I wish the Bell-bearing hunter's blade thing was better, having L2 be a stance and using R1 to do the ranged swings and R2 for the drill attack would've been so much cooler.
Maybe one day they’ll add more to the weapon art, cause as of right now. It’s just cool to look at. Which is a shame cause I really like the weapon
Yea it would be cool if it had the same range as from the boss. I was kinda disappointed it doesn't.
@@Mak_0007 charging it gives it a bit more range, my brother beat the game with it yesterday, it's decent, the weapon art just uses the boss' least cool move.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind if it wasn't a legendary armament, but weapons like the Ruins Greatsword are also legendary armaments and it has a cooler weapon art and extremely unique charged heavys. Definitely is a shame.
For the Mohg Blood Spear. If you sprint and do the heavy(hold) you'll actually do a short sprint rush attack then followed by the heavy thrust forward. Think it's 4 hits total. Believe you can end it and thrust early as well by letting off the heavy.
Is this a unique move?
@@KAT4N4 it's this specific weapons version of the heavy sprint attack. So with Katanas you'll normally do a single thrust forward. For this spear you go into like a low short sprint (think of it the way lancer does it's charge in Monster Hunter) will prock 2-3 hits while running and then finish with a huge thrust out in front.
*Edit* it even works while you're on horseback where as most other weapons heavy attack are changed. Just sprint hold your heavy attack and it will hold the spear out like you're in a joust fight and then huge poke at the end.

A spear with a powerful AoE bleed attack that can be spammed through walls? Truly, this game is the pinnacle of Miyazaki's game design.
you get stagged and backstabbed a decent bit if the player is intelligent.

You always inspire me to give PVP more of a try, hope moghwin's spear will do well in PVE as well! Great vid Chase!
As long as you know that spears moveset and how to chain attacks together you'll do just fine mate. Every weapon does decent damage in PvP, you just need to know how to use it against other players because they move way differently than enemies in the game. Find out how to roll catch with your weapon and find out which attacks can chain together and how to chain them together. As long as it fits your style, you'll do great. Also learn how to counter these "meta" builds. 3v1 is absolutely ridiculous in this game so don't get discouraged if you get destroyed. Do some research, find counters, and run your spear build. Also try to learn to parry a lot of these guys don't expect people to parry. A good way to bait them into it is to block and after they hit your shield once hit the parry button immediately because they'll more than likely be spamming the attack.

As long as the enemies can bleed and get stunned, it's amazing. Might want to stack poise to not get interrupted just incase, I want to try this on malenia and see how that goes
What's surprising to me(altho given his skill maybe shouldn't be)is that he doesn't know some of the less well known weapons, and yet he still destroys consistently
Well, you can use the spear with a great shield whilst blocking. So, yeah, it works pretty well for PvE.
you know, it really is a testament to how well the arsenal of elden ring seems to have been thought out when almost every new weapon i find makes me want to build around it
while i do feel there's somehow less overral weapons than, let's say, DS3 there's also WAAAAY less "fodder" weapons which is A+ in my books.
Dlc will fix this. Originally ds3 without it felt rather small too… at least imo
@@Tale_swapper that's the thing though; It *Felt* small because the amount of weapons that were actualy viable was small even though there were a Lot of (barely usable/uninteresting) weapons overral.
DLC fixed this because It comes with fewer weapons, so they had time and Focus to sort out each and every one to make them unique and Fun to use instead of having to bloat the list with pointless stuff to make It *feel* big instead of *making* It big.

@@thaliuswarborn1148 any weap on ds3 can be mortal, sorry.. people just liked to use "a+" weps and boss... "metas" and they all died to me on pvp changing weaps at every win, when arena comes down i get 46 victorys before die, people like to play with strong weps but u are the strong.
The animations and design for arcane weapons are beautiful

@@Ulvorskets Well the rivers of blood is just double slash with more range, like how the moonveil's is just unsheathe with more range, however I can agree with the bloody helice, marais executioner's sword and mohgwyns spear.

Finishing up my first playthrough, definitely going arcane for my next character. So much versatility and bonkers damage
can always respec your character at the moon queen and try it first too.
why not just respec, you should got required materials in your playthrough, enough for more than a dozen times respec, it's also farmable and purchasable
The swarm of flies utterly decimates anything that can bleed. It's a little unreal.

I really hope that the future of Elden Ring isn't going to be weapon art spam. It's nice to have weapon arts being more impactful, but they have completely taken over the game both pvp and pve
While Im kinda glad that the R1 spam of previous titles is dead. R2s, charged R2s, weapon arts, rolling/crouch attack and jumping attacks are highly used now. The fights are no longer so one dimensional. And they will probably nerf bleed a bit at some point. Although I hope not too much.

You’re both clueless if you thought you could really RB spam in DS3… that’s free parry material if you’re not trash. Not to mention it’s not like there was a poise system where you’d get stunned to death. If there was it got patched like the caestus in DS3 7 hit true combo. Weapon arts supplemented there old school style combat, it wasn’t a central role in it. A lot of it centers around weapon art abuse so far.
@@StoicScape219 Yea, I mean even watching ChaseTheBro now is just weapon art spam, with thrust attacks to finish off roll spam. I think I'm moving on from the souls genre at this point for my pvp fix, pve is phenomenal though.
@@StoicScape219 Lol, chill man. You misunderstood. I didnt "RB" spam, but a lot of trash players did. Remember the old Dark Sword R1 days? And yeah, you could face tank parry R1s for a long time. They were always easy to parry. My point was that its nice that all the other moves a weapon has are being used more in this game.
NGL i dont even got the same classes you play usually and i still manage to learn just from your mindset in PVP. Your movements and clear understand of went to back up and stuff etc. Thank you for your videos man this type of content just adds unlimited amounts of hours to this game for me

The weapon art for rivers stun locks through its entirety because of the guaranteed bleed proc and the very very last slash can roll catch. Just when we thought the moonveil was the only op katana
Yeah basically a oneshot because of the bleed proc stun, and if that alone doesn't kill you the second wep art attack definitely will. Literally 0 counter/outplay potential. Get hit ONCE and die. Can't wait for it to get nerfed I got a cheeky moonveil build that's still absolutely insane. I oneshot a host that tried to bait me into a dual when his friend ganked me both were using Rivers, hit him for 1400+ lol

As someone who played my first playthrough barely using ashes of war seeing these absolutely insane looking ones makes me feel like I missed out on like a lot. Oh well, at least it means I get to make more builds around them on later playthroughs :)

so funny to watch these videos one year later and see Chase meeting many weapons for the first time (as well as the opponents). In the recent videos he just knows every single move and attack by heart.
Bloody Helice is my favourite weapon at the moment, though you should really try any heavy thrusting sword for the running heavy alone. It might just be the bloody helice but it covers huge distance really quickly so it's great for chase downs.

Is it just me or does it seem like weapon arts are waaay more prevalent and powerful in PvP in this game as compared to DS3? Even Chase himself seems to opt very often to just use the weapon arts as they are often one shots or auto combos, have huge range and can roll catch from far away
There's definitely way more powerful Ashes of War in this game, but DS3 had a lot of strong Weapon Arts too. Like Splitleaf Greatsword for example had a ridiculous true combo that could do over 1k damage if you had the right str+blessed weapon build.

I like the Twinblades small little backstep at the end of weapon Art, i cant be only one thinking of it. Very useful if timed well
I’m really surprised that you don’t use the great spear running r2 more often, it tracks really well and will pretty much always catch people who panic roll unless they specifically move behind you, it also does more damage than the running r1, although both are really good in different situations because the r2 does lock you in an animation for a relatively long time so it’s not so good against groups of people but I still feel like you don’t fully utilize the weapon, good video as always though
he's able to chain rollcatch with running r1 already, I think with his skill its more consistent than running r2

That spear reminds me of the Bloodletter from Bloodborne; very cool! I have been working towards ROB since before the buff and am really looking forward to it now, more for PVE than PVP really as I don't do much of that yet.
You should try out the heavy thrusting sword from the dragon with the long name. Weapon art is very nutty;)

I have only rarely seen Tarnished using Thunder Faith/Strength based builds, are those simply not viable or underrepresented? So when I gave my Rivers of Blood to my friend so he could dual wield, it was a mistake? Well... I... don't regret it, he's very op now and happy.
Edit: If I'm not wrong, he stopped dual wielding them, but I don't play with him for some time so I don't have sure. We stopped playing since I gave Elden Ring a pause, because I have two options to progress rn: 1-Farum Azula, issue: stuck on Godskin "Duo". 2 - West Mountaintops of the Giants, issue: stuck on Commander Motherfucker Niall. So basically I can't progress, got frustrated and I haven't been playing Elden Ring for some days.

I think my favorite thing about Eleonora's Poleblade is the unique heavy attack, it's just a shame it's kinda useless in pvp.
Man, trying to rock a unique build that no one runs in pvp is such a pain with these bleed and arcane builds, they’re amazingly painful.

Shard of Alexander is a good boost to weapon skills like rivers of blood if you have a spare talisman slot for it.
I was running that with shield bash for a while, it would hit for like 750 haha

I just want to say, that if you want to invade, use the Mohg's great rune. If you activate it and invade someone, they will give you an iten that once you use it, it buffs all nearby enemies but it reduces you max HP for 10%

@@Immortal_BP can be useful, in certain situation, the HP debuff is aplied only if you use the item, and in a gank of 3 people with moonvail for example, enemies with almost double the damage can be more useful than 10% more HP. Anyways, im just saying, the description is so imcomplete that almost no one truly know what it does
@Carl Sagan why would you not want to buff the mobs? They don't attack you and they can help you in a gank situation

you can also pair with the alexander shard for +20% damage in the weapon art, making it go beyond 2k damage in the right setup :D

Have you considered making a "PVP setup" guide for Elden Ring? What I mean by that is, how do you get important items, what areas are good to invade in at which SL and such? Would be amazing to see!
Dude, the game is out for 3 weeks or so and pretty long so many people haven't finished it yet. I don't think there's even a meta-level atm, though I've heard of 150 as a test.

If the soft cap for weapon scaling is still lvl 40, as it has been with just about every souls game, then meta lvl should still be 120-125 as with previous souls games. Pvp setup really is using things that you're comfortable with and know how to use. Check out the wiki for pvp related items and runes and grab the ones you think you'd like.
@@HuslWusl I keep seeing people say 150 should be what pvp is set at, I disagree completely. At lvl 150 it isn't even a build anymore.
Imo the floor should be 100 and should go no higher than 115-125.
Fellas I am not talking about meta, I specifically said "level for each area". I am asking "which level on average do you get good invasions in Limgrave or in Stormveil Castle or in Raya Lucaria" etc. For example in my experience RL30 invasions are pretty fun in Limgrave but in Stormveil castle you get full end game poise twinks spamming taunters tongues in trio ganks.

i run mohg spear and rivers together and fast swap between em and i been doing pretty well with it. definitely pretty broken but i really like the spear to deal with great shield turtles.

Marias Execution Greatsword's Weapon Art also benefits from Charge. So use Insignia and Godfrey's Icon to maximize it's damage.

Thats pretty low lv. You don't have a lot of HP normally at lv 30 so that doesn't surprise me at all since ur resistances are all low and low HP. Just a fyi if u didnt know max lv is 713

@@genesisosuna if you are fighting someone who can use that spear while your only lv 30, they are a much much higher level then you, I'm at lv 437 and when I 1-shot someone I got a message from them saying "how'd it feel to 1H a lv35". When there's no one at my level the game can find to invade it just throws u into anyone's world. But I've been 1H by someone who was max rank. Lv 30 is BARLEY into the game at all and thats a end game lv weapon
@@iTzLagz1995 theres always been a thing in these games where a friend can drop you a weapon much earlier than you're supposed to get it. It happens rather frequently
@@genesisosuna yes I'm aware of that but for that spear to use the WA you have to be at least lv 80+ to use it in a proper build unless ur going glass cannon because of the min requirement to use it

4:07 If you didn't know Chase, the charged weapon art for that weapon can still hit people right in front of you, the hitbox is long lol

So glad mohgwyns got the buff, also the dumbest part about it is if you use all three hits. The third hit box lingers for a second so if someone rushes you during it, it can and will insta-kill.
moghwyn's weapon art wont one shot you unless you have no vigour, which may be the case for a lot of ppl but it is still wrong. You should have around 1200hp at least, 30 vig more or less. That way NO ONE will one shot you.
There's also a straight sword version of the executioners blade with the same weapon art
you inspired me to become a PVP monster now I can handle 2v1 where before I could onlu do 1v1s, Im using bolt of grannax and bleed naginata is a really good build

Next try a blood mage build,. You will need the staff that scales with arcane to make it effective (Ironically not the one that buffs blood magic ) but with a arcane scaling staff, You can two shot most builds. And to top it off with such ability you can use another great arcane ;)

Currently enjoying Magma Wyrm Curved greatsword and the crucible knight spear. Weapon arts do some big damage, at least in pve.
The talisman “successful attacks” only works after 3rd hit on a combo I believe, you’ll see a red aura around you
May I ask is there any particular reason behind only putting your weapons to a certain upgrade like all those weapons youve shown were all either +7 for the specials and +17 on standard. Would it not be wise to increase them further for damage or is there some scaling after those upgrades that gives it diminishing returns or could it be the limitations on actually finiding the smihting stones to advance the upgrades? Im just really curious as Ive noticed it on quite a few invasion videos of CTB

Mohgwhyn's spear also has the ability to be used behind a shield in a phalanx attack. That's right, in case it wasnt op enough, you can also attack while blocking with a shield.
I use that to get those fuckers that are afk farming behind a wall that is on top of me

I love watching because I learn a lot and when I try out what I learned I crush the new players but the veterans know exactly what to do to get an edge.
