The silicon chip inside her head Gets switched to overload And nobody's gonna go to school today She's going to make them stay at home And daddy doesn't understand it He always said she was as good as gold And he can see no reason 'Cause there are no reasons What reason do you need to be sure Oh, oh, oh tell me why I don't like Mondays Tell me why I don't like Mondays Tell me why I don't like Mondays I want to shoot The whole day down The Telex machine is kept so clean As it types to a waiting world And mother feels so shocked Father's world is rocked And their thoughts turn to their own little girl Sweet sixteen ain't that peachy keen Now, it ain't so neat to admit defeat They can see no reasons 'Cause there are no reasons What reason do you need oh, woah Tell me why I don't like Mondays Tell me why I don't like Mondays Tell me why I don't like Mondays I want to shoot The whole day down Down, down Shoot it all down All the playing's stopped in the playground now She wants to play with her toys a while And school's out early and soon we'll be learning And the lesson today is how to die And then the bullhorn crackles And the captain tackles With the problems and the how's and why's And he can see no reasons 'Cause there are no reasons What reason do you need to die, die Oh, oh, oh and the silicon chip inside her head Gets switched to overload And nobody's gonna go to school today She's going to make them stay at home And daddy doesn't understand it He always said she was as good as gold And he can see no reason 'Cause there are no reasons What reason do you need to be sure Tell me why I don't like Mondays Tell me why I don't like Mondays Tell me why I don't like, I don't like, I don't like Mondays Tell me why I don't like, I don't like, (tell me why) I don't like Mondays Tell me why I don't like Mondays I want to shoot, the whole day down, uh, uh, uh
Just awesome, brings back memories great job!!! Was watching it on work and clapped my hands by instinct at the beginning of the song. anyone else here because of House?
You guys that play by ear are by far the best..... you have the emotion in your playing unlike some of the people that play from music...... I wish your recording had a little less reverb, though that may be on my end. Thanks for Playing for us.
As a Rats fan I was really disappointed when I heard "Mondays" for the first time. I believe it was their first hit single outside the UK and Ireland. I knew their first stuff and liked the catchy punky rock songs, although they never were accepted in the punk rock scene (whatever that was). Now I hear this song, pure, no lyrics, no voices. And now I realise what a excellent song this is. Simple, but beautiful chords. The way you perform it, well I think Johnny Fingers can be proud of you.
I dont have the sheet music I make up my own versions by ear and rarely play exactly the same way twice, I can give you the chords I play around if that helps

I'm here because of the history behind this song. More than 30 years ago a 16 year old girl shot on students 40 times and killed the principal und the caretaker. So the police caught her and asked her why she did this and she answered the whole time "I don't like mondays" that's because this song exists. Furthermore I'd like to mention that this girl has been sitting in jail for more than 30 years now. And she's still in there... nobody knows if she'll ever come out of there again...
@bloodhound2239 There are no doubts, it takes about half hour to get basic chords with melody for a tune such as this but that would be a basic version. That would be basic verse and chorus. Then another session or two to work out intro, ending etc...but you end up playing it over and over anyway and add and embellish over time so what you play one month after your original version sounds much better. Not used to learning by ear will take a lot longer but the more you do it the better you get
Fantastic rendition! And I'm blown away that you play by ear. And that given that you play by ear, that you've obviously invested quite a bit of money in equipment. I was thinking how awesome it would be to walk into a Nordstrom's department store and hear the piano player doing this song. ;-) It'd never happen, but it would be excellent. :D Again, incredible job.
I learnt this from ear and so do not have the sheets but if you want to know the basic chords just message me and i can point you in the right direction
Incredible song and beautifully played. The sad tragedy of this song is that it's a protest song about a schoolyard shooting in the USA, which happened on a Monday. the TRAGEDY about that is it still happens.
sirmattblack, I didn't hear the straight downward bass at the beginning of the chorus... makes sense, though. Thanks for this great rendition! (I learn most stuff by ear now as well).
This was in Dr. House ... Great track!
+@anna mayney That's why I'm here :)
Ah dr house? How old are you obviously not to the Original?
@@PrOFiT93 me too 😁
Just watched the episode!
Without a doubt the best piano cover I have heard.
100% agree
The best cover of this song I've ever heard. You sir, are gifted!
Was watching it on work and clapped my hands by instinct at the beginning of the song.
I still clap too. I guess that's a deep part of the silicone chip within my head!
Ditto!
The silicon chip inside her head
Gets switched to overload
And nobody's gonna go to school today
She's going to make them stay at home
And daddy doesn't understand it
He always said she was as good as gold
And he can see no reason
'Cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need to be sure
Oh, oh, oh tell me why
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
I want to shoot
The whole day down
The Telex machine is kept so clean
As it types to a waiting world
And mother feels so shocked
Father's world is rocked
And their thoughts turn to their own little girl
Sweet sixteen ain't that peachy keen
Now, it ain't so neat to admit defeat
They can see no reasons
'Cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need oh, woah
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
I want to shoot
The whole day down
Down, down
Shoot it all down
All the playing's stopped in the playground now
She wants to play with her toys a while
And school's out early and soon we'll be learning
And the lesson today is how to die
And then the bullhorn crackles
And the captain tackles
With the problems and the how's and why's
And he can see no reasons
'Cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need to die, die
Oh, oh, oh and the silicon chip inside her head
Gets switched to overload
And nobody's gonna go to school today
She's going to make them stay at home
And daddy doesn't understand it
He always said she was as good as gold
And he can see no reason
'Cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need to be sure
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like, I don't like, I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like, I don't like, (tell me why) I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
I want to shoot, the whole day down, uh, uh, uh

I liked the use on House. It made sense to the story for me. I'm here due to the Boomtown Rats!
