Hi Hannah, first off, we ALL go through losing our knitting mojo. I think we just burn out from knitting so much. Your dye lot issue is so disappointing, that wouldn’t help. You have the right idea of doing the bands in the new shade. The rib would change the look so it may not be as obvious and that is a great option and it wouldn’t be as obvious as adding to straight stockinette. The other thing is if need be, add it to the back bottom only and you don’t see it when looking down or in the mirror. And maybe the yarn bleeding may happen and help. I haven’t used that yarn before. This depends on how your original color holds out. On the shawl, my first thoughts on your last episode was you are not a large person and Stephen West’s shawls are massive in size so for your first shawl, if you feel like making the smaller size, you go for it or judge as you go along. I remember you wanting it for over a coat so you may want larger. Your horse will be gorgeous and the mane will definitely take the place of the unicorn thingy on the head. The hats will be adorable for your son and nephew. They would be quick projects to perk you up knowing how happy they will be to have them made by you. The DK socks will definitely be fun to see how the yarn works up and yes, I too find DK socks so comfy and cozy. If designing feels more fun at the moment, do some more of that. It will all help bring your knitting mojo back. Love your videos and your shawl is off to a great start.
Hi! For your sweater, you could alternate the two shades gradually with more rounds of the old one and just one of the new one, then progressively do one less round of the old and one more of the new one for each "stripe". That could also bring your mojo back with 'just one more stripe' ☺
The horse stuffy is SUCH a thoughtful gift and the colors you choose are perfectly horse-y. Excited for you that you got your vertices unite started!! The dye lot issue can be so discouraging and feel like such a road block! Cheering you on with however you decide to move forward with that project. Take care friend~Stephanie
Hi!! I would love to see a round up of your favorite toddler patterns! I want to knit for my daughter but feel like it’s hard to find modern looking patterns. Love your content!
As always I loved seeing everything you've been working on! I've missed testing your patterns, I look forward to what might be in store this year, especially since I'll have 2 to knit for now! My little guy wears his passport pullover and his rainy day sweater so much 🥰
Knitting ruts are such a bummer!! I experience that feeling when my WIP is either not entertaining me or I know it’s going down a bad path (remember my Cumulus Tee from last spring?!) or when I just can’t figure out what I want to do next. I typically force myself to put the needles down for a few days or I start swatching every ding dang yarn I own 😂
Hi Hannah. I’m so sorry about your dye lot issue. Different dye lots really do look worse on camera than IRL. Cameras just don’t adjust like our eyes can IRL. So you are seeing the color worse than it really is when you view it on video. I suggest ripping back as much as possible and helical knit with 2 of the darker color and one of the new lighter color. So, the lighter color is distributed throughout better. I did myself when I had this issue. I also just added the different dye lot to just the rib. And the rib texture disguised the difference. My sweater worked out great and I really can’t tell.
Re dye lot issue - suggest you try any methods you are considering to deal with different dye lot issues on the Body first before knitting the sleeves. The body dye lot concern will still be there if you knit the sleeves first so address this Body issue first. Not sure when you bought the yarn but trying to get the same dye lot somewhere as one knitter suggested is a good idea. And try weighing what you have knit already to try to estimate how much yarn you need to complete this project. Good luck!
Oh Hannah I'm so sorry about your dyelot Desaster! The sweater is so beautiful and the color will suit you well, one can tell that already😊 maybe you could share your dyelot-Number? Maybe someone has that yarn in stash and is ready to give you some? I also think it is a good idea to use the lighter yarn for the cuffs and hem. Marlene from Marlene knits did this with her stickseason sweater. Anyway wishing you well and I hope you get your mojo back soon😊 I'm knitting the stripe hype sweater right now and I can really recommend that. You always want to ad just one stripe more, its so much fun.
Idk maybe I am extremely paranoid but I would never knit from multiple dye lots unless it was hand dyed yarn I was planning to helical knit with. I also buy enough to make sure I am not playing yarn chicken. My anxious mind could not handle mismatched dye lots 😅

Thank you Stephanie- I was so excited how the horse colors turned out! 🐴

Oh yes I will definitely do that!

Thank you! I definitely noticed more when I held it up to the camera. Thank you for the suggestion if helical knitting!

Thank you! These are very helpful. I’m definitely going to look for the same dye lot!

Thank you- that’s such a wonderful idea. I hadn’t thought to share the dye lot number. I’ll have to watch Marlene’s video and see how hers turned out!

Definitely the smartest thing to do- it’s not ideal to run into this problem 😅
Oh that’s tough! Maybe you could fade the paler shade in like NEknits explains in her latest video x
Thank you! I’ll have to watch her video!
I wonder if you could finish it and then over dye the whole sweater 🤷♀️
That’s a good idea! I do like the color, but that might be my best option!
Do you have an address where we can send you stuff? Xx
