Hey guys, grandpa morel here from northernwildharvest.
Wanted to congratulate you for taking your boys out. They will have these memories for life.
Thank you sir!! Thanks you for watching and thanks for the comment! I’m gonna subscribe!!
Lovely day with your kids! I sure miss those days. They still come along but not often. Life got busy for them. We all love the hunt.😊❤
We always used onion or potato sacks when harvesting mushrooms, as carry the mushrooms you are spreading the mushroom spores all over the place and you keep getting more in the area you hunt them.
You manhandling that turtle had me dying 😂😂😂
I'm so jealous. Can't wait for morel season to start up here. 50 lb in a day is absolutely nuts! Congratulations man!
Where u from
@@roberthahn5945 Ontario, Canada- near London. I teach wild edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms tours in my area. Should be getting some early yellows in the next week or so here, but it's been colder than usual lately. Fingers crossed! Hope you have a great season!
Great Family Day
First I love that instead of playing video games you take the young men out and teach them the old ways fishing, finding mushrooms, and doing it as a family, parents could learn from this.
Thanks Dave!! Much appreciated!
Dang!! This guy might be the 🐐!! I'm in South Central Indiana and it's just getting started here. I've been hunting 20 plus years around here and I've had some good hauls but never anything like this guy finds, legendary!!
Hey Brian 👋 Thanks for watching and thanks for saying hi!! I hope is as good in Indiana this year as it has been in Oklahoma!
The main thing is to use a net bag that way spores fall to the ground as you walk might just make new places to harvest
I'm in MD near WV border and I've been hunting morels 40+ years and I have never seen a morel around a cedar. I am amazed at how they grow there in the open I've heard of them in orchards sometimes but they only grow in thick woods here around poplar, elm, ash, and very rarely a sycamore. Never saw morels grow in the open like that but it looks like a good time finding them there
Now that ending was funny, shroom hunter from Indiana.
Hey Julie 👋thanks for watching and thanks for the comment! Much appreciated! 🙏
I can't imagine finding even a quarter of what y'all found😲...congrats!!
And nice catch of Phierce trying to keep the chunks held back after eating that raw mushroom!!!!!😨😂😂😂😂😂👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
You even spelt his name right!! Thanks for the comment! Where are you watching from bud?
@@AdrenalineRushAdventures Asheville,N.C.
The spit out at the end killed me bahahaha! Great job boys that was amazing
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment! Much appreciated!
Very nice haul! It is worth knowing that raw morels are mildly toxic.
Then how to use them because I have found some from my backyard
Try using garden pruning shears, way quicker, and easier on your back. Works well on morels.
It's been along time since I have fou9nd a nice area like this to hunt in! Thank you for sharing your hunt.I always used plastic potetoe bags so the spours would spread as I walked through the woods for the next year,
I remember seeing the article about this when I wa aback home in Oklahoma I now live in Florida for about the past year love y’all’s channel and y’all make me miss home even more I’d love to noodle with y’all possibly when I come back!
Thanks Baylen! It’s a blast for sure!
Man wherever that camera is mounted it's making my head hurt bad, and I never get this feeling. Just something to consider, I heard the chest is better than the head mount for that reason. Great vid guys
I agree, can’t see the morel at all except when it’s picked. Need closer look at morel.
Dude the end got me crying 🤣😂
You and your little girls had quit the lucky day😎 good find
Lol that’s 2 of his 3 sons
I love morels! Your videos are excellent. All the stuff I did as a kid. Play in water. Being outside. I heard Oklahoma has some great morel spots. 😂
Thanks Billy Ray!
You guys are killing me! I'm in central MO without rain the last 3 weeks and haven't seen any yet!
I know! We haven’t had rain in three weeks either! Super dry but I guess these are from that good rain we had 3 weeks ago! Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!
Get out and look they are up
I’m in blue springs not a bunch over heat yet should be hourly this weekend if we get that rain on Thursday!!!! We got all season!
From Cuba mo. April 21 no morels yet 😢
Northern MO right south of the IA border and we're just now starting to find them!! Late year but they are pop'n!!!
Great day! The counting of every mushroom drove me so crazy that I had to hit mute.
I never realized they were in the Cedars
Great find congratulations !!!
This blows my mind!!! Always used to hear stories of people going to Michigan and bringing back 1000’s but wow! And just traveling through cedars?? Very Jealous!! In Ohio I gotta walk miles for 1 bag! Looking for the next dead elm
Great Day
I love to go mushroom hunting we went today and found 18 the most we’ve found is 42
Awesome! Where are you guys from? Thanks for the comment!
OOOWEEE! I haven't seen a single one here in the Bay Area CA yet, nor has anyone else according to the morel heat map. Headed to Point Reyes for my weekly visit tomorrow, checking out a new area and doing some foraging. Mush love ya'll
You need to leave some to spore and use netted sacks to allow spores to drop. My dad is an expert in morels. The population will die out when you take them all. Using a netted bag will also allow remaining spores to drop when moving around and help spread the population for later. If you forage, do it responsibly. Otherwise those sweet spots won't come back.
Thanks for the tip!
Obviously your dad is not an expert nor are you that is definitely not how this works
Never have seen the trail of mushrooms going out of the woods
@@dustintrimble6893 spores are continuously released once picked. It's like when you die and the body unclenches to release bodily fluids. Spores are tiny and catch into the wind to drop and can carry decent distances. My father is in his 70s and has a lot of actual knowledge and is a conservationist. All professional hunters use netted bags for this exact purpose. If you cut a mushroom and set it on a paper towel undisturbed, you can come back to see all the spores it has released. Certain mushrooms give off specific colored spores to help identify if it has hallucinogenic properties, is lethal, or edible. This is an especially helpful tool to educate yourself on since many fungi look similar but one can be edible and the other poisonous.
@@dustintrimble6893 that is definitely how it works bud. I use a basket, same idea as a net. holes to let the spores out. They'll come back because the mycelium lives on but mushrooms experience senescence (as the cells keep splitting the dna degrades) so if you keep taking all of the fruiting mushroom bodies you will have less new dna in the new generation and eventually they will all die out.
BEAUTIFUL NITE but not my kind of shrooms but id b down 2 try some morels u should sell em ,,,, GOD BLESS US !!!
Thanks Kathi!
Roughly about $1500-$1600 haul. Nice job guys!
Looks like it was an awesome adventure! Cheers from California!
Hey Jessi 👋 thanks for watching and thanks for saying hi!
Congrats! What a haul!
Thank you!! 😁
I'm extremely jealous! I've been hunting all season and not ran into one yet, I'm on a weekend long hunt this week so will keep my eyes peeled. Just a little tip, a net bag will help spread spores 😁
When ur finding that many the few spores you may or may not spread isn’t gna help , it’ll tear up all ur shrooms worse than anything
I like River King👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
River's comment reply..going grape?..I'm going to pen that great kids
Hey Howard! Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment! Much appreciated!
Start usn dif bags ya carryn all spores out i like tennis ball bags ya can spread spores as hunt ive seen good spots fizz out over yrs of ppl usn grocery bags
Wow 😮😮
Wow!!! Just wow man that’s crazy lot!!! I would be so excited to find this many , or even a 1/4 of that . Unbelievable!!!
Hey Bryan! Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment! Hopefully you get into a big mess!
WOW....
OH MAN BLEW SHOOMS 😅🎉
That was outstanding! Hopefully you had some floatation devices that I didn’t see.👍🇺🇸
Yes. But this river doesn’t get over waist deep and 90% of it is ankle to knee deep. Can’t take a real boat down it. Too shallow. That’s the reason we had the old canoe out instead of our bigger boat with the motor. It is always a great feeling though to slow down, step back in time and enjoy the slow meander of the river. That canoe has been on many adventures! We have seen some stuff!
@@AdrenalineRushAdventures I bet it has and that was a great one. I haven’t found that many in my life 👍🇺🇸
Good Stuff
Great family fun.
Thank you for watching and thanks for the comment! Have they started coming up in Missouri yet?
@@AdrenalineRushAdventures the 13th I found 11 dry morels. Went to a moister spot 14th and found 13lbs. Yeah!
Raining today. That's a good thing.
excellent find!
Never had them , what do they taste like?
Steak.
If you continue to hunt that place year after year use mesh bags like big onion sacks , so you spread the seed for next year and for God sake don't use Walmart bags . Nice haul boys ! In Missouri they are getting 55 bucks for a pound . Awesome UA-cam video!
Thanks! Will do! I hear Missouri is on fire right now too!
@@AdrenalineRushAdventures northern MO right south of the IA border... Finally starting to find them!!
@@DirtNassty nice!! Good to hear! I go deer hunting up there every fall in Leonard Missouri. Near Shelbyville. I think the closest big town is Macon or Kirksville.
@@AdrenalineRushAdventures yep! Thats just a little east of me bro... I'm in the sticks between Princeton and Lineville. I have family in Kirksville. 🤙
Where yall hunting at 😂
We’re at a river in Oklahoma!
That was funny. On the raw mushroom 😅
I almost didn’t leave it in there. Didn’t know how it would be perceived
Do you would be pretty cool if you guys did like a different motel recipe or something of eating at the end of the video
Great Video and Family adventure! Haven't found any yet, but only been out for a couple hours the past couple days. I don't get around as good as I used too, my age any health issue limits me. But going to keep trying this weekend here in Southern Ohio!
Good luck! I hope you find a sack full this weekend! Should be any day now!
@@AdrenalineRushAdventures Thanks! I need all the luck I can get! Ha Ha!
Never would u find like that in va its tough picking congrats
Thanks! Hopefully you can get a decent mess anyways! Thanks for the comment!
How close to the water do you normally find them? Does it have to be near a water source? On a hillside out flat ground? Soo many questions 😂
Sometimes right up to the rivers edge. But I do like looking on hillsides but they grow on flat ground as well
@@AdrenalineRushAdventures thank you for your reply!!
Thats freaking awesome! What's the ground temp when you found all of these?
Can you please help us your viewers by describing the area you're finding these in? Like what are the ground and air temperatures, how much rain have you had, what type of trees are nearby, anything you can think of would be appreciated
Yep. I’ll work on it.
Yes, we do mention some of these things in the videos. Elm trees seems to be a morel hunters favorite. For me, in Oklahoma I also love Cottonwood and Ash and then Cedar. But our cedars pop later and need a bit more moisture and not sure how many cedars y’all have up in Michigan. Sycamore, Birch, and Willow are okay too. My least favorite is oak.
@@AdrenalineRushAdventures So many Morels... it looks like you would only eat mushrooms.😅
I wouldn’t give up on that spot sometimes spots just won’t produce and then boom they are a hit. Would hate for you to miss all those other ones
❤❤❤❤❤
😂😂 my buddy did the same thing last year on the root River in MN and got caught trespassing had 30lb taken away pluse a fine 😅😅😅😅
yikes, definitely gotta make sure you know if your are on public land or have permission.
Don’t eat raw morels it can make you really sick especially all the bugs and stuff you can’t see.
Then how to eat kindly tell because today i have found some from my backyard
We find them in the sand here on the river!
Are you guys hunting on public land or are you floating down the creek trespassing on other people's property?
Not trespassing
You guys are living life Also. I didn't think they grew under cedar trees like that
Think again Robert
Oh hell ya we find them all the time under cedars , pines and other conifers
We hunt from the end of April till the end of may in Ontario ...
Use onion sacks so pores can spread
I was taught to use mesh bags to spread the spores.
That’s a good idea! We sometimes do!
Jeezus Crizethats why I didnt even find a stem. mudthr vunkr . The past 3yrs no luck. Well no last yr I bought almost a lb for $60 bucks plus $15 for overnight.🤔😏😁
I’ve been out hunting no luck cause people that find them want just take enough for a good mess and leave some for someone else wanting some.they got to be greedy and pick ever single mushroom.I found a patch last year and got enough to fix a mess and left some for other people. I really don’t see why they have to take all the mushrooms and hell with everyone else. Can’t stand greed
It's hunting. There's no bag limit on Morels. When some duck hunters come back to launch after getting stumped, they aren't mad that other hunters limited out. They probably did more preparation and scouting. You have to find your own honey holes
Yes Judy! We had to work hard for those and we sold all of them. Videoing our outdoors and profiting from our adventures is how I make a living. Let’s me spend a lot of time with my family.
Greed?... Sounds like you're mad you can't find any mushrooms.... I sure the hell don't leave mushrooms for the next guy, if my ass is out in the woods finding shrooms I take every one I find, if I find too many to eat myself between me and my boys then I give them to friends and family that don't enjoy stomping thru the woods like I do.
why dont you use the mesh bags ? spread them spores
Doesn’t actually help and destroys your mushrooms
Great video, but nobody wants to hear the none stop counting the entire time. Just do it at the end……🤦🏼♂️🤣
This channel is dedicated on family!!
Yep!! Thank you for watching!! Much appreciated!! Lucky to have kids who enjoy the outdoors as much as me!
Do you sell your mushrooms and where?
Need to teach me only ever found 18
Know of any good spots around Bethel Acres you can kinda point me in? Maybe around the lakes?
Not really. I’ve found them around thunderbird and Draper but not as good as in this video
Gotcha. Found a handful along the barditch while i was locating some phone lines and haven't been able to find any since. I'm always around the woods so I'll keep on looking!
Its fun to see how you take all this mushrooms and dry them and ... so ... on and on. But after a while its a little boring, its allways the same. Where do you bring them, who buys them in the end? And why allways the same mushrooms? Hmm. To look one film is very interesting. But that's enough for me. 👋
We have came a long way. This was over a year old. Check out some of our newer vids. Much better quality
I thought shrooms would send you on a trip? What in the Wild World Of Sports do y'all do with these mushrooms? My father made me eat liver one time. I hated the smell of liver. He told me I had to eat it. I said no it is making me sick. He punched me in the face and said eat it. I did. Than I threw it up everywhere. Needless to say he never made me to eat anything again. 😂😂
I made my oldest son eat chilled shrimp and Okra! lol. Without the punching but same result. He threw it up. We eat a lot of these but sell even more.
@@AdrenalineRushAdventures 😂😂. One thing about your channel. Just when I think I have it it all. You show me something else. I had never seen a Gar fish before.
I bet there were some sore backs, butt’s and back of legs!
THAT WAS FUNNY WATCHING HER EAT THE MKREL😂😂😂
Yeah. But he’s a boy
WOW! Which kind of forest associated ?
Cottonwood, Cedar and Elm

I'm all for Morel hunting, but this is just over kill. When you're finding that many, you can't even leave the little ones to grow..?

Haha. Sorry, we will do better next time
What's the elevation of this forest?
Very low. Bottomlands in Oklahoma.
How much reservation land did you take from.
Zero.
I have hair like river
Cool!
Raw mushroom? How'd that turn out the next day?
Fine
Wtf you mean?
@@DirtNassty the end of the video the loser of our guess had to eat a raw morel. He had a bit of an accident. Couldn’t keep it down. But I have ate several in the past with no ill effects. Not horrible either.
Please pick up the garbage as you pick mushrooms.
Do you know the land owner
Public land.
You shouldn't curse at the kids unless they can do it back
I was hoping someone would say something. Thought about editing it out but didn’t want to be fake. I was just kidding with them though. I try not to
Incredible haul, but you called it in the beginning.. it’s get boring watching someone do the same thing over and over again. Maybe offer some wisdom on how to find them, what to look for etc.
Yes. Indeed
Eating a raw morel can make one very sick, always cook any mushroom
Never hurt us..ate lots of them
