  • Anamika Khanna talks about the constant conflict present between personal style and expensive fashion. She also shares certain incidents from Fashion weeks where innovation turned disasters into huge hits. Her talk revolves around the perceptions of fashion and how a confluence between Western and Indian fashion can be achieved
One of the leading fashion designers in the country, Anamika Khanna has distinguished herself through her elegant creations that have the perfect amalgamation of Indian textiles and western tailoring. Her timeless and yet innovative designs combine definite structures with the desired fluidity. She was not only the first designer to launch an international label in 2004, but also the first female Indian fashion designer to showcase her collection at the Paris Fashion Week in 2007.
Anamika's outfits are regularly sported by prominent Bollywood personalities, both in films as well as otherwise. Often selected among the most powerful women in India, Anamika also has interest in Indian classical dancing and painting.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Can't tell how motivating this video was. I'm in 12th and I decided to be a designer when I was in 8th grade, but I've got so many friends pursuing fashion designg constantly telling me how tough the game is which somewhere upsets me and makes me drop my passion. But whenever I listen to people like you it motivates me like anything.

Elegantly said✨very true style can be minimalistic as well and doesn’t have to be gaudy. People mistake simplicity with plainness which is silly. Everyone has a different style.

I love other cultures dress. Each culture has its own style and designs. Some are bright and flamboyant. Others plain and basic colours. Designing for others is difficult. I understand this.

don't give up, it's easy to face those who don't like change, don't ignore their words. For me those who challenge me are just statues looking for luck behind our difficulties. But, for me it's fun. They will be opponents and inspiration for me....
