Cool. MORE cameras and surveillance, also making the shopper do the job of a cashier while eliminating them all together while raising prices to maximize profits. You bet shoprite + is in the works

The shoprite in the next town over from me remodeled in the 90s and called themselves “the experience” and it was pretty futuristic for the time. So maybe ShopRite just likes to be on the forefront of things. It led my cousin to wonder aloud if OUR ShopRite should be called “the nightmare” however

They are rolling them out here in Hoboken imminently. I saw them lined up at the market today about to be launched.

I tried it out at ShopRite last week and it was going good until at checkout, it recorded that I had 3 lemons in the cart but I didn't put any lemon in the cart at all, and there was no way for me nor the cashier to delete them from the cart which took some time in trying, so I was sent to customer service to resolve the issue and of course, there was a line of customers, the assistant eventually deleted the lemons. It was a pain, would be faster if I had went to self checkout or cashier. Never again.

Used these carts several times and will not use them again! Limited amount of merchandise you can buy and the sensors pick up stuff thats on the shelf and not even in your cart! Gave it 3 times hoping it would get better, but each time it required at least 2 staff people to straighten it out, which kind of defeats the purpose. Just another example of cheap crap made overseas to maximize profits!

They dropped these at the Shoprite in Hoboken, and my mom and I decided to try it out last night. The Caper carts are actual ass cheeks. The cart is smaller than the average cart, which makes it bad if you have a longer list of items to buy, the scanners repeatedly scan the same item multiple times while it's sitting in the cart, and the tablet constantly fucks with your list if you try to remove the extra scans from the list. The amount of pain that one box of strawberry banana mochi caused with this shitty ass cart is ridiculous, and it would often delete all of the mochi scans when we only wanted to remove the extras (while it was still sitting in the cart), only to scan it multiple times again.
It got so bad that we had to check out the regular way, and the cashier told us about all of the issues the Caper carts have. She explained that bottled water/other drinks fuck with the scale of the cart, and cause the whole thing to go insane. She's had other customers express frustration to her as well, and she said that the store's higher-ups reprimanded her for "speaking badly" about the Caper carts. It goes to show that Shoprite would rather kiss Caper's ass than listen to/care about their customers or employees. I wouldn't be surprised if they attempt to fire their cashiers in favor of Caper carts either...
TLDR: Normal carts and cashiers FTW. These things fucking suck, and AI deserves to be buried into the ground. Nothing good ever comes out of AI.

I shop here alot and it's a nice store to shop in. I used to work for this company and 4 of my former co workers work in this particular location. I will try these carts out the next time i shop here.

9:10 to 10:40, I think the theft loss, payment security are highly concern, that's why they make you to checkout at the register.

I work at Shop Rite, Bronx, NY, and this is the first I've heard of it! You're the first to tell us, Germ! Do you think it'll catch on? I'm sure the owners hope so

Having shopped this way, seeing the price of the two apples, do you think this will increase sales for the stores? If I saw, so starkly, that 2 apples cost $2.00, I might refrain and put them back

lol. Really? No they aren’t paying me. I thought it was cool. I’m also able to watch what I spend as I put it in the cart. So no surprises. Not sure why anyone would have an issue with the cart.
