  • Venus, our planetary neighbor, is a hot, hellish unforgiving world and NASA has selected two bold new missions to study this inferno-like planet: DAVINCI+ and VERITAS. Are Venus and Earth fundamentally unique worlds? Or are the differences between these ‘twins’ only cosmetic? Answering this question is key to understanding what makes other rocky planets habitable and, ultimately, emerge with life.

That’s if they don’t burn up in the atmosphere this time

they don't "burn up," they melt and implode

@@MrTaxiRob I'm pretty sure burning is somewhat accurate. Temps get high enough to burn metals (esp. aluminum) easily.

Great news! For some reason, NASA has never paid that much attention to Venus. Even in the Cold War era, it was mostly the Soviets who kept sending spacecraft there. Glad to see this is changing.

I NASA works with other countries for space travel. Humans need to start seeing each other as one species one planet which I hate considering humans love boundaries and tribalism.

I am so excited for jpl's AREE project, which is an attempt to build a rover without any electronics, since they always melt on venus. They plan to communicate using a pattern on the rover to display morse code. If they succeed, Automata/Steampunk technology would actually be useful. We are truly living in a Sci-Fi world!
