There is no doubt in my mind that if Blizzard decided to scrap Reforged, erased the client, and reinstated classic TFT as it was just before Reforged came out (aside from subsequent balance updates), the entire playerbase would be grateful and call it an improvement. That tells you everything you need to know about this "remaster." They forcibly took away our game, smashed it with a hammer, and gave it back to us and said, "You're welcome, that'll be 30 dollars."
Fuck blizzard man. They gave us an amazing game with wc3 that was infinitely replayable and a billion games thanks to custom maps and they learned from that mistake... never overlook an opportunity to nickle and dime your fans for all they are worth.
i played reforged for probably 1 year before i quit with their promise of "We going to fix it, add the missing stuff." it really hurt that they didn't give wc3 the resources it deserve i was so hyped that Reforged was going to bring back a healthy player base and stuff when i heard of it, and 4 years later i still want it, wc3 is the game i miss the most and there's no good replacement for it. Oh well at least we're getting Stormgate but it's not wc3. Good Video! :)

Literally, as I'm watching this, the bug that launched with reforged whereby you join a custom game, only to be put in a brand-new, completely empty lobby, and then the UI breaks, happened. It's been nearly 6 years and we can't even trust the game not to break by trying to... ...join a game.
A note on tutorials. I think the best tutorial for new Warcraft 3 players is playing through all the campaign missions. The genius of old Blizzard shines through in the pacing of the campaigns, they teach you the basics of the game step by step through each mission. Maybe that's not enough for advanced competitive play but I don't think it's Blizzard's job to teach players how to reach a competitive level.
The community is saving Warcraft, we, the fans, the gamers who love Warcraft III. And the most; pros like Grubby are the ones that are responsible for the amazing lifespan of our beloved game. On the the other hand Blizzard almost killed it, Reforged was a big failure. I actually play the game with the classic graphics, and I doubt that a considerable amount of players use the Reforged "enhanced" graphics.
Oh man, the new graphics… the first thing I did when I opened the game, went straight to options and changed to classic. Once a host has made a game that allowed only to be playable with the new graphics on, gave it a try and it looked horrible, haven’t done that mistake again since then.
I'm so glad we have ZeroSpace and StormGate releasing in the next few years. Sucks that our childhood intellectual property is dead in the water, but at least we have passionate indie devs striving to make good RTS games. [also, I want to add, something needs to change in the gaming industry. This kind of business would never happen in any other industry. Reforged: has made one of the most abominable UIs with terrible UX designs that's just a giant disgrace both to the original UI and to RTS games of the era Warcraft 3 was from. That one guy in Grubbys stream: hurr Durr the UI is dramatically better than the original one. Sure buddy, sure.
WC3 reforged for me was reviving 1v1 bnet ladder games that I'd played like 15-22 years ago, so I was confused by some of the backlash bc - (one, I missed the 2020 launch bugs) and (two, I wasn't really super aware of or attached to wc3 legacy details outside of vague memories). I understand some of the hate related to overpromising and launch bugs (full release before it was really ready) though I missed out on most of it. Also, there are specific things I'd like them to improve like in SC2 style UI shortcuts (instead of having to edit a text file) and like being able to assign hotkeys to hero items which seem to not have any by default idk maybe shift+[1-6] or alt+[1-6] or alt+[F1-F6] for hero items. Another gripe is they should add a 5 4 3 2 1 counter after map load and/or have the workers auto mine to start bc sometimes I'm half afk while the ladder games load. However, I'd tend to say my complaints are actually less than SC2 and D4 - for example you can't even zoom out in SC2 and D4 which still annoys me more than anything I see in WC3. Overall I like WC3 Reforged a lot but understand some of the concerns.
Biggest crime to me is the cutscene where Thrall's chain lightning arcs across Archimond's body. They replaced it with a basic attack! The scene is objectively worse now.

That should be illegal. I had WC3 full edition and when reforged launched I lost access to it, turns out I bought reforged and reforged graphics don't work on my hardware, meaning I essentially had to rebuy the same game I already had on a inferior client lol. What a f***ing disgrace!

The segment about the ladder stats hits home. It's the same in SC2. Some information is saved, some isn't, sometimes you get placed into the correct league, sometimes you're not. Some bugs are reintroduced with every new ladder season, just to be patched a few days later. Other bugs have been around for a decade and are never fixed. What on earth are they doing? At least SC2 has the technology to count games correctly.

14:35 this interface honestly isn't THAT bad, it has a tremendous amount of information, and since it's from dropdown menus, you could just display it for 3 seconds at a time while observing to get a lay of the land. If it was linked to hotkeys it would be perfect. Also I think the fact heroes have all the abilities and item slots makes designing a ui much harder

All that WC3 needed was a platform that offered no ingame delay, Matchmaking. A reportsystem for hackers and cheaters. Maybe some UI scaling. And maybe a tool for hotkeys. I just dont understand how a company like Blizzard was not able to Take the entire textures of the units and wrap them around a New model with some more polygons.
Grubby is the only guy I followed in wc3 back in the day and still. I think he was responsible for me keeping a 86%+ arranged team game record over easily a thousand games in frozen throne like 20ish years ago. My little brother (RIP Infantry Marine) was grandmaster in sc2 every year til he died basically because of Grubby style of play in wc3 when he was young and played with me.

Imagine in 10 years some investigators find the bodys of Pete and Nicholas somewhere in the desert and its all traced back to Bobby. Its not even far of a stretch. Once Grubby asked Nicholas about Pete he disappeared just the same.
The only thing that stopped me from refunding it was the amazing projects some people managed to pull off despite this tragic "definitive warcraft III experience" that blizzard gave us. Re-reforged and Chronicles of the Second War are some amazing campaings that truly took the game to the next level. That was what I expected with reforged, hands up to the fans that carried the game.
I suppose someone does need to share this video with blizzard. Also, a lot of graphic issues with reforged graphics (Low fpsm even on high tech equipment, and toxic green grass makes my eyes die). They could end-up the graphics at least by fixing these things...

Got the deluxe version for 20 bucks on sale this summer, honestly not bad if it's on sale, especially given the goodies you get in other blizz games like WoW mount but I thought it was absolutely fine as a single player campaign. I'm extremely casual but found no major issues, never played the original and have no interest in multiplayer. I liked the campaigns and story though. Pretty cool project from Blizz as a side game to play in your downtime, I don't consider this a mainline release though. Sort of like the Blizz Arcade Collection or something.
Will we see this game improve? I really want to play Warcraft 3 but reddit says it's not worth playing still. Do we also think this will come to steam along other blizzard games?

I do want to play all of these games, but I told myself I'll buy them when it comes to steam since blizzard games are in the process of going to steam. I was even in a chat on a private server about warcraft and the guy was complaining how so many games shouldn't change their genre and should stay as they were, unreasonably so; but when someone pointed out that Warcraft started as an RTS not MMORPG the guy went really quiet. He literally had no idea that the game he was playing was a spinoff itself and his argument against other games made him a hypocrite. I don't blame the guy though, I doubt many blizzard fans even know about warcraft 3, or even warcraft 2! Warcraft 1 never even comes up in chat; but it shows how long it has been for a warcraft rts and how little acti-blizz cares about it. Even less know that Acti-blizz is the parent company of blizzard and activision; but instead of renaming to make it less confusing; they just copy pasted their properties as their parent company name, so it makes less sense when they got king and vicarious visions but aren't in the parent name. I genuinely think Grubby should be a hired by Blizzard/Microsoft ahead of their soft relaunch endeavors to at least ensure its success this time around. Could you please apply for a position at blizzard? This would give you the option to release GrubbyTalks videos about the development progress on a regular basis and gather community feedback efficiently, prioritize the feedback and ensure players receive the kind of quality they expect from Blizzard games.
They probably did it with HP, Mana and EXP bar because of a new ftat and minimalistic design trends, althou you are a 100% right about color contrast between white on green and even white on blue, it looks horrible, esp for people with color blindness.
WC3 Reforged is literally the most dissapointed thing that happened in my gaming life. I still remember the day my brother brought CDs of W3 RoC and we had a blast playing. We were so hyped about playing again and this fiasco really felt like a stab in the wound. Like a level 25 Mortred crit hit.

I played WC3 Reforge when it came out, couldn't finish a game without disconnect. I ask a refund and it was accepted and completed. Some month later, I checked in my Bnet app and I could still install the game (for free). For a free game i think it's ok but it's definitively a robbery if you paid for that.
You STILL can't change the map pan hotkeys to WASD without 3rd party software. I refunded reforged years ago because of that and crickets on a possible fix.

Bought it this week (Jun 24). Still massive bugs. Reforged graphics still having issues, in my case, running on AMD Ryzen 5000 APU (with 2024 drivers), having frame drops each 2 seconds (60 to 50), stuttering the cursor for a micro second each time. Saw on the web that is a common long time issue on AMD graphics. Unplayable at this state for me. Whtat f***ing disgrace they done with such a revolutionary, iconic piece of gaming history. 😢
It was only 6 years between the nit well recieved aoe2:HD and the far superior aoe2:DE, so maybe in 2 years Warcraft 3:DE will come out. Right?... right?
Warcraft 3: Reforged is the reason i removed the blizzard launcher from my pc and gave up on their games. 4 years after i can't say they made me regret my choices.
Even if they make Reforged "better' than the origional they have completely lost the goodwill of consumers and the momentum they needed. Even if they make it the best game ever created people aren't gonna come rushing back.

Some maps in Frozen Throne are decent preparation for online play.

Even if the graphics didn't suck, it's unplayably slow. I go from like 100 fps to 15 in reforged, loading is 2 minutes instead of 2 seconds.

About the stacking of the music,I can confirm it happened to me in a custom campaign for TOO many times in the last period.

Imagine in 10 years some investigators find the bodys of Pete and Nicholas somewhere in the desert and its all traced back to Bobby. Its not even far of a stretch. Once Grubby asked Nicholas about Pete he disappeared just the same.
The only thing that stopped me from refunding it was the amazing projects some people managed to pull off despite this tragic "definitive warcraft III experience" that blizzard gave us. Re-reforged and Chronicles of the Second War are some amazing campaings that truly took the game to the next level. That was what I expected with reforged, hands up to the fans that carried the game.

They should restore the pre-Reforged version of the game and make a big deal about it and call it Warcraft 3 Classic.

I suppose someone does need to share this video with blizzard. Also, a lot of graphic issues with reforged graphics (Low fpsm even on high tech equipment, and toxic green grass makes my eyes die). They could end-up the graphics at least by fixing these things...
There is noone left at Activision, stop calling it blizzard, that gives a hoot. They are all long, long gone.

Got the deluxe version for 20 bucks on sale this summer, honestly not bad if it's on sale, especially given the goodies you get in other blizz games like WoW mount but I thought it was absolutely fine as a single player campaign. I'm extremely casual but found no major issues, never played the original and have no interest in multiplayer. I liked the campaigns and story though. Pretty cool project from Blizz as a side game to play in your downtime, I don't consider this a mainline release though. Sort of like the Blizz Arcade Collection or something.

Its like 15% better than on release. I think that the most we can get is bugfixes at best and occasional balance patches

I do want to play all of these games, but I told myself I'll buy them when it comes to steam since blizzard games are in the process of going to steam. I only use battle net launcher for Starcraft 2, I just can't be asked to use battle net launcher haha.
@34:49 I agree about the warcraft franchise being associated with just WoW. I was even in a chat on a private server about warcraft and the guy was complaining how so many games shouldn't change their genre and should stay as they were, unreasonably so; but when someone pointed out that Warcraft started as an RTS not MMORPG the guy went really quiet. He literally had no idea that the game he was playing was a spinoff itself and his argument against other games made him a hypocrite.
I don't blame the guy though, I doubt many blizzard fans even know about warcraft 3, or even warcraft 2! Warcraft 1 never even comes up in chat; but it shows how long it has been for a warcraft rts and how little acti-blizz cares about it. Even less know that Acti-blizz is the parent company of blizzard and activision; but instead of renaming to make it less confusing; they just copy pasted their properties as their parent company name, so it makes less sense when they got king and vicarious visions but aren't in the parent name.
The whole company is a mess atm XD
I genuinely think Grubby should be a hired by Blizzard/Microsoft ahead of their soft relaunch endeavors to at least ensure its success this time around.
Could you please apply for a position at blizzard? This would give you the option to release GrubbyTalks videos about the development progress on a regular basis and gather community feedback efficiently, prioritize the feedback and ensure players receive the kind of quality they expect from Blizzard games.
They probably did it with HP, Mana and EXP bar because of a new ftat and minimalistic design trends, althou you are a 100% right about color contrast between white on green and even white on blue, it looks horrible, esp for people with color blindness.

WC3 Reforged is literally the most dissapointed thing that happened in my gaming life. I still remember the day my brother brought CDs of W3 RoC and we had a blast playing. We were so hyped about playing again and this fiasco really felt like a stab in the wound. Like a level 25 Mortred crit hit.

I played WC3 Reforge when it came out, couldn't finish a game without disconnect. I ask a refund and it was accepted and completed. Some month later, I checked in my Bnet app and I could still install the game (for free). For a free game i think it's ok but it's definitively a robbery if you paid for that.
You STILL can't change the map pan hotkeys to WASD without 3rd party software. I refunded reforged years ago because of that and crickets on a possible fix.

Bought it this week (Jun 24).
Still massive bugs.
Reforged graphics still having issues, in my case, running on AMD Ryzen 5000 APU (with 2024 drivers), having frame drops each 2 seconds (60 to 50), stuttering the cursor for a micro second each time. Saw on the web that is a common long time issue on AMD graphics.
Unplayable at this state for me.
