When you're on the chairlift and your foot hurts from the weight of the board, just unstrap the front binding and let the board fall. You'll be amazed by how much lighter it feels!

A "hack" i've found is to put a keychain on your zipper of your jacket, so if you hold your phone on an inside pocket (like i do) it's easier to get the jacket undone with thick gloves on because you have a bigger pulley to grab on to.

Lots of things seem common sense once you hear it from someone else BUT can often take a lot of experience to work out for yourself!! Kevin, it's obviously that you've dealt with a lot of beginners as you treat them with respect by providing basic information without making them feel uncool!! I'm SURE that sooooo many new boarders have benefitted from this video over the years!!

1: Roll up your pant legs when you walking around on the parking lot or whatever and make your pant lasting a little bit longer
2: DO NOT TOUCH the glas of your goggles. They have a anti fog layer and touching and rubbing the glas will destroy this layer. So if you don't need your goggle during lunch for example put it in your goggle case
3: If it's pretty warm (spring time) put a swim short under your snowboardpants. It is getting dry really fast and after snowboarden you can just undress your wet snowboardpants and have nice comfortable ride home without sweating =)
4: Don't store your board in a boardbag after a snowboardday. Let it dry for 1-2 Days and wipe the edges with a towel to prevent rust
5: If it is really really cold and you don't want to cover your nose with a facemask put some tape on your nose or lube it with some grease (vanishing creme for example)

    1. Buy good snowboard specific pants and good gloves with wristguards. I highly recommend the suspender style of pants (Spyder makes some nice ones)--it will keep you nice and dry and will save you from ice rash in the event of a fall.
    2. Carry a screwdriver/snowboard tool all the time. You may not realize your bindings are loose until you get up to the top of the mountain for the first time. Loose bindings can break and are very dangerous to ride down with, especially on the first run of the day.
    3. If you think you may want to go snowboarding in the winter, shop early over the summer to get deals on last season gear.

I will add for the first one: don’t tighten up you snowb shoes until you will put the snowboard on the top of mountain on your feet. Often the problem is that your feet get a bit swollen, so when you tighten up you boots in the very beginning of the day before you even walk in them your feet will be overtight later, but if you walk a bit in your boots and your feet will become a bit bigger-swollen kinda, then you will tighten up the shoes and feel much more comfortable(p.s. I am snowboarding sometimes for 7-10 days from 9am to 7/8pm non stop in Alps. This trick always save me(especially on 3-4th day).
Second- for googles, there is a spray that can help to prevent that. If it doesn’t help and it’s super coldout there, then you just can put a napkin right in a very corner of your mask, it will absorb the humidity, or you can clean your mask from the fog just by cleaning fog with napkin by moving it inside of googles from one corner to another 😋

Snowboard hack for beginners: if you're riding in powder or deep snow and find yourself in a long chair lineup, take your board off and scrape all the snow out from your bindings and your sole every few runs otherwise it will turn into ice and you will have a hard time taking strapping in. Another hack for beginners: Use your powder skirt. It is there for a reason. If you find you are taking your gloves or mitts off all the time, put the lanyard on your wrists, don't rip them off and soon as you get them from the store. They are also there for a reason. I've been snowboarding all over the world and have been riding for 20-years. Good Vid!

For the ear bud hack, leave your left ear bud in. Left ear is associated with the right hemisphere of your brain. Allowing you to "enjoy" the music better. While the right ear going to the left hemisphere allows easier conversation interpretation, etc.

+McCANTS313 Actually ears don't change hemispheres. Sounds go straight to the temporal lobe on the same hemisphere. The brain processes what you hear evenly so any "effects" are just placebo. More than likely you just like listening with that side because it's your dominant ear.

In warmer weather conditions... You can use Paro wax, as a hot wax. It works awesome. Like $3 for a box. Buy a small travel iron at a thrift store, instead of a ski/board hot wax iron.
Rain x on your top sheet is great for no snow stick. Just dont put it where rest your foot when you push.
Pending on your boot manufacture, the laces can be junk.... Particularly 32. Get some good laces. Always have a spare set with you... as well as a multi tool and binding parts. Ladders and ratchets.

hey kev ! quick thought about the earbud hack, be carefull using it. having 2 different sources of volume will make the volume for each one of them feel twice as low... so a lot of people tend to increase the volume of their music. So for a exended period of time can cause serious and permenant damage to your earing ! i would then suggest finding a pair of earhpones that lets the ambiant sound go trough and deacrease the volume... Also within a few minute you'll naturally adjust to that volume and it wont feel as low as it actually is ! ....
Love the channel ! hope to go ride blackcomb and wistlersoon !
    Cheers from montreal !

Take a snowboard multi tool out with you. Someone's bindings always come loose at some point. There aren't always tools at every lift and sometimes they are pretty chewed up in any case. Burton Bullet is a nice compact one and you can use the flip up handle to hack ice out of the binding as well when it builds up.

    1. If you have earbuds that tend to fall out, put your hat completely over your ear to keep them in.
    2. If you want to use your phone on the slopes but don't want to risk it getting wet and you don't have a water proof case, just but a small ziplock back over it
    3. (this one is very common) If u don't like the feeling of all of your snowboard weight on one leg while your riding the lift, use your unstrapped foot to support the other half of your board.
    4. If you don't own a face mask, go shaun white style and use a bandana, fold it into a triangle and rap it around your neck and tie the ends in the back. Then just cover your face with it.

I use PAM cooking spray on the top sheet of my board. Spray on, rub excess off. Keeps the snow from building up and sticking to the top of the board.

Should I Snowboard or Ski? A few friends and I are going skiing in Easter and I'm not sure which one to do? I have been skiing four times and are a fairly confident. I have been snowboarding once but that was 6 years ago, and if I do it I will be by my self; but I really want to try it again. Which should I choose?

      Definately boarding
Have been skiing since I was 3 years old... Believe me boarding is sooo much more fun lol
Like what r they saying? I know many people that used to ski - but none that used to snowboard hahaha

    • @DangerDavez

I prefer snowboarding but how good are your friends at skiing. If they're pretty good and it's only your second time boarding maybe you should stick to skiing so you can keep up. You can also practice boarding a few times before Easter. That way you can keep up.

PRO TIP: Put your toe strap so that they pull on your toes instead of on top on your toes. It make your board a lot more responsive.

Hydration? Use a camelback or equivalent. That way, you can drink on the lift. To keep the nipple from freezing, wear the camelback under the jacket. Your body heat will keep it thawed. When you need to drink, unzip your jacket slightly and grab the hose.
Drink a quality hydration drink. Gatorade or powerade is not quality. Buy a mix at a bicycle shop, and experiment with various products until you find what you like. I prefer Skratch Labs myself.
Don't want your board stolen? Use the ski check if the mountain offers it. If they don't, buy a cable lock. Asshole thieves will find a easier target. $20 lock is a small price compared to several hundred for board and bindings. Should be obvious, but most people don't lock their equipment

i have been using 1 bar of wax for almost a year and a half and i go up almost every day. if you scrape the old wax off your board and rub the bar of wax on the board then iron it, it uses the bare minimum and it last just as long as if you drip waxed. and i always carry a camelback water backpack. stay hydrated!!!

Another hack is bring a smallish ocky strap that has hooks on either end for the chairlift rides, hook one end up to the heel of the bindings when the highback is down, and hook the other end of the strap to the handrail of the chair, then you can rest your foot
