  • Hi folks sorry I haven't been around much lately I just thought I'd introduce you to my widefield setup I'm building. Apologies about the stabilisation in the video it seemed to be having a bit of an issue for some reason. I have tested it out 3 times now & the image at the end isn't the best due to being shot with a 92% Moon plus the flats didn't quite work on that occasion but I hope to use it more & improve along with it.

    Hi, bit of a late comment, weather's been crap hete on South coast most of time, but hey thought I'd mention I to have put together a small rig, bought a decent stainless legged tripod from a charity shop looks like Celestron, for 8 quid!!! Just lucky there, Set up my super tuned AZgti with EQmod cable on the mount, strapped a mini pc quieter2 to the leg, popped my Evolux 62ed with proprietary reducer flatener, (this bit costs as much as the scope but does have EDglass)!!! A ZWO focuser, SV 30mm guide scope, remoted in with laptop, all set up with Nina, camera I'm using is uncooled ZWO 585 MC, no amp glow with little noise at high gain so long exposures no prob away from city.. regular CLS/ir cut filter from Altair from backyard. This planetry cam is amazing , well capable hi rez deep sky images,(when effing clouds go away) images are really good, Hercules globular looked amazing the other night...just trying to set up a WiFi hotspot that Cuiv put up on his channel, recently Anyhow hope you are well, Atb Tom...

      Sounds a great little setup Tom although with the weather lately my mojo is at an all time low at the moment but at least the Practical astronomy show is just around the corner so I can see me buying some bits while I'm there. Fingers crossed we'll start getting some decent weather soon & well done for nabbing that tripod for 8 quid, clear skies!!

    Hi, that's a handy video, I've been itching to try out my similar sized wide field rig but for the Evolux 62ed including field flattener which was almost the price of the scope!!! But it is ED glass I suppose, images are hard to find for this, and weather has been by and large crap, to put icing on cake I've gone down with bad arse sciatica...due to Uks damp, you cannot win😂 😂... Regards Tom.

    Lovely little rig there Tich! Interesting little dew ring! I had the dreaded foggy window on my last vid, but that was my fault for not switching on anti-dew🤦‍♂️
    288 is a nice wide field, similar to my redcat 51 at 250 (which is my next rig I’m going to build up properly with auto focus etc.) This weather mate, it’s been a nightmare! My forecast is crap until possibly Friday week!
    Hey ho! Nice image mate👍
    Are you going to PAS in March? Clear skies Tich

      Cheers Simon it's the same one the Glenn tried out some months back cracking little scope for the price still an autofocuser to fit but it's pretty good as it is, I missed out on a clear sky Tuesday night as it were clearing when I came home from work at 10:00 & when I went to bed it was clear the rest of the night so could kick myself about that. Yeah I'll definitely be going to the PAS to no doubt spend some pennies on something mate lol be good to catch up.
      Clear skies (Soon I hope!!)

    I was wondering when you'd post a video with the new scope. It seems to work very well, and although it's hard to tell from a video, the optical quality looks very good to me. Nice setup. The picture came out great!

      Yeah I know it's been a while now I run out of ideas plus the weather has been pretty dire here lately so imaging has been lacking so far. Thank for watching it's a great little scope for the money I just hope I can get to use it again real soon.
      Clear skies!!

    Great mini rig there, and first light, and look forward to more upcoming images from it…strange you get dew on the sensor when it’s a heated window…is the heated window working ok…?? As that maybe the issue…👍🏻

      @dumpydalekobservatory  7 місяців тому

      Thanks I hope to use it more if the skies will allow, for the most part the heated window seems to work but every now & then it will catch me off guard, I've had the same happen with the 269C but one night it was dripping wet with dew.

    Excellent Titch, the image is excellent, have you tried putting the window heater on for about 10 first before you start cooling ? It might just give it chance to warm up, I put my heater ring on about 15 minutes before cooling and it helps 99 % of the time.

      Thanks mate the flats didn't work great sadly but I do hope to try it out more hopefully in the not to distant future lol, when I cool the camera down I tend to let it cool over a period of 10 to 15 minutes as I did the 26C at Kelling & the dewheather on the window was switched on. If you remember it wasn't particularly dewy which makes a change for Kelling & if it weren't for you spotting the splodge of dew I'd probably binned all the data. I need to do more testing with the dew ring but Tim assures me that it warms up so fingers crossed it's going to help. 🙂

      @@dumpydalekobservatory let me know how it works, it might be better then the Altair one and will remove a dew controller from my rig.

      I'll keep you posted mate I think a MKII version will need to be made so the camera can be tightened with the filter drawer but I'll keep testing this one, if we get more clear skies that is.
