Exactly! I cannot understand why such a simple device is so difficult to find. All I want is four sliders and four knobs with a slight inclination built into it, a solid box, a solid feel, and one that doesn’t slide all over the place.
I agree that the faderbox's cost makes sense when the product comes from an individual who makes it, not a factory that can order in bulk. My highest cost assumption (using mostly amazon) is $92 USD or less just for electronics: $20 teensy, $2 custom PCB, $10 x 4 for the 128mm(?) potentiometers (steep price), $30 for cords/ports/misc. By far the biggest single cost would be that custom bent box which is cleanly done. Plus you get his open-source software so you don't have to learn how to program. And if you want more faders/knobs you can buy them yourself and wire them into the board, as suggested on his site. Good luck finding an enclosure that looks as good as his though lol. Maybe find a friend with a 3D printer.
Yeah I think that would be fair to say, I reckon you're pretty much spot on. But you're right the enclosure is so nice haha. Actually after having a look there appear to be similar ones on Etsy but made of acrylic. They're more reasonably priced and probably have the exact same controller inside... but don't look half as good!
Te quiero MARCUS, te sigo hace más de 7 años, verte de nuevo sin duda me hace revivir tu musica en mí cabeza. ❤️ Espero con ansias tus próximos proyectos.
3:47 I see what you did there😉 .. also I don't know if it's proprietary to Studio 1 only, but I've got a PreSonus Faderport 8 controller that I really like. Think it was around $500 or so when I bought a few years back. It's not just faders if that's all you're looking for, but I really like the faders it has- they're motorized and seem to have a good feel to them. Anyways, enjoying this video- thanks for posting!
nice looking bit of kit but even that's a bit too complicated for my taste! Would be nice if mine were motorised but it's not a huge inconvenience to occasionally search around to find out what CC i was on :) Cheers!
Interesting (Something new). Thank you for the little inside and the expert evaluation. It's nice to see some content besides the good music. Keep it up at your own pace. I'm happy to wait for/see more of both. Love the music though. :-)
Oh look my favorite artist uploaded a video! Is it music? No. But I do not care because any content from him is good and I love his accent! (BTW Marcus what is the meaning behind the lyrics for Daylight and Solstice?) Keep it up my man!!!
Hi Markus I have one of those and I like it Works well in Cubase but I decide to change to Ableton because of my synths And Ableton doesn't recognise the fade box Do you have any hint? Many thanks, Joao
Interesting video! I've seen the review by Dan Keen too. And, although I don't really need one rn, your video confirmed my opinion on this very good-looking box. :P Will definitely remember it, thank you. :)
Out of curiosity: are the issues you are having with your icon possibly related to working on mac (sounds like driver issues and minimal support if you can't even program it outside windows) or is the general feedback that people are having issues with it? Regardless hope you enjoy your new gadget and am looking forward to new music. PS: That's a nice view out the window and a very nice dog
That's a good point at they very well could be, though if I recall rightly my flatmate had a Platform M and it also gave him problems. It also wouldn't account for the mod fader just giving up after two years with nothing changing! Thank you :)
This is good. I can't beleive how few of these there are. I've got a doepfer pocket electronics in a box somewhere, been thinking of making my own but don't really have the space to build a box... was thinking of using a cigar box!
I felt like the dog listening to human sound! I didn't understood anything, though felt good to hear from fav composer :) Is there something coming like Beja!?
Not a fan of their ethics when it comes to copyright and people duplicating my music on there. Was certainly not going to pay for the premium version any time soon.
Marcus what would you tell to someone who loves music but has never been able to learn an instrument? I'm learning piano right now and I would like that someday I might be able to do a great song for any videogame, but what would you advise to any newbie?
Number one advice would be to do it because you love to make music and it's an obsession - don't think too hard about long term goals for what you want to do WITH the music. If you're enjoying the process enough then the music will be good, and the rest will follow.
Definitely not! He has produced far more great music in his releases so far. And as I understand there is a lot more to come even in the style of "Tokyo Rain" for this year and the next. Maybe you just stay tuned and in the meantime listen to his other releases maybe on Spotify, if you have an account.
Yes, a true gap. No, I'm not feeling entrepreneurial (at least, in hardware devices). Maybe the recent M-VAVE SMC-Mixer could be a sort of substitute. For me, the perfect device would be a NR.2 100mm FADER. I haven't found one at an acceptable price (which for me would be
@@MarcusWarnerMusic Maybe. But still overpriced for what it is today. Just look at what controllers that cost even £50 have these days. For 180 you could buy a controller with a lot more functionality. Not even a Korg controller or novation launch cost that much. And the there's the used market to boot. The gentlemen needs to lower the price for sure.
Info for the lost souls in a search of fader MIDI controler: It appears that it's pretty easy to create your own MIDI controler. Get Arduino Micro, few faders, soldering iron, some wires and watch few UA-cam videos. If it will work I will have 4 fader beauty. What could go wrong? :^)

Any new japanese based songs like the one you had “Tokyo Rain" !
Yes! But I'm afraid you'll have to wait until next year. It's something very special though. :)

@@MarcusWarnerMusic All true. That Teensy type of controller is very common for low-production-volume keyboards, macro pads, and midi devices.
I essentially need to buy VS Faderbox, but I can not find it in any webshop to buy. Would you please give a seller link of this device?
