their recorders again. ☺
Silly me, I just found your video on learning to play by ear. I appreciate how thorough your videos are, Thanks again. 😊💃
Just found your youtube and although I haven't played the recorder since elementary I am already a fan! Been hearing your album on spotify and I love it! Your music is beautiful and I am seriously inspired, it does feel like a travel through the stars. It seem a bit hard when I see stuff like this awesomeness being played, but still thinking on getting a recorder, I love the warmth of it's sound. Wonderful work!
Wow, putting recorders on the MAP! Love it!
Still the Holidays, still finding this channel, still did not annoy my cats.. Brilliant!
Thanks so much for all your great videos. I've just got myself a soprano recorder (thinking about getting an alto now, too!) and this is a great piece of music to get started on.
Wonderful, this! I especially the dance music from the party!
This is so cool been a fan of lotr for a long time and this is a really cool and depiction of the feel and sound of this music
Thank you for the sheet music! It's so much easier to practice on my own and then come back to play along with you. :)
This is dope! Thanks for the video! May God bless you!
This is brilliant - thank you!
Thank you so much fot this video (and so for the others).
I 'm learning alto recorder, and you're right: it's so much fun
Congratulations on passing 100K subscribers. Thank you for more great information. I wasn't that much of a LotR movie fan, but maybe I should revisit.
I love your videos they are educational and informative
I was super excited and grabbed my old recorder until I realized this wasn’t a tutorial at all, but a follow along :(
Guess I’ll be back after I relearn how to read sheet music for the recorder (I tried slowing the video way down and watching your hands, but that only worked for the first few notes.)
Would it be alright to ask for a full tutorial (maybe with some finger tabs) for those of us that want to get back into playing the recorder or are just getting started?
It would be very greatly appreciated by me and I’m sure many others!
Either way, thanks for the upload because it’s still better than nothing!!
Nearly teared up on that first bit, nostalgic or what!!
Oh my recorder, my precious.😘😘😁🙂❤️❤️🙏👍
I couldn't get over when she played it in the other video. Now she's playing the whole song.
thank you so much for the medley and tutorial! you put butterflies in my stomach
Thank you, I’ve wanted to learn this forever! This, and also Gabriel’s Oboe if you’re considering doing more of these.
oh you are going to make me learn to sight read aren't you... been avoiding it for over a decade.
Amazing. I can imagine Billy Boyd singing by the side of you.
Wooo so lovely
Congratulations, over 100 thousands subscribers
I came from Twoset Violin and I'm glad that I searched for your name... I can't play any instrument but I really enjoy watching your videos.
Hello Sarah, New subber, liked and Notified. Picked up a 2nd hand tenor recorder (only 1 key pad at the bottom, so only a C). Loving the videos and not played for over 30 years, where I was in a recorder recital group, up to 10 in our group. Taken up the recorder and flute again. Thanks for such great videos.
I was searching for cheap flutes to buy and I went to this video. Thanks, UA-cam and thanks, Sarah :)
I'm here because of Davie504 and the title "Lord of the Rings" :D
I self learnt the recorded by myself, and I didn't have someone to teach like you did.
Hello! I love your channel. I recently picked up the recorder again because serious life stress and all that.... Anyway, I love my alto and tenor so much. LoTR and Harry Potter music is the icing on the cake. What originally inspired me to play the recorder was a song by the Mediaeval Baebes called “My Lady Sleeps”. There’s a gorgeous recorder section that has sent me scouring the internet for sheet music (rather unsuccessfully, I’m afraid). It’s really quite lovely, if you haven’t heard it. 😀
These comments are gems idc how old they are 💎✨🧚♀️🌸y'all are amazing
The bit at 3:10! I've had this tune in my head for a week, while I'm in the shower or something.
But by the time that I pick up my flute to figure it out, I've always forgotten it. 😳
So thanks.
"till apples grow on an orange tree". Beautiful song. "let the grass grow over me". Amazing. One of the more interesting albums I've heard in this vein! I think I wish, or Virgo splendens (so haunting) is my favorite. I've been watching your videos as aback catalogue, because I discovered you from Davie, and seeing as you sre so cheerful in your videos, I was surprised at how somber this album tends to be. AND THAT WACKY Vermont counterpoint... just glorious! Great work. !! 🙂
In fact, I recently picked up a recorder and am currently working on the c major scale bc you made it look so exciting. I didn't know recorders were real instruments until I saw your videos.
Ahh thanks, nice you’re listening to my album!
wonderful ❤️💕 thank you
My favorite tunes on my flute haha.
@Team_Recorder Thank you so much for your great videos, they are really motivating us to pick up our Blockflöten again! We are playing Soprano and Alto, and are wondering which version of your medley to buy from musicnotes. The Alto version will probably be the one to go to for playing a duet?
Love it
Best tuto thank you so Much ?
I'm going to transpose this and learn it on my alto.
new suscriber, lovely video.
Thank you so much for this video! Will you do A Window to the Past next? It's from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And until this video was posted, the recorder passed out of all knowledge! 😉
But was it a hobbit who re-discovered it? Lol
@@ItsMeKatieC Well, even the smallest instrument can change the course of history!!
Wouuuu 🤩🎶🤩🎶
Great video, thank you. It would be great to see you reviewing some other repertoire, curious repertoire of the recorder, like Bach cantata 106 (pleaseee) I'm pretty curious about that piece and its "recorder trouble".
Lookin' good Sarah :)
Thank you so much for this!! I actually started playing the recorder a month ago and this was the song I wanted to learn first but I couldn't find a decent tutorial on it so thank you!!
Request:
Can you please please do A Window to the Past from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban?
Ha! A couple days ago (so probably right when this video was uploaded) I suddenly had the urge to get my old recorder out of the attic and teach myself to play Concerning Hobbits. Super weird! At least there's an actual tutorial I can follow now.
Love the videos! You should do a collab with Perkelt. Their recorder music is amazing!
That's so perfect))) I want to buy and learn flute just for Shire Theme song
I love your french t-shirt :-) good video
Hi Sarah, could you please do a tutorial on the Queen of the Night's iconic second aria from The Magic Flute? In particular, I'd like to know if there are any techniques or embellishments that should/could be employed for a better sound. I think it'd also be a great way to highlight the recorder's versatility given the range of notes it requires. Regardless, thanks for all your videos.
Hi Sarah
I'm loving watching you and receiving your brilliant vibrant energy all the way from Portugal :)
Do you think you could do a playalong or release the sheet music on jellynote from the beautifull Irish animation Amhrán na Mara / Song of the Sea?
Stay happy and radiant!
Could you please do Beethoven’s 5th symphony, Blue Danube, Eine Kleine? And also congratulations on 101k subs! You really, really deserve it.😄
I have the sheet music to 'In Dreams' for recorder, that contains both the Shire and The fellowship themes...
(oh, and a long time ago, I learned some Sindarin and Quenya, so I can follow without subtitles).
Holy moly
I love you Sarah Jeffery
Hi Sarah! Loved your video. Could you make a tutorial on the music from Braveheart please? It's gorgeous!
Great! 👍🏻
Great and I hope its comes a lot of more Music and Tutorials for Movie Sounstracks from You. How Braveheart, Jurassic Park, The Last Mohican, How You Train Your Dragon and so on :-) I have play Trumpet but i will throw it out and take some Recorder Lessons. :-) Best Regards
Hi, Sarah, ... i learn playing tin whistle first , so i used to use the do rei mi,,,or numerical music notation and feels like flying thru the music as i m zero knowledge to formal sheet music. I m naughty enough to learn playing recorder concurrently with tin whistle now. I now kinda stumbled at those stave and black dots and 5 lines music notations.
my question is: is numerical notations enough to me to learn playing recorder music? if i m a new learner who wants to enjoy playing recorder quick? Is a diatonic whistle an inferior to a chromatic recorder?
Lovely
Amazinggggg...
Please Sarah, make a video on A Window to the Past from Harry Potter! 😥
fabulous darling, fabulous (Edna voice)
Very impressive! But can you play Through the Fire and Flames on the Recorder?
yyyeeeaaaaAAASSSSS THANK YOU
"Oft is the course of the deeds that move the great wheels of the world: small hands do because they must, while the eyes of the great and powerful are elsewhere." -Elrond
loving your stuff, and energy. busting out my tenor recorder soon. still thinking about bass (davie504 says "hi")
Hi sarah! ^^ Teach me how to play the title theme of wind Waker on recorder plzzzzz
I want to see you review the SHAKUHACHI flute
Nostalgia has now taken place in my brain...
Hello Sarah, I was wondering if you've heard any Ayreon songs? Not the most common cup of tea, but a lot of songs have all kinds of different flute or whistle parts in them. I bet you could make something really funky out of some of that music on the recorder (and it would be amazing to see it in a video!!). Here are some examples: Valley of the Queens / Realization / River of Time.
I started watching your channel when I saw you on TwoSets and Davie504. Never knew there are many techniques in playing recorders😅. Keep making good contents!
P/S: And if you got time, can u react to AlipBaTa - My Heart Will Go On? He plays some recorder while playing guitar in that song.
Teacher Sarah, could you do a few songs from the film of hobbit, songs like 'misty mountain' or 'an unexpected party'? By the way, congratulations about your channel, it is so helpfull for me. Thank you so much. I follow you from Brasil.
Hi Sarah.. From Sudan 🇸🇩
Brasil ❤️ i love flauta
Great! I wish I could play the musics of the lord of the rings, but I not good at it all!
“There is only one Lord of the Ring, only one who can bend it to his will. And he does not share power.”
Amazing 😍 👏 🙀. I have my Flute im ready For Battle.
Just wondering if you have watched the bts doco for the score of The Mandalorian? Recorder plays such a vital part.
Thanks Sarah! Are they in original key or transposed to fit the soprano?
It's originally in D and she's playing in D major.
hello Ms. sarah i was wondering if you can play the song el condor pasa on the recorder or flute.
hi Sarah in new to music and especially the recorder can you please tell me what is that weird b towards the end ?!
