I almost bought this yesterday but the reviews aren't very good. Couldn't take the risk over getting Scarlett 3rd gen. This was my first option though.
If you want an amp that can do a bit of recording then the Spark is the way to go. If you want to do some better recording then the Riff is the way to go. The Riff offers much better quality recording at 24 bit up to 96khz where the Spark is 16bit 44.1hz. The Spark driver isn’t the greatest and the audio interface functionality in general is not the greatest. I recorded and mixed an entire track on the Riff, including vocals. I mixed using headphones plugged into it but also connected some monitors too. I wouldn’t have been able to do all of that with the Spark. So the advantage would all depend on what your primary goal of the product is. If it’s to have a small amp with some basic recording capabilities then the Spark has the advantage. If your goal is to mainly do some decent recording then the Riff has the advantage.
Nice demo, thanx. Can you use just as input to record and have an other audio device for the sound coming out of your speakers. For example a Mackie mixer?
It is possible to do that if you use something like Asio4all to route your audio. You could connect the output of the riff to an input on the mixer and then monitor it through the mixer that way.
That is all you’re recording with this. The amps and effects are from plugins or the app on iOS. If you record your guitar while using the plugin, you are only recording the direct signal and the plugin is an effect that you can change later or take off completely. You can use any plugin with it, you don’t have to use the bias FX software. If you want to remap the audio that you record through it then you can do that without the amp plugin on.
Just tried the Bias fx 2 myself and found no recommendations about needing an interface when buying the $210 download! You have that mixer on screen, so do I, but no way to use it with this and my PC. Can only go through the PC so one volume for everything! I have Spotify for songs, the mixer for guitar volume but all of this in this method only goes through the PC which goes into the mixer. I love PG tones on my Spark. Would love to get these tones but run through my mixer and PA to give it that punch in volume. With headphones the Spark is awesome, but I don’t want to use headphones all the time.
Not with the interface itself but if you download a recording program (DAW software) then you can record, save, edit, add even more FX, whatever you want.
Great video! 🙏 Can you put Bias fx in the iPad? I really want to buy this thing. What about garage band? Sorry. New to this. Remember working with Focusrite.
It will work with any amp sim and DAW. I actually recorded and mixed an entire track using this and it works quite well. Nice low latency and great sound. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍
It’s an audio interface so you’ll hear any processing that you do in the software. If you use bias FX amp sim then you’ll hear the guitar processed through that. You can also use this to listen to music through or watch videos through. Plus record and edit entire songs. If you aren’t familiar with audio interfaces, think of this like an external soundcard.
@@AudioTechTVcan this be adapted to use on android tablets/phones, if so how. don't understand why they stopped it for this everything else uses android (I have the spark 40)
It's not even designed for a PC. It's an Apple toy. To use it on PC you have to download unstable software. And it uses a Micro USB. Was it designed 10 years ago? Pass.

This thing is great! What’s the best way to hook up to a frfr? Do I need a 1/4 to 3.5mm stereo cable? Then plug into the aux on the frfr?
Whats the advantage of the riff over a positive grid spark which is not only a audio interface but has speakers as well as a headphone jack? 🤔

I heard it works with phones too. Is that true?
2 things I'm sad about, it doesn't use USB c and the lack of android connection 😢
Anker has wonderful adapters that will make usb scarcity no longer a problem
It was designed for Apple. I'm going to pass on it.

Sorry to bother you I’m new to all this but I’m finding it hard to set up just doesn’t sound good at all any ides thanks

What are your thoughts on the riff vs irig

Wonder if it works with Youcisian, Rocksmith 2014 and or Rocksmith Plus.
Can you use Tonebridge with the riff thanks
Yes you can use it with any amp sim.
@@AudioTechTV that’s great thanks for the reply

Hi can you record and save recording?

@@AudioTechTV thank you
Nice Demo ! How did you managed to run your Bias FX 2 LE on your Ipad ?
It’s the Bias FX 2 app from the App Store. Thank you for watching keep creating! 👊👍
@@AudioTechTVjust asked the same question. Sorry. I have the answer now. 😊

It will work with an iPad and GarageBand. You can grab the bias FX app from the App Store.
@@AudioTechTV thanks so much ! 🙏🙏🙏
Nice review/demo! I hadn't heard of this one before. I wonder if it would with Jamkazam? Worth checking out, for sure. Thanks.

Question, what you're listening through your headphones is the sound processed by bias fx? or just the direct sound of your guitar?
It’s an audio interface so you’ll hear any processing that you do in the software. If you use bias FX amp sim then you’ll hear the guitar processed through that.
You can also use this to listen to music through or watch videos through. Plus record and edit entire songs.

Will the Riff work on my MSI Laptop ? or does it only work on an Ipad?
It will work on a laptop or desktop too. I actually created an entire song using only the riff on my PC.

Was considering this until I read it has Micro USB.
Really?

Weird. I only use pc and got it to work super easy.
