When this song crossed over to pop, my mom and dad fell in love all over again--and they were RETIRED, in Florida!! For heaven's sake, if this song can DO THAT, then he REALLY HAD SOMETHING!!! *I saw him in person, and he was GREAT!!!
True, live performance. No lip sync, no recorded piano, not a replay of the recording that was *_huge._* A real man, who married Margaret Ann Greene in 1952 and didn't leave her until he died in 1995. He often credited her songwriting to his success.
He was a genuinely NICE guy. I'm from and in Memphis Tennessee. I worked weekends at his home here in town in a Security Position. He was just a regular guy. A friend to us. God Bless Charlie.
Do you by chance remember a 16yo kid driving into his driveway asking to meet him, lol? A security guy came out and said, hold on, I’ll be back. He came back and said Charlie was exhausted but “here’s a signed photo”. If that was you, Thank you sir!
Hey! Thanks for your anecdote. Wow, you knew him. Here in Australia, Charlie Rich was big in the '70s, he was a genuine cross-over artist with a unique voice, known for his 2 massive hits in 1973. Glad to hear he was a nice guy, I imagine him as laid-back. A very versatile artist. We recall The Silver Fox nearly 28 years after he died.
this is such good memories from my Childhood as my Dad was a devoted Country WesternMusic lover who could als carry a tune , he always had it playing in our family car on trips and later on as a teenager it was always playing in our Garage on my old Clock Radio where he and I did many projects together like restoring his Antique Automobiles. or fixing my used Cars together my Dad often sang along to Charlie Rich, Charlie Pride ,Johnny Cash , Waylon Jennings ,and many other great Country Artists in tune and on beat with the song playing myself would often be under a Car or Truck enjoying the Music and hearing my Dad happy as well as bolting or unbolting whatever project we were working on hecand i actually built the garage. attached to our family home along with a major renovation to that structure and as a result of all those things he taught me i was able to make a good living that i enjoyed Working with my own hands as a Professional Woodworker i also brought my Children up on Country music and have often heard them reference songs and lessons learned from HankWilliams Jr ., John Denver, Willie , and many other greats as i too always had it playing on family car trips and out on my boat which for myself are more great Memories unfortunately my singing voice is not like my Fathers
Charlie if you look back in his beganings his roots are old school and he developed his own style upon that. He's a legand in country music , his own style his looks his musical talents. All will live on . just a genius . rip brother Rich Jeff Petree Monroe Mi ✌
It's a shame that charlie rich has been forgotten nowadays i hope that someday he would still be remembered. i still remember the first time listening to behind closed doors,i was only 8 years old but his song is my ringtone now.i just wish that charlie has a chance to bounce back after all the years he has worked for.i only wish that he gets more recognition then 110 views as he has worked for far more then that.
My daughter is 30 and just picked up one of his albums at a thrift store, she remembers this song and the most beautiful girl in the world for sure. Anyway that says something about him not being totally forgotten. I loved his rich voice when I was a young kid.
I'm a person that generally turns mainstream country off when I hear it. But I respect the musicians and the songwriting(It's like pop or rock, 98% is crap)Charlie is like Chet,Elvis or Glen Campbell , from that beautiful era of crossover hits.
A cousin of mine brought her shizu Lollipop over to meet my poochin Oreo yesterday. I think they fell in love 😂 I was awakened late last night and Oreo had my phone, he was listening to this song. Oreo is grounded for a week 😅 Carry On...
I love Charlie Rich, but you shouldn't judge other people by what they like or dislike. Remember what our Savior said. "Judge not lest ye be judged. Condemn not lest ye be condemned."
That song was considered "risque" for its time. Country music was considered a "clean", or "G-rated" genre until this song. Why? What do you think the man implies happens with a woman "behind closed doors". Hello!
What I don't understand is why no man has ever mentioned online that he is actually proud of me or that I'm even important in life to just say my name or that he's proud of me its those others chicks that seem to matter more to him then me .no one has ever been proud of Margo wynn

I feel Charlie Rich's soul. Sweet it is.
Awesome choice Fil. It was a monster hit for Charlie in 1973.
His son Charlie Rich JR sings this song aswell just brilliant 🖤

This is an ultimate compliment to any lady.
He was a genuinely NICE guy. I'm from and in Memphis Tennessee. I worked weekends at his home here in town in a Security Position. He was just a regular guy. A friend to us. God Bless Charlie.
I have always enjoyed the music of Charlie Rich and always had this feeling that he was a genuine nice guy. Thanks for confirming.
