You gave me a idea to make a three point mount with a cable winch orbital hyd motor. Carry the short unit on 3 point with skids under it. Back up to your logs set 3 point down cable winch up log and away you go

A linn tractor like you say would need a diff lock. It’s like a two or four wheel drive tractor with no diff lock or highway tractor without 4 wheel lock up . Always stuck in mud snow or ice when trying to pull a heavy load
yes but once you have a diff lock then you can't steer it and if the snow is too deep you have to plow. the list is long and that is why they were never used after the job was completed they were purchased for. thansk
didnt they move sherritt gorden mines to lynn lake a quite distance, i spent some time up in lynn from 1962 to 1965 at the el mine in lynn lake. i believe lynn lake is named after these beasts were used to move from sherriden.where are you located in lynnlake..
the EL Mine was the place to be with the high grade nickel. the ore train is the reason why these Linns came with no motors because they were used to keep the ore train running. lynn lake was named after a person not the Linn Tractors. the Kingdom is down at the track beside the bulk fuel places. thansk

I remember reading that they could I believe they called it grasshoppering a small ship across a narrow slip of land with poles, ropes and their capstans. They used the sam type of setup to lift heavy wood beams.

there are little valve in the head to lower the compression ratio for running on gas. they are closed when on diesel thansk
