- This is the best introduction to the NWOBHM that I can imagine. The band released a single in 1979 and with it's amateur approach and almost no production, some people will not like it. To me, the enthusiasm and attitude inherent in this makes it one of the very best singles released ever.
I have to announce that sadly Leighton John the vocalist on this and 'out with a vengeance' passed away recently..Neil rogers who played bass with N Flyer passed away around 3 years back .. its now only myself and Roger Davies (who is in a band with me now) who are left. Great days of metal mayhem and madness ... its great to know that people are still listening to this even though it isn't of the best quality ...lol...thems were the days just bash it out !

Hehe..I wondered when this would crop up on here ... I was the drummer on this track, it was the b-side to a single called Out With A Vengeance and was recorded at Spaceward Studios in Cambridge .. the studio is still going too. This track was also recorded by a band from San Francisco called The Weird Lord Slough Feg ( I think thats what they are called) as part of the 25th anniversary of the NWOBHM a few years back. Great to hear it on youtube...and HEAVY METAL STILL RULES !!!
Came here from Chris Jericho's latest podcast episode (EP310--towards the end, around 1:15:00) where Lars Ulrich mentions this as a great anthemic heavy song from an early, obscure NWOBHM band. Great song, really.

who would have thought that after all these years our obscure little single would be mentioned on air by the mighty Lars Ulrich? abd also have been covered by Slough Feg which I would love to hear?...anyone have it to put on here?...you couldn't have made it up ...thanks Lars ..lol

Thanks alot for this song! I have only got a CD-R Copy of the single, but to me it's one of the greatest hymns to the music that I love! We play it at almost every party and always the people go totally crazy on it!
The cover was by The Lord Weird Slough Feg, yes, and it came out on the Miskatonic Foundation independent label. Great to see you commenting on here - it's such a great single. Thanks for recording it ;-)

What kills me with this single is that the band, when asked to either edit the song or distort the audio to make it fit a 7" single chose to distort it! I'd love to hear a re-recording of it because it really is a fantastic riff!

The lyrics are simple and naïve, but "worst heavy metal lyrics ever"? NEVER! To me, they're true, from the heart and therefore worth far more than 95% of all the shit that many call "heavy metal" these days.
Yes I can confirm I have the original single in its picture sleeve together with photos of the band on-stage in 1980 at the Hotel Executive /Aberavon Beach Hotel. Oh I got the set list and the T shirt and the sticker also !!
Im a bit of a sad git I guess but the guitarist Roger Davies now services our heavy metal company vehicles. Keep on Rocking see you one day in the Knights Arms if I win the lottery !!!
To think that this is the greatest single ever released is so bizzar, it makes one wonder if you just woke up to life, I could only imagine some of the stuff you believe, I don't know if you realize the earth is round, but I thought i'd share that with you in case you had no idea you were on earth, the greatest single ever released, wow😲

@rokker101 I've got an original copy of this gem, I still play it on my radio (The Sunday Rockshow, BCFM radio 93.2fm , Bristol UK) every now and again. To me it sums up perfectly the true post punk spirit of the whole NWOBHM. Just form a band and go and do it. Who cares if the end result isn't perfect, the band here are obviously having fun and thats all that really counts.

h again .. just thought id mention that the lyrics to this song are on a site and described as 'the worst heavy metal lyrics ever' lol ..and Ive found that Nightime Flyer are on a lot of download sites ... seems that theres a lot of people out there making money out of my band from sooo long ago theres even been limited edition coloured vinyl bootlegged and on ebay !...jeeez and I dont even own this single !!!...thats rock n roll for ya ...ciao 4 now
