That Barca game he's talking about, Ronaldinho was fuckin immense that night, he was subbed off near the end and was applauded off by the entire stadium, still the best player I've seen at CP in the flesh
Same mate. Was in the Celtic end and he did a mad trick and I looked at my mate and said that I had to watch the highlights that night as I just didn’t know what he did, it was that fast. What a night
My mate alan tomo... look after me when he played 4 Newcastle... a remember his car crash he was lucky... great guy.. am from the westend and he is from the eastend of Newcastle... its only a ten min drive away.. can't wait to watch it... thanks james...
Alan Thompson and that Celtic squad were the biggest crush I had as teenager. They gave me so many happy memories and really grew the club. I remember going to school and seeing so many Celtic shirts. It was amazing 👏 😍
@@ropaul8006 i remember the nite naka score that freekick against utd the whole pub got trash by the utd men there was mayhem chair got stuck in the ceiling lights over the snooker table got ripe off

Some great memories relived through Thommo he was a fantastic player for us scored a few screamers too the stand_ out goal for me was the 1 at Ibrox when he hit a 20+yarder & the ball hit the underside of the bar that Seville team was something else as James said they were all born winners
Thommo always gave Celtic 💯, the sweetest left foot you will ever see too. Ppl forget Alan got himself into the England team when he was with us which was impressive
Great interview James, I’m a Celtic supporter and was so good to see thommo looking well, great footballer and comes across as one of life’s genuine guys. Can’t wait to see who’s coming next………Lenny? It would truly be amazing if you could pull that off 💚💚
Thompson was my favourite player. I loved Larrson but Thompson's battles in the middle of the park and his goals against the huns were memorable. The stories about Ricksen and the pitbull turning up to his door and the fireworks through the letterbox were fab. Thommo Legend.
He wasn’t underrated at Celtic! Everyone knew how good he was for us and he got the credit for it.Turned it on to another level when we had an old firm
Phil Mason who was seriously injured in the car crash is my wife's cousin, sadly his injuries effectively ended his career at the top level, very sad, lovely feller
If the poor guy didnt play in same team as henrik, Lubo and sutton we probably would raved about him more same with paul Lambert but these fellas popped up with most the goals and took the limelight..legend🍀
brilliant james. love thommo a great player for us always gave 100% like most of his team mates, the best celtic team i have seen. a side note, i like the newcastle and if there is a fanbase that deserves a bit of glory it's them, and it is coming make no mistake about that, c'mon the hoops.
"When I see you Celtic, I go out of my head, I just can't get enough, I just can't get enough. All the things you do to me and all the things you say, I just can't get enough, I just can't get enough. We slip and slide and we fall in love And I just can't seem to get enough."
This one was way better than attwoods. More laughs, Alan seemed upbeat and comfortable talking to James. Didnt hurt that JE knew so much about football.
Just keeps geting better james new level Last podcast was one the best iv ever watched 100% great story brillant movie 🎬 banning content channels goin places 👌 fair ply hard work pays off
I was the same playing gaa football at a good level in Ireland I always got sick before a game with nerves, always played well and think the lads always knew I meant business when they seen me puking my ring up, could eat nothing and still be getting sick before a game
James, try get Graeme Armstrong on the author of the Young Team , Great story about turning your life around coming from the west coast of Scotland & a great read if you haven't read it already m8.
Not fair or accurate for him to say he never got england recognition because he was playing in scotland, I'm villa and he was playing for us in his prime years and whilst he was good on his day, 'his day' very rarely came around and he was never more than a bit part player for us in a team that didn't have too many world beaters.
Mad Alan on plugging the book again, seen him do the same on another podcast, always "bit about it in the book" 😂😂 mind a used to see him down Ashton Lane with Lenny quite a lot burst 😂😂👍 decent watch though))
Newcastle should have kept tommo here....edit good interview but skipped right past his time actually playing for his home town club and his dream. No mention whatsoever of him actually playing Newcastle?
Great player for Celtic though I found the conversation very unprofessional. Like two scallys in a pub swearing etc. Not how you get to be taken seriously as a journalist I don’t think. Or am I missing something? Some good stuff among the stories ie Balde sorting folk out in the tunnel. Just saying!
Alan Thompson was a fantastic footballer. A key member of one of the best Celtic teams of all time. The 2003/ 04 team was different class.
Your not wrong my mate, lovely fella too ⚽🙏
100%
A very important player in the 2nd best Celtic team assembled,in my opinion.👍🍀🙏
I remember being brought over to Glasgow to watch the bhoys play, was about 20 years ago now! I'll never forget it, absolutely unbelievable
@@jdimaggio6005 I think your opinion is bang on,what a fvvking Celtic team that was, could go toe to toe with the elite at Parkhead..great times 👍😁⚽
What an era, what a team! We’ll never see the like again, best Celtic side I’ll ever see in my lifetime.
Ahhh the memories 🍀
Loved Thommo, scored some of the best goals I've seen for the Hoops. Cracking left foot 🍀

Met him at the POTY awards, had to hunt him down for an autograph for my Mrs lol!!
2001-2005/6 was the greatest for Scottish fitba in the modern era, not just Celtic and Rangers. Hibs, Hearts, Dundee all had great teams too.
Finally. The one no ones been waiting for.
Wouldn’t wanna listen to someone talk about the goals they’ve scored against my club either LOL
Nothing better than old celtic stories
Thommo, hunskelper extrordinare 🍀🍀🍀
@@caolansmyth2307 GIMP. What kinda grown man uses lol 😂🤣
I was waiting. They did Scottish football proud in the 00s. Two European finals by Celtic and Rangers. Aberdeen doing well too. Not a bad decade
Great interview, great player. Time to get the Holy goalie in the seat for a chat.
That would be absolutely fantastic considering Artur is still playing....
