  • Ken and I discuss a new coyote target that not only looks awesome but is designed around dimensions ken has gotten himself over years and years of coyote hunting. Ken shows how he got those dimensions on 2 real coyotes and how the targets are set up to mimic the real thing so you can not only hit the coyote but drop it in its tracks so you don't have to go looking for it. Check the target out here... www.atlastarge...

Very nice target! A real bonus in that the target is based on the actual real-world anatomy of a coyote gleaned from years as a predator hunter and not based on an assumption of where the vitals might be found by someone who has never shot, let alone skinned a coyote. 👍👍

Great information on the fur density. This is a great help.

Great information, about the difference in size with the fur/hair on.
It's something that I have tried to point out to new hunters for decades.
I love the "vitals" areas you have made.
Honestly, I am a little bit surprised that you didn't do the same thing on the targets, for the brain... considering that so many people go for head shots.
Just like the chest area, so many new hunters fail to understand how small of a target the coyote brain is.

Just wasn't enough space in the head area to get a robust enough flapper up there. Ken has told me that he likes trying to put rounds through the eye holes!

Thank You! this is exactly the information I was looking for.
Based of this I’m thinking this will give a good base for ranging with a mildot scope. Anyones thought would be appreciated.
Gonna use his 18 inches rule as a coyote measuring tool.
    5.00 mils = 18in. @ 100
    2.50 mils = 18in. @ 200
    1.25 mils = 18in. @ 300
    This sound about right?

You can get a tapeworm (E. multil) from touching the fur of a coyote (or fox). Wear those gloves! Thanks for the info.
