This is the Meryla Street level crossing at Robertson NSW. It is located on the branch line between Moss Vale and Unanderra which mostly sees freight trains.
The crossing was passive until these signals were installed on September 5, 2002. Both signals have Western Cullen Hayes gate mechanisms, Alstom LED lights and Western Cullen Hayes mechanical bells. The bell on the northern signal (painted black) is original and rings from start up until the gates lower. The bell on the southern signal rings until the gates rise, this bell is only a year old and replaced the original bell after it died.
    Train information:
1st train: TM71 empty coal from Port Kembla to Tahmoor Colliery, with locomotives 8218 & 8256 leading and 8255 at the rear.
2nd train: 3938 flour from Narrandera to Nowra, with locomotives 8159 and 8131.
    Filmed on March 11, 2018.

I love the look of freshly painted signals...

Yes they look nice with a new coat of paint, it's not very common these days. All three crossings at Robertson were repainted but strangely they never painted any of the bells. The new bell here could really use some paint, it's only a year old and already the gong is starting to rust.

does Australia have a horn crossing sequence (ex. Long-Long-Short-Long) like America does?

It's always random but there is at least 5 trains every 24 hours!
I could give you more information of how this line works!

Nice to see that each WCH mechanical bell is a different color! I'm also glad the one bell was replaced with another mechanical bell instead of an e-bell!

When the crossing was installed they were still in the practice of painting bells, but that no longer happens any more. Sure was nice to see a new mechanical bell installed here, it rarely happens these days.

Nice to see that very little has changed here over the years. Looks like the signals recently got a new coat of paint!

All three crossings at Robertson were painted just a few weeks before filming!

Nice! Sounds like the older bell might be starting to go as well.

Thanks! The older bell is clicking and sounds a bit weak, so it's probably on the way out. Hopefully it gets replaced by another new m-bell :)
