Buddy Landel was a friend of mine. We lived near each other and many times we rode together to the matches. Buddy helped me with wrestling and shared with me his mistakes. Landel was a world-class wrestler with great promos, but he had one problem. He was afraid to succeed and to make the commitments of a World Champ. Buddy was extremely talented and was destined to be a World Champ. RIP Buddy!!!

I spent a few weekends with Buddy when I was a high school kid setting up rings and driving guys when they had weekends. Buddy wanted to live right but he just couldn’t get certain things out of his way. I’ve prayed with Buddy and I also held his briefcase while he went to the “hood” and bought coke. That was in 1997. He was the funniest person I’ve ever met and I’m glad I got to talk to him via email before he died. When he did Art of Wrestling Podcast he gave out his email because he didn’t have social media. He was nice even though he couldn’t pick me out of a line up. Just a nice guy and super hysterical. “Y’all don’t have to worry about getting athletes foot, I just pissed in all of the showers boys. You’re welcome” 😂😂 first thing I ever heard him say.

    Nice interview.
Buddy Landel reminds me of my uncle's from the 80s and their white party homies who enjoyed themselves in a snowy environment back in the day so to speak. I remember being a kid thinking that they were talking about an actual candy 🍭 when they would be having adult conversation about nose candy amongst their friends lol. RIP to them all now but they definitely were just like buddy. Even the hair and old school dress style he has and lack of a f*CK to give about his legacy and reputation. He was who he was type of attitude is missing today in men. He brings a sense of 80s nostalgia for me.
. MOST men from that era are actually deceased now, but wow they were cool dudes. He has that rockstar quality to him truthfully I miss my uncles and their friends. These guys were living legends, they used to travel with some of the wrestling stars and get them connected to beautiful women who enjoyed wrestling more than the Stan fans themselves. My uncle's were attractive and 💪 buff enough to have female friends who also had more friends and would have front row seats for many of the territories. He's right back in those days there was no shortage of women who enjoyed wrestlers company legitimately. That's why some guys didn't like to refer to them as Ring rats despite the sexual liaison elements that those women used to consent to and many times initiate themselves. Some of these women genuinely enjoyed wrestling.

True story. 1986. Buddy was wrestling at a local high school. He came out and got in my face and called me a few names before the match. I was a teenage kid thinking it was real and really pissed me off. When all was over I and my friend walked out of the gym and he was talking to someone. I told him he was a pampas ass and a washed up ric flair wanna be.
He chased my friend and I across the parking lot. We jumped into my friends mom shaggin wagon van and shut the door. The asshole put 12 dents in the van trying to get in to us.
The law was called, he was arrested and made to pay for all damage done to the van.
Fast forward 3 years and I was working out at golds in Greensboro NC and in walks Buddy with Flair. I looked over at him and he recognized me. Here he comes and he was all coked. He said " Ain't you the guy that got me arrest at that high school. I said " I got you arrested?" That's funny. He told me to watch myself. I reported him and he was shown the door. Yall can call him a great wrestler but as a person he was a pure dick. No RIP you'll hear from me.

@@Felix-rv5qm like I would waste my time to type all that? It is 100% truth. I'm a grown man. Look everybody knows he was a dick, mostly cause of his drug use but his arrogance, even in this video he was still a dick.
Believe it or not believe it, it does not change what I saw and experienced.
