14K nibs were used on m800 models for a few years, they are the sought after ones now, together with nibs with PF or EN marks. I have one 14K M800 with F nib, writes fantastic.
thanks a lot. The nib is in pretty good nick and i tried filling it with ink and it seems to write relatively well even though I can't remove the nib because of dried ink and i don't want to force it... Thanks again for the advice
Hi... A little difficult to say without seeing the pen,but im sure you could have the pen writing after giving the pen a service.Have it serviced as they are great pens to have. Good luck.
Hi..It does not mean it is not a M800 because of the 14k nib. Most of the Pelikan nibs are interchangeable therefore it is not unusual to have a 14K nib.In fact the 14k nib versions are quite sought after by some Pelikan collectors.
Hello. Very helpful video. I have a quick question if I may. I just received an M800 and filled it for the first time. I noticed when filled, the tip of the piston sits about halfway up the barrel. Is this where it should be? Thanks in advance - Peter
Someone called the m800 the ultimate pen. There's truth in it. If I could have only one pen, this would be a serious candidate. I especially like the translucent striped body which allows to monitor the ink level. As I am not a big fan of demonstrators, but I like to be able to check the ink I have left, this is a perfect intermediate style for me. Nice review, as always. I didn't know that the m800 came with 14kt nibs before; modern ones are 18kt.
Yes it is a very handsome pen, its a shame mine does not get used. I think a lot of the older (especially vintage) pens came with a 14kt or ct nibs. Thanks for watching.
If the pen has not been used for a while then try flushing the pen numerous times with clean water then with clean water inside try soaking the nib and section in clean water overnight. Most of the dried up ink should dissolve and you will have a nice clean pen to fill with ink and hopefully write with.....Good luck. PS Do not force anything.
Hello Steph, I have just started collecting and restoring old fountain pens. I am beginning with very inexpensive ones that I have won on EBAY for less than $20 just in case I destroy it. Your videos have been very helpful and given me the confidence that I can do this. One question I have; have you ever done a video showing how to replace the J-Bar in a pen. I have a beautiful celluloid pen that is almost 100 years old and the bar had disintegrated. I want to replace this and I wondered if you have a video showing this procedure.
Hi...Glad you like it,I have more reviews take a mooch. My collection is not that big as i am always rotating them.I find pens i like, then i may sell some.Im selling a couple on ebay if your interested @ welcome2stay. Please subscribe. Cheers.
A LIKE on this because of your review of such a great pen. I believe I have one in the other room; bought from Prof. Rick Propas last year. Your review could have actually done with actually fewer uses, actually, of the word "actually," actually.
Very thorough. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
Excellent pen and writer! And excellent review as always.

I’ve just bought a M800 with 14C F nib, circa 1987-1988. The pen writes like a dream. The bouncy nib surprises me!

This piston does not sit back to the bottom of the barrel and it does appear to be up the barrel
