      They should all be put to work scrubbing the toilets and mowing the lawns in DC. At least then they would be contributing something of value.

      First we need to maintain habitability on our planet and then think about colonizing other planets. Lets not forget we were created to live here on Earth, anything else out there is way far from ideal for human live form.

    I remember the first images sent back from the rover we landed in 1996. The quality of these new images and the fact we can shoot video now is just incredible to me. The fact Mars looks like a dried up riverbed on Earth has me really hoping we detect the first signs of life there, and I live long enough to see humans walk on the surface.
    Mars is a dream.

    We now know that you can fly a drone in Mars's thin atmosphere. This will cover a large area faster.

      Very true. But not as fast as if the drone was on Earth due to high power consumption and a slow process of replenishing that power on Mars.

    Anyone else catch this? Freeze frame at 3:26, just as the camera is fully zoomed in....middle ish of the screen, but top of the frame, to the right...there are 4 holes in a perfect straight line.

    it’s hard to describe the feeling... no ones ever set foot on this planet. Ever, and now we are actually seeing what it really looks like, the things we might find there could be way over our comprehension and something about all that... is just mind blowing.

    Wonderful pics. Amazing how many miraculous rolls of the dice it took for life on Earth to occur and evolve to the point where we can send robot explorers to Mars. Yet if just one of those random steps along the way were different, Earth could've looked as barren and lifeless as Mars today.

    The idea that those pictures are taken from a place other than Earth is incredible. It's so mesmerizing. I'm really happy with our progress as humans, honestly.
    I look at those pictures then imagine what was Mars like millions of years ago..
    Were there people over there or organisms? How did they live their life? Can we discover any signs of life (or previous life) on this peaceful planet? Did they care about letting others know that martians did exist someday? Leaving any evidence no matter how unclear they could be?
    Mars will always fascinate me❤

    i love how even if its another planet it resembles earth so much its like confirmation that while there might be alien phenomena/life in the universe we dont know abt we are also all made of the same stuff essentially

      Well that's technically due to the Earth and Mars possibly being made out of the same rock, supposedly what hit Earth centuries ago, hit Mars as well. We are all technically made out of the same "stuff". Depending on how you arrange atoms you can be whatever you like.
