If ever a Nwobhm deserved success it was Praying Mantis. This is good but love their debut lp 'Time tells no lies' the most, if i had a dollar for every time ive played that masterpiece in the last 35 years!
I can't really decide which version I like better - this raw one or the cleaner one from Metal 4 Muthas compilation. One thing is for sure - Captured City is one of the best NWOBHM songs. Thanks for posting this whole single, man.
I first knew this wondeful classic in 1983, because of Metal For Muthas. 40 years later, I still love all those songs, and this complete list of videos. Superb British Metal!
Sinto saudades quando o Rock era coisa de rebelde, hoje em dia é cheio de gravatinhas e riquinhos da industria da musica com direitos autorais e outras palhaçadas.
I remember the start of the NWOBHM very well and Praying Mantis were right at the forefront of the revolution. They were one of bands tipped for big things along with Maiden, Saxon etc.
I'm 23 and hearing this for the first time. I'd like to join you in your praise of mentioned parties, for I would never have heard my new favourite band without them.
pure heavy metal from magic nwobhm band praying mantis. love the cover of the single this is from too. no frills just pure metal. nice groovy riff too. #nwobhmforever
I was around 'back in the day' listening to rock music. When the NWOBHM first started two bands were really tipped to reach the top. They were Iron Maiden and Praying Mantis.
Bad contract, bad management, waiting to long to release the album, waiting to long to get a lead singer, as Tino admits today... I don't actually agree with the last point (although this was a condition under which one good manager would agree to take care of the band): Bernie Shaw is a monster, but Troys' and Steve's vocals didn't lack anything either. Wishbone Ash also never had a lead singer (maybe apart from Tony Kishman in 1996) and they still became huge. More astonishing is for me why Praying Mantis didn't became huge in the 90's, especially with Tony O'Hora, or even more in 2003, when they released their opus magnum, the masterpiece called "The Journey Goes On". Oh, I know: between 2001 and 2005 they didn't give a single concert...
first saw this in a secondhand record shop in 1980 and bought the 12" EP - was on clear vinyl I think ?- sounds like that, maybe was the original recording and Muthas was remixed/rerecorded Lost all my vinyl after being hospitalised due to motorbike accident in 1986 and this and Freebird (Skynyrd) clear vinyl were my biggest losses!
If You see me looking If you see my eyes If you visions of a city Is capture in the skies Makes you strong and weary Sounds but a cry Monumental prisión cells Searching through the skies Captured city! City in the skies! Captured city! City in the skies! Torment is their pleasure Creeping up at you Such a zero life of hell Exept those very few Looking to their life with you Looking to solve the war Find the golden key To open up the door Captured city! City in the skies! Captured city! City in the skies! Solo de guitarra. Questions they can't answer Even whath you see Minus this real cliché Show for you and me Dawn lights another day And day tills muy eyes Visions of a city Is captured in the skies Captured city! City in the skies! Captured city! City in the skies!
Some of these NWOBHM bands/songs just exist at this crazy nexus of different styles/genres. This song is just so peculiar and unique, I love it.
Like, what's with breaking into a waltz halfway through? Love it.

You can totally hear the Thin Lizzy inspiration in this one!
Omg yeah!! Ugh Phil died on my birthday 😢 love the guy
It's more Wishbone Ash if you ask me.
Both great bands!!!! make that three great bands!!!!
They had 60% of Iron Maiden at one point! Anyhow, amazing song with tons of melodies utilizing thirds everywhere. Brings me back!
Dang this is sick! Can't believe I've never heard it before. I have their "Time Tells No Lies" as one of my most prized pieces in my vinyl collection.
4:45 goosebumps! This is so cool❤ 80s classic British heavy metal, simply beautiful!
This was like a new world when I was 13.
Happy days.
plattenandy du alte Kartoffel
NWOBHM was the best metal scene ever
That, my friends, is ROCK'N"ROLL!
Hell yeah, Metal Church still makes me want to headbang all night!
If I ever had access to a time machine, I'd go back in time to give my younger self a mixtape with NWOBHM. This song would be in it.
I would rather just go and see all the 80s concerts
Buenos recuerdos de mi juventud con esta canción
This raw production sounds like the debut of Tygers of Pan Tang - Wild Cat
Excellent composition 😎 🎧 🎼 🎤 🎸 🎵 💓 🎶 💗 👍
What a kick ass cover. Hand tangled in barb wire.

Best Melodic Heavy Metal song of all time.
I really enjoy the vinyl-dirty sound of this version, almost 10 years from the 1st time I heard it and I still feel excitement...damn!
This is a song with a very good co-operation of vocals upon the guitars . Perfect match.
What a amazing song.
Is anyone aware that Phil Campbell auditioned with PM. He was offered the job too. Didn't go back and the rest is history.
didn't have idea!!!! Thanks!!!
4:38 blew my head away
was saying the same
I love this ..... pure NWOBHM....thanks for sharing!\m/
Just remembered..... I still have this single. This is even better on a good record deck, playing it now !
Hi, do you still have this single? and would you like to sell it, thanks
This one that was the best version, no question about it in my opinion
Tino Troy Guitar, Vocals
Chris Troy Bass, Vocals
Pete Moore Guitar, Vocals
Chris Hudson Drums
fantastic and from 3.21 it just builds up.
Metal for Muthas! brought me here!
I remember the start of the NWOBHM very well and Praying Mantis were right at the forefront of the revolution. They were one of bands tipped for big things along with Maiden, Saxon etc.
You're so lucky to have been there when it was happening. I can only imagine how exciting it must have been.
@@hmpz36911 As a teenage rock fan it was great....all those new bands at the same time!
LMAO..I really struggle to remember many bands I saw during the day :) but this 1 is a classic from the time

They were stupid to not put this on an album
This version smokes the one on Metal for Muthas

@ss14thpanzer yes it was rerecorded....because it hears a little differnet...
Kind of Blue Oyster Cult vibe Somehow. Cool band.
A todo volumen gonorrea
Que hijueputa tema!
You have forgotten Vicious Rumors !!!!!
Nice scratch version! The Metal for Muthas version is a lot cleaner.
It take black belt to make this sound
@pconley22 two words Iron Maiden
Good song! Check it out!
Hubieron bandas mejores q los Iron Maiden, pero no tuvieron la misma suerte de ser tan populares en este país, q estaba atrasado en la música
