I have 2 of the AI prime HD that i had for a while. For the price, built-in Wi-Fi, and sleek profile its isnt a bad deal. I would have to say since i recently bought a kessil a80 for my refuge that i also hold frags. I will be switching out my primes for the Kessil a360x. Due to the fact the my primes sometimes lose connections, and have a slight disco ball effect. Overall the primes have more pros then cons, and it is a bang for your buck.
@@prfinest07 I was looking at aqaticlife edge strip lights and they discontined the wifi from problem like that and said thateven ai was going to just bluetooth because of wifi problems. Does anyone know if the new ai are wifi or bluetooth? I wish I had more than 4 1/2 inches of clearance having a hard time figring which ones to get. %00.00 bucks to cover a nuvo 20 is a lot of money which is what the primes would be. I am scared of the kessil a80's because I have heard so many people say the blue is light and windex looking. I like a deep blue. So either the edge or 2 primes or reef breeders photon which is basically a big strip light! This is exactly what I needed! There’s no real hands on reviews for the new light. I have a question though. My LFS was trying to tell me to buy the previous version of this Prime light because the LEDs are “bigger” and it’s more powerful. What do you think? Should we get this new one or the version before?
Kerry Rush Go with the new one. The tighter cluster is a good thing. It improves color blending. The new one is just as bright (if not brighter, It packs a punch for a 55W light in my par tests) and has three more LEDs and a dedicated moon light. Perhaps they think the old cluster reduces shadowing but in practicality there is no difference. Also the removable fan screen in the new one is a big perk to keeping it clean. My guess is that your LFS is motivated to sell off old inventory.
Puff Daddy Reef Great thanks for the quick response. You probably nailed it, because they still haven’t received the new Primes yet either, they’re waiting for their “head office” to let them know when they’ll get them. If only it didint have so much disco but It has great color and I feel this is the perfect light to combine with a t5! Might just do that, but would have to build a canopy
Your sound meter range is 31.5Hz ~ 8.5KHz. In my experience with the freshwater, there is a high-pitched whine present when the fan is running at low speeds(i.e. moonlight). I'm not sure if your meter could pick that up. Thanks for the sound measurements. Looks like I'll be selling my Prime and switching to Ke$$il...

Haha came here looking to see if an AI prime hd would be good for my old nuvo 8! Little did I know that you would test it on the exact tank! So, at the end of the day did you like this light on this tank?
This seems to drop par fast. I heard several people say on review and on brs review of this light that they had 2 or a 36 bowfront but if your only getting 120 par at 12 inches then this would not be powerful enough. my tank is 21 inches deep so I couldnt grow anything on sand bed? Would you recomend 2 90 watts then? I know several people use 2 on a 40 breeder as well but I dont think 40 breeder is as deep. I know its 36 wide. It did just dawned on me I can borror from other channels though so maybe that will work. Doe s this have 12 k white? Also has uv thats below 400 right? I always see really low maybe mixed with 20 k white, so thats one thing I have been looking at and also finding a uv and not jus lavender. I believe IO read uv is blow 400 and 400 is acentic. About the only light that has this spectrum is radion and a cheap pop bloom that I also considered that has 4 channels believe it or not and looks good on a lot of youtubes and noopsyche. I am trying not o go pat 450.00 for 2 lights or evn one that is oon legs like a photon or qmaven. Qmaven has no shimmer but everything else and this has to much! haha.
