    Ever figure this out? I added LED flashers that are grounded. Still happens to me. It did however fix my hyperflash blinkers since my headlights are LED. But, tail, brake, front markers not working with LED bulbs still.

      Sorry man, I couldn't get it to work. Please check out some of the other comments, some guys had really good advice on getting this to work, I just quit messing with it because i got busy with other things.

    light back feeding! it's something to do with the lack of a ground now with the LED's. . . never found out how to fix this issue!

      Not likely on these circuits. Ground or no ground, they are control fed power. Anything is possible in auto electrical, but I'd be surprised if this was a ground issue.

    Great video. I installed the same LED on a 67 Camaro. The signal brake light work, but for some reason, the parking (running) lights stopped working. Any ideas of what it could be?

    You can have a short that is not powerful enough to operate the incandescents but will turn on the LED. Get a voltage tested and see if you have a power leak to the sockets.

      I agree or possibly go higher with a fuse voltage maybe.

    haha whats funny is what your seeing here happens the same time i put leds lights in my shop, even though you shut the power off, they will still run power through them because of the lack of ground.

    thank you so much! i just bought a 72 as my first car and my inner taillights are out. is the process the same for the outter tail lights and headlights? just unscrew and replace the bulbs? im gonna pick up some regular bulbs for the car and replace the 4 tail lights and 2 headlights and side markers. will they all use the same bulb? sorry im really new to this car and i got it a day ago and wanna get it on the road asap.

    • @crowvelle
      @crowvelle  3 роки тому +1

      I believe your '72 would be the same as mine. You shouldn't have "inner" tail lights, the two outer lights are your tail lights and brake lights. It'll be a dual-purpose bulb, with two filaments in each bulb. The inner lights are your reverse lights. I've never had to mess with the side market/parking lights but they're probably 1156's.
      Now, the headlights are different. It's not like newer cars where you change only the bulb. It's a whole assembly. The lens, bulb, & connector are one sealed unit. After removing the bezel, there should be two screws, (don't accidentally mess with the adjusters) these screws will remove the chrome trim that holds in the headlight itself. Simply unplug it, connect your new one, & reverse the process.
      Good news is these assembly's were common. You should be able to find some at Wal-Mart for like $8. Same goes for the bulbs.
      If you have an owner's manual, check that for bulb numbers. If you're going to the parts store, they can find them for you. Or, you can search them on eBay/Amazon, just enter your vehicle information.

      i plan on dailying the car, about how much was it for you to register and insure it?

      Yep..I have owned a 71 and 72....Exactly the same except chrome on front park turn on 71 which in my opinion looks better than the 72...also the grille is designed a little different but still interchangeable...
      Love those cars...

    Did you ever figure out the issue??

    • @crowvelle
      @crowvelle  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry, I did not. I tried a different relay that's supposed to be for LED flashers, but that didn't change anything.
      I pretty much just gave up & have been working on other things.
      Good luck, if you're thinking about doing the same. I may have a short somewhere, you may not have the same issue. Check the comments on this video, if you haven't already. People have given some great advice that may help you out.

    That is so weird. You would think if power is always going to the bulbs, your battery would run down just sitting there!

    I’m not sure if you figured it out, but I did an entire LED upgrade on my car similar to what you with the tail lights. The old style GM flasher will not work. You need an LED specific flasher. Even newer cars require an LED flasher to work properly. They will still work without it, but the polarity will be off and you will experience issues as shown in video and you will probably have hyper-flash when u hit turn signal. Check my video below at 5:50. I will also try to find the flasher I purchased and post the link for it as well. I also have a 71 Chevelle and I plan to do an LED upgrade in it too. Hope this helps.

    That's why auto electrical is such a fun spectator sport, lol, sorry man. If I had to take a guess I'd say you have a short to voltage upstream, probably the brake switch OR turn signal switch. Chevelles lighting is simple. Normal ground circuits and switched power circuits. A few suggestions,...take both bulbs out again, this time install passenger side only, see if it comes on, that way you'll know if the problem is on that branch or actually the combination of both. Another suggestion, once the lights are flowing on their own, trace it, unplug the brake switch, turn signal switch, and anything else that would cause a short. Take slow short steps. Meaning, check result after each move, thatllhelp you trace it out, good luck!

      There are two flashers. One is in the fuse block. The other is up by the radio. Change them both to led flashers. Get the ones with a ground pigtail and ground both flashers.
