Have been using the Mini since the first gen. By far my favorite tech product. My phone usually sits unused at home because I use my iPad Mini all evening 😁
I am fine with the upgrades to the 6. I was just hoping for the bezel to be thinner and the orientation of the camera to be in landscape. I actually had the 6 in space grey. Pre ordered the 7 in space grey cancelled it and went in store and bought the blue. Which to me is much nicer looking for a mini. My pro is always black or space grey. I also had the same cover and was going to keep it but once switching to blue had to change to the charcoal cover.
@@J.B-is8fbpeople definitely would for the size. I personally know a couple of people who bought the new pro in the biggest size because they like their tech to be big (one of these people also upgraded to the 16 pro max). It would lessen sales, but definitely wouldnt disappear
As an Android user I was legit going to switch to Apple with the iPad Mini but I came to the same realization when it was released. I waited years for this release. I was looking for higher res, 120hz, oled, small bezels, larger base storage and they missed on all of them. Ah well... such a huge disappointment.
Those features are coming to the next in 3 years or so, I was going to get this latest model but after the disappointment I'm thinking of getting the mini 6 so that I can have a reason to upgrade when the next one arrives
Team iPad Mini 7 (purple) - coming from a Mini 5 with a wonky charging port. I also have an iPad Pro 11 inch as well as an iPhone 16 Pro Max. So there’s a little bit of a geek in me. But I am really happy because I used my Mini more than any other device that I have, and I’m not even talking about the non-Apple devices that I have.
Why? This is the one iPad that is held in the hands almost 100% of the time while the rest spend at least half the time in a case. If you’re always holding this, you want large bezels to avoid phony touches.
So disappointed. Like you and many others, I waited and waited and waited for the new iPad Mini. What a letdown! I mainly use my Mini for travel to avoid bringing a laptop, especially as an e-reader, on long-haul flights. The battery life in the 6ht generation was/is abysmal. When I heard that no upgrades were made to the battery in the new one, it was like, "Why bother?" spending money with an upgrade? What a letdown! Great review. By the way, your initial review is similar to that of every other reviewer for this launch. All are saying the same thing. What a letdown!
It's not named iPad mini 7 tho, cuz it's so little upgrades its just called iPad mini 2024 😅 I love the size tho, tempted to try it out, but overkill when I already rockin the fold6.. Maybe buy a cheaap nicely used iPad mini 6, if the upgrades are so small. Would love a oled screen (knowing apple it would have increased the price with 300$) or at least smaller bezels and faster charging.. The saddest part is that the jelly scrolling thing is better but not completely fixed..
Never had an iPad, but use an iPhone and AirPods. I have progressive vision loss so this seems like a sensible solution for now. My only question is WiFi or cellular version? And those that do have cellular connectivity on an iPad what’s the cost per month on average?
The reason why this mini uses a Pencil Pro is because Apple is retiring the Pencil 2. Notice that not a single current model uses the Pencil 2 anymore. All of them with the exception of the base iPad uses both the USB-C Pencil or the Pencil Pro.
@@ballooneyjr4294 First, everyone wants to make money, so there’s no crime in that. Second, it streamlines their lineup. Why support three Pencils when you don’t have to? They are under no obligation to continue manufacturing and selling a Pencil they no longer want to support. I would not be surprised if the next base iPad supports the Pencil Pro and they slowly phase out the USB-C Pencil just to get rid of another item they probably consider to be clutter. If it were only to make money, they’d have raised the price on the Pencil Pro. That it sells for an identical price to the Pencil 2 makes the demise of the Pencil 2 obvious. They were telegraphing the Pencil 2 was going away, They’ll continue selling the Pencil 2 for a while for those with older iPads, but eventually those sales will taper off to nothing.
@@techinrl9869 Me personally I'm petty and I might have upgraded if all I had to do was upgrade my device, but then I have to buy all new accessories too? It's not like they're cheap, apple pencil and magic keyboard were almost $500
@@techinrl9869 if they're going to be upgrading accessories frequently they need to make things backwards compatible, they really arent doing themselves any favors given that already nobody wants to upgrade their iPad since its bottlenecked by software

Thanks. Currently I use Davinci Resolve. They have a free version (and paid version)…but I was using Final Cut Pro before this and iMovie before that.
