I bought my first Buck 110 in '72. I wore out the sheath and hand made a new one. I still have it, and although it shows signs of use, it's still just as strong and tight as ever. I have several other Bucks and currently waiting for delivery on a custom 119. Nothing like Made in America.
That’s actually the same way the ka-bar got its name. The company was originally called union cutlery and the kabar was just called the usmc combat knife but union cutlery received a letter from a customer saying they used their knife to kill a bear so they changed the name to ka-bar for kill a bear
one of the things I like about these are the classic look (same reason I like Opinels, though I know these Bucks are a LOT more rugged)...they just have that "Look what I found in Grandpa'a old tackle box!" vibe to them.
I loved this story as a kid when I got my first buck 110 I was around 10 or 11, and i thought i couldn't die just because i had it, it was legendary haha
I own a number of Bucks. The folding Ranger 112 and the Little Woodsman ( 102? ) sheath knife are favorites with interesting adventures associated with them. Best Wishes from Montana! M.H
The 112 came to fruition because of the navy’s rules making the blade of the 110 out of regulation. So sailors who purchased a 110 would often have machinist mates shorten the blade so eventually buck just made the 112 with a blade length in regulations
Its even used as a generic "knife" in games. The Yakuza games occasionally have enemies wielding a smaller version of this knife when they dont have them using the regular knife that can be used by the player
I have two Buck 110's from 1990, one has a bit of wear the other is pristine, they are heavy and solid, so many survivalists/campers/woodsmen etc want featherlight folders weighing less than a mosquito fart and happily pay $ several hundreds of dollars, I want a knife than is not too light to lose, the Buck 110 says " I'm still here in your pocket buddy"
Love your work mate, would be awesome to hear a bit about the blade steels used ect. "The Story of knifesteels" would be a good resource for the channel if you haven't read it already.
Hi Jesse turner I am disabled in a wheelchair and I don't have much money to get any Knives for my UA-cam channel click on the picture beside of this comment wondering if you have any knifes with you don't liked want to keep wondering what you thought about sending a vet

You should do a separate video about the guy that killed a grizzly bear with his 110.
Apologies, What?!
Do you have a source for this? I scoured the internet looking for evidence of anyone ever doing this and found nothing. Please substantiate.
Arthur Morgan core 😊
That was me.

We definitely need a Lynn Thompson/Cold steel video and an Al-Mar video.
The buck 112 origin story is legendary

Are there any folding bucks with a 4 inch blade?
For me, Buck and Ka-Bar are the only knives worth having
