Really impressed by the announcers. A great combo of the old veteran who knows his stuff and breaks things down in layman's terms...and the younger, successful wrestler who can talk nuance and the high level technique going on. Looks like the athletes are responding well to Taylor, Kennedy, Gillman, etc.
Agree completely. Much better than what the Big 10 network runs on their broadcasts. Enough commentary but not too much.. Anyone can learn some wrestling listening to these guys!
Hamiti can win 174#. He looks excellent. I bet Coach Taylor is sparing with him. I remember my assist coach sparing with me when I moved up a weight class to go against a returning semi-state champ. I was a nobody. My coach specifically did the moves the guy was very good at. I won the match of my life. I ended up 33-3 and 7th in the state. My only losses that year were 2nd, 4th, and 5th place finishers. COME ON HAMITI !!!
Absolutely no one is surprised that OSU is good. They’re good EVERY year. It’s just more widely discussed because of the change in head coaching and staff. DT is about as high profile as it gets in wrestling.
Fish showed heart. To fight hard to erase the major. Hipolito is tough and unpredictable. OSU came to wrestle, and get bonus points. That will pay off. Hamiti. that was pure domination. Levi and O'toole need to be concerned. Henderson wow. that does not look like a hwy. The way he moves on top.
Hipolito using his judo background. Not his jiu Jitsu one. But Fish has to be smarter about getting out of the positions but that’s how he is. Ya knew that’d be an exciting match. Hipolito is so strong
@@notawrestlerxsg doesn’t matter the fandom, (I root for SDS). It’s just kinda a pattern. Penn State has a mold that they like to build their wrestlers in to. Excels in all three positions, quick, incredibly well conditioned, aggressive, doesn’t back up much, holds center, consistently shooting, ect. Idk man, I watch his matches and in my head I think, “he wrestles like a Penn State guy”. He fits the Penn State mold.
@@MMAWIZARDMMA I believe it’s still a 3 count for danger exposure. However, a lot can turn that count off and reset it easily. Like rolling resets it, rolling back resets it, getting your back a few inches of the ground resets it. That’s probably why he didn’t end up getting the TD. It’s the same ugly situation that happened with Braeden Davis vs Ohio States Killeary. However, the drop down rule is 5 seconds, which is probably what the both of you are thinking of.
Wonder why we never see Hamiti in freestyle? Maybe DT can convince him to hang around and give it a go. Looks like he could be pretty nasty at 79 Or get big and go 86kg
Wow. I think this team beats Iowa. It's hard to believe Taylor could already make an impact, but OSU seems more aggressive top to bottom. Certainly it's nicer not to see John Smith working the referees constantly; Taylor's team focuses on making the officials' calls irrelevant.
@@andycayton3433 I said "it's hard to believe". Large-scale human enterprises are difficult to change on a dime, especially those reliant on individual initiative and chemistry. And OSU was already at a very high level. But Taylor seems to have lifted it. That seems unusual. That said, John Smith was one of the most aggressive and respected wrestlers ever to compete, too.
125: Troy Spratley, probably bonuses honestly. 133: Drake Ayala, however, Witcraft is a scrapper. 141: Tagen Jamieson 149: Kyle Parco. Carter Young, although his record may not show it. I believe he’s in that match. He can score on anyone, question is if he can hold it down long enough to edge the win out. 157: Jacori Teemer if healthy 165: Mikey Caliendo has only gotten better and has a recent win over Amine 174: Dean Hamiti, bonuses anyone they send out besides maybe Brands who always keeps it close. 184: Honestly, closer than some think. Dustin only won against Gabe 5-1 when he was a true freshman. However, I think if they use Angelo here it goes either way. Angelo is harder to score on. 197: Stephen Buchanan, possible bonus. I’d like to think Surber can keep it to a dec though. HWT: Hendrickson, possible bonus. Wouldn’t hold it against him. However, Keuter is a fighter and an AA threat. Iowa takes 5 out of 10 matches and Okie St takes 5 out of 10 matches. So honestly, it comes down to bonus. Would be a fun one for sure.
When osu wrestle ou the wrestles were terrible on the pin calls. The Henson pin looked a little quick but he was def stuck. Id rather them call it then like the osu/ou do when they just let a guy lay on his back for ten seconds Henson is a beast. I thought for sure he’d go 157 and smash that weight. I think he would win it. 149 is tougher tho so I’m glad to see him in it.
You’re VT or a Henson fan it shows. You’ve commented like 20 times, holy. Healthy Caleb Henson vs Healthy Meyer Shapiro would be fireworks. Don’t see a world in which Shapiro loses that. I think Henson has the better gas tank, Meyer is to wirery.
How did they not give Smith anything for that OT scramble? Looked like a tack down, some danger points , maybe back points, maybe a pin lol. Somehow doesn’t get any points. I dunno about that one. It was a great match tho
1:03:31 are you telling me Hamiti isn't a cat or has spider senses???? He ducks this guys leg so fast as it's getting kicked over that's Ultra Instinct.
Love Hendrickson but when Catka’s slow shot gets in deep, Gable is destroying him still. Kerk prolly as well. Unless he can get on top I can’t see anyway he could beat either guy

People are suprised osu is good…. 34 natty champs,143 individual natty champs, 488 all Americans. U can’t beat that
Absolutely no one is surprised that OSU is good. They’re good EVERY year. It’s just more widely discussed because of the change in head coaching and staff. DT is about as high profile as it gets in wrestling.
@ yah getting David is gonna be amazing for us, I agree with you, it’s about as high as a level u can get
U think Osu could challenge PENN ST? The way OSU dominated VA tech, I am a believer
@it be a hell of a duel
@MythicYetiiiiii how Osu get Amine from us? Lol. Weird to see Amine in anything other than Mich singlet
Fuck yes for whoever posted this. Thank you
Look at how Taylor and company's positivity has improved OSU already! Not surprised they were down for quite some time.

Exactly. They kept making that mistake. There’s no throws and jiu-jitsu. I mean I guess they can be but that’s not what’s about.
Hearing the announcer saying jiu jitsu is hilarious. Havent even watched yet but you’d think this 157 match should be some exciting and high flying.
Fish was pinned lol. Damn ya knew this would be an exciting match up. You don’t want to go upper body with hipolito
Idk if this will make sense to anyone else, but Dean Hamiti Jr wrestles like a Penn State wrestler
…huh???
Exactly?😂@@michaelscott33
Makes sense to me.
it makes sense that a Penn State fan would say something like that

Love Witcraft's drag. So smooth, so simple.
Imagine being a PSU fan watching the program that will dismantle their dynasty in the next 2-3 years.
Damn Spratley beasted on him
Surber was in danger for 4 seconds twice, is it 5 or 4 I don't remember. If its 4 that was a crazy miss call...
It's 5. Same as a holding a single stall call
@ oh ok good. I thought I heard it changed but thanks for the correction
A danger count is 3 seconds… not 4 or 5? The drop down count is 5 seconds.
@@JushawnF I thought the rule has changed from 5 to lower but after seeing that I don’t know

What an amazingdual. I love wrestling.
Greatest folkstyle collegiate team in U.S. History! OSU Cowboys best of all time no team close!
😂😂 because they were the only team that took wrestling seriously for years
HAMITI THE CALAMITY

Thats was a pretty quick 2 swipe at the end there??
Fisher gave a much better effort then Stewart would of
That post double by Henson was nice.
Surver could have easily gotten the rt point then went for the turn instead of trying it 30 seconds in

Surber is nearly impossible to take down, he always makes something out of nothing.
Hamiti looking tough 💪🏼
Vt got smacked, wonder where jimmy mullen was. Was hoping to see him vs Hendrickson
Match was over at that point.
1:03:31 are you telling me Hamiti isn't a cat or has spider senses???? He ducks this guys leg so fast as it's getting kicked over that's Ultra Instinct.
Oh vtech didn’t want to throw Jimmy Mullen to the wolves? Instead Catka has to go get destroyed. Big Jim would have been much more interesting.
How did Ohio state not get Sasso’s brother ? He’s better than their young 197s
Jamison reminds me a lot of Caliendo
Elaborate
Only win they got was bc a mess up sheesh they’re dominating
Brother they won two bouts not just won. Stop yapping.
No points when Latona was on his back for at least a three count?
At that point it didn’t matter. Jamieson shut him out.
Young’s gotta be smarter than that tho lol. Pretty much pinned himself in short time. Henson is great tho. Can’t wait to watch him smash van ness
You think he “smashes” van ness?
Not really competitive at all. Oky state destroyed tech. A lot of high scoring exciting matches tho. I’m sure Pyles is crying somewhere
Hamiti with the Spencer Lee tilt.
Love Hendrickson but when Catka’s slow shot gets in deep, Gable is destroying him still. Kerk prolly as well. Unless he can get on top I can’t see anyway he could beat either guy
29:56, 32:58, 33:28
Henson dominate
Naw, young made thee BIGGEST miscalculation of judgment this season by far and spladdled himself! 😂🤦🏾♂️
