The chop I prepared recently seems to smell bad after a few hours if she hasn't eaten it all. Should I keep them too or replace it? Another question, I currently don't have a dry mix, gonna make that once I collect the ingredients, what do I give my bird in the evening until then? Plus thanks for the informative video!
This was an awesome video but I do have a question. I was one of the folks who worried about food spoiling when I am at work. I have been doing the ultimate blend from parrotsrus during the day and bird bistro chop with added fruits and veggies at night. I feel like I am doing it all wrong. What are your thoughts on the blends from parrotsrus and bird bistro chop?
Glad you enjoyed it! We definitely prefer fresh in the morning as birds are more likely to eat it! I haven't tried either of those so I can't really offer an opinion, but if everything you offer is raw and your house isn't really hot, the food won't spoil during the day :)
How do I get my bird to have a healthy microbiome in the gut? Our rescue is still struggling with too many of the wrong bacteria in his poop, even after 3 antibiotics sessions spread over the past 2 months. How can I help him with this specifically?
Has he had a faecal test and bloods? Antibiotics can even make gut imbalances worse as they can harm the good bacteria too! Fibre rich foods are great for the gut like leafy greens, fruit in moderation, whole grains etc! You can also explore probiotics like Avipro or Potent Brew!
Hi Birdnerdsophie , Pls tell can we ( human) get a disease from Cockatiel bird or any exotic Parrot family birds like love bird, budgies, Conure , cockatoo etc. As I am little afraid in my known one person suffered some disease due to pigeon dropping so is it same with Parrot exotic family birds too ? Hi Guys-- First, thank you for all that you do!! I only have 1 Green Cheek Conure now. My elderly Parakeet passed recently. I want to start feeding raw foods more aggressively in the am. Can frozen veggies be fed? Do they still have the nutritional value? Since I only have the one bird, I need a better way to store food and not have to buy numerous amounts of veggies to meet the nutrition that Spidey needs. Please advise.....
Frozen can be fed but fresh is definitely better! We try and plan our meals and get more fresh stuff into our diets as well through planning the chop to try and make us a little healthier too 😊
I also have only one conure - at the moment 😅. There is definitely going to be left over veggies from chop prep. BUT what I find helpful making enough chop for a week (it keeps for about a week especially if drying veggies properly and using an airtight container) and I make a stir fry for myself with whatever I have left over. Works a treat coz you can basically throw anything in there.
If you're going to feed frozen, it spoils faster after being defrosted. It is also wetter and they might not like it as much as fresh. Frozen veg is still better than none though!
My cocktiel hatch a chick on 9 sep and today the chick is 13 dayz old and i saw my birds started mating again will the parents stop giving feed to the chick and on the other hand i have to clean the box for the next clutch bcz now the box is dirty if i will put the chick in the cage and then take out the box to clean for a while and put it with new nesting material with do they will start feeding their chick again or what should i have to do pls give me a solution
Unfortunately I have no experience with breeding or with raising chicks, but I would recommend making changes to diet and enclosure set up to stop them breeding!
This was very helpful and insightful!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks you- Always keeping us educated and informed- you two rock!

Nice and informative video 😊
Thanks a lot 😊
My avian vet said she can tell if your bird is getting fruit and veg. The poop comes out with plant based matter under the microscope.
Awesome!

What did you put in your chop?
And for the evening meal, what are you feeding currently?

Thanks for the informative video, might I suggest reducing the volume of the intro tone, it's a bit too high.
Thank for your letting me know - a mistake on my part in the editing process so I have removed now and it’s processing!

@@BirdNerdSophie yes 2 feacal tests but no blood tests. Once we're done with the antibiotics we'll do all that you just suggested.

The risk is low but yes there are diseases that can be passed from birds to people - look up zoonotic disease!
