    At 1:15 it sounds pristine, at 3:45 it sounds blown, at 8:05 it sounds like a smaller speaker, at 10:25 it sounds like a cell phone speaker, and at 11:25 it sounds like a birthday card

      Devi Ever had a fuzz called the Torns Peaker. It doesn't really sound like this but it sounds gnarly and good.

    The low end is really interesting, mids and high seem to adjust themselves to it. Held itself together better than I was expecting

    6:00 ~ 7:00 sounds like theres an octave or some kind of effect that makes your guitar sound double. Its pretty interesting.

      I heard it too. Sounds like a very faint octave/fuzz. Johan, you should have done this "slice and dice" episode for Halloween! LOL! At the very end once you killed the dust cap it just sounded like an electric kazoo/fart. Rock on bro!

    6:09 you made it vibrate at an octave lower than what you played! It sounds like you have an octave pedal along with your actual melody line. That is so cool

    Well, I'll never hesitate to buy a speaker with a small tear in it again. It didn't even sound different until about the fourth cut!

      I've found that to be the case too. One of my marshall speakers had a tear in it for years and I didn't even know until I decided to change the grill cloth one day

      Good bit of duct tape too will sort out any hole, not worth throwing away a good Celestion or somesuch

    When I was a kid in the 80s I patched my guitar into my dad's stereo and it was one of the best sounds I had back then 😂😂 perhaps I did it through the phono and I had a ton of gain and the eq🤟🤟

    Thanks for teaching me how to make my speakers sound cooler. I had a breakdown and threw 4 speakers but only 2 speakers got torn. now I can use them as bass speakers with extra distortion with a super fuzz pedal that I was thinking about circut bending to get even more distortion.

    This was a great video. I saw this done and really it was common in the 60's and early 70's was to slice the speaker with a razor blade..it's how you got distortion from cabs/amps without master volumes. At least we have master volumes on things now. Very interesting video.

    you could probably get the "blown" sounds non destructively by taping pieces of paper against the dust cap to rattle around

    You should make an "alternative cone" for the voice coil and see how that sounds. Possibly shipping tape?

    Old timers used to run razor blades on the speaker cones to make it distort. They don’t have dirt pedals or overdrive channels on amps like we have today. Now even the most basic practice amps have Clean & OD channels.

    I think the voice coil and/or dust cap can sound really good layered with the unaltered speaker. Will help cut thru the mix

    I'm going to have to keep a "fucked up" cab or two for special purposes! I loved it with just a couple chunks missing, and then with just a bit of dust cap left. Really cool.

    That speaker really hung in there . Just the voice coil had almost
    Acoustic guitar sound very airy highs. If the voice coil was still
    Glued to the spider, so it didn't buzz , I could see recording that sound !
    Very cool. Johan , Link Ray would be proud!

    Almost like a bass cut the more it gets torn up, eventually it gets to nasal but somewhere in the middle it's really nice and clear sounding.
