Fastest marathon by a Member of Parliament is by Matthew Parris who did 2:32:57 in the London Marathon in 1985. Don't think our current bunch of MPs will be beating that any time soon.
How about athletes from other sports? The tennis player Caroline Wozniacki ran 3:26 in New York in 2014, and Amélie Mauresmo, former tennis player and coach, just ran a 3:14 in San-Sébastien (I think she's done at least 6 marathons)
Joe Strummer, frontman for The Clash, ran 3 marathons. Before The Paris Marathon, he drank 10 pints of beer the night before and didn't run a single step 4 wks. before the race. His time was believed to be 3:20. He died of a congenital heart defect at age 50.
I ran the Conwy marathon in 2019 and was chatting to Adrian Morley on the start line, lovely guy and he ran what I thought was a very impressive 3:54 for a stocky rugby player, he also looked like we was held together by multiple strappings from years of rugby injuries. I've only ran a couple of road marathons, fastest was 3:16 but it was the Snowdonia marathon so I remember trying to work out if that would have been the equivalent of a sub3 on a flat and fast course, and I think it would have been close, only run trail and fell these days though.
I almost died running 2.5 miles today... I can't imagine ever running a full marathon let alone running one under 4 hours. hats off to ANYONE who can do that.
I'm always impressed by Daniel Humm (Former partner and chef at eleven madison park) being a 3 hr marathon runner. I think 3hr 4min was his last NY time. As a chef myself, getting the training done while putting in full days in the restaurant takes a different level of savage. Not to mention a restaurant that is at the level of eleven madison park. That guy is putting in longer days at the restaurant than some work in an entire week. Then pumps out a 3 hour marathon. Probably went back to work after crossing the finish line.
The Safaricom Marathon takes place in Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya. It is an incredible event, and running through a game park is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a bucket list event.
This is such a sweet video. I just ran a 5:43. It was way more difficult than I thought it would be, but also super fun! Love and watch your videos all the time. I love how positive and informative they are!
My dad ran the Marine Corp marathon the same year as Oprah! My mom, sister brother & I hung out in one if the Smithsonian museums until he was supposed to pass by. Back in the day before GPS watches and tracking and we guesstimated based on average pace. End of the course was very muddy and there were Marines all over helping folks meet up with their runners. A memorable day for all of us.
I've got a feeling Luis Enrique ran a sub 3hr marathon in Florence as well as banging out some big efforts on the old Iron-man's too. Pep may also have a decent marathon time I know he also did lots Iron-man when he 1st retired as a player. Great video as always!
Great and fun video to watch. My PB is 2:57:56 so I beat Luis Enrique by 2 seconds (he finished Florence marathon in 2007 in 2:57:58). There is yet another Sub3h famous Spanish ex-footballer: Raúl González (2.59:25 in Madrid I think 2018).
I ran 4:04 at my local trail marathon last year my 15th marathon at age 56 So close to sub 4 Wanted to do better again this year as I ran a 1:44 half marathon last December and my training was going really well until ,yeah you guessed it ive had long covid all this year and have done very little exersise It's going to take a long time to get back to my precovid fitness
I was glad to hear that I’m about 1 minute faster than the average men’s marathon finish time at 4:20:24, that was the only marathon I’ve ever raced and I’m excited to come back to the marathon distance in January after 4 years
Love the format Ben, light hearted trivia while running is very entertaining 👏 Look forward to the speed round where Sarah asks you tough questions during 100m repeats 😅 Kudos to Alan Turing!
Gordon Ramsay has also run Comrades several times. No doubt you'll be comfortably beating his time of 10.31...I did 11.19 on my first attempt at Comrades this year. Next year I'll definitely be looking to a bit quicker than Gordon's time.
Not trying to brag, but I am about 30 seconds faster than former Brazilian footballer Kaka, who ran 3:38 at the 2022 Berlin marathon 😂 Granted, he’d probably run a lot faster with a football, haha. Love these videos! Please keep them coming!
I see the first video from you, but I'm most impressed that you have shortened back muscles and weak abs. And you should definitely stretch your hip flexors. No offense. Your times are phenomenal. That is why I'm even more amazed that you're neglecting stretching and exercise like this.
Eliud Kipchoge - 2:01:09 (Berlin 2022); pretty famous.
Yep and sub 2 st breaking 2 kipchohe is the marathon goat big time legend
You need to guess the time. Everybody knows kipchoges sub 2 hour time
my favourite surprising one is Alan Turing, the mathematician most famous for cracking the Enigma code in WW2, ran a 2:46:03 ... in 1947!
Wow.. that's a great find. Makes me want to go watch the imitation game again!!
Plot twist: he discovered PEBA foam in the 40s and was poisoned by Nike researchers traveling back in time.
@@buttsniffa7469 maximum electrotherapy.
@@buttsniffa7469 what does that have to do with anything?
@@jo_cho because they are generally weak and not particularly athletic

Not quite an MP, but Ron Clarke as the then Mayor of Gold Coast stood for election as an MP but was defeated. 2:20 PB even though he had a bad race.

Loved the added sound effect when you thought you’d beaten Chef Rambo, great editing work Sarah, made me laugh 😂👍
I almost died running 2.5 miles today... I can't imagine ever running a full marathon let alone running one under 4 hours. hats off to ANYONE who can do that.
Weirdly, this is one of my favourite videos you’ve done! Love stuff like this. 🎉🎉
Really really enjoyed this! Lighthearted and fun, and you can really see Sarah’s humour coming through in the editing. More like this please!
Not a marathon, but Ronnie O'Sullivan ran a 34 odd minute 10k. Not bad.
Yes.. he's one person I'd love to go for a run with. Absolute hero! Maybe he'll step up to the marathon one day
Indeed! Think he's still doing the odd XC for Woodford Green 🙌
what was that cut at 5:38! ben was about to sing newww yooorkk hahaha. fantastic fun video guys, really enjoyed this one :D

Can't believe you forgot Sophie Raworth, the BBC newsreader. Think she did the London Marathon in 3:33. She has completed the Abbot series too.
We need to make version 2! For this one we tried to get people who everyone around the world might know.. which is hard!
Very minor correction to Chris Evans; he's ran London quite a few times now, his fastest time is actually 4:39:53 from 2016.
This is such a sweet video. I just ran a 5:43. It was way more difficult than I thought it would be, but also super fun! Love and watch your videos all the time. I love how positive and informative they are!

One big one from this year was former Bayern Munich and Chelsea footballer Arjen Robben who ran the Rotterdam Marathon in 3:13:40
That's certainly one of the fastest footballers I've heard of.. well done Arjen!
I've got a feeling Luis Enrique ran a sub 3hr marathon in Florence as well as banging out some big efforts on the old Iron-man's too. Pep may also have a decent marathon time I know he also did lots Iron-man when he 1st retired as a player.
Great video as always!
Less than 1% of folks have run a marathon, and 100% of those will tell you they have 😂 great video as always team
So true!
Have run several not a
Some say 'marathon' but drop the word half, or consider the 5 or 10k fun run a marathon because it was on the same day!
Ricardo Kaka, ex football player run a 3:37 in Berlin a couple months ago.
Well that was fun 😊😊 Jenni Falconer is an very good marathon runner. I think she’s around the 3:30 mark 👌👌
Sarah Palin did a sub-4. And a 1:46 1/2.
New format, Ben runns with the celebs. I would like to see that !
Filming, riding, asking questions and not crashing into anyone. Well done, Sarah! 😀

I ran 4:04 at my local trail marathon last year my 15th marathon at age 56
So close to sub 4

This video is great, love the light hearted running content.

My PB is exactly equal to James Cracknell’s! If only I could row like him….
Love the format Ben, light hearted trivia while running is very entertaining 👏 Look forward to the speed round where Sarah asks you tough questions during 100m repeats 😅
Kudos to Alan Turing!
Enjoyed that ! Keep it up Ben
Glad you enjoyed it!
I ran a 5:01 at LA in 2011 and IDK how people can run below a 4:20. In my defense it was pouring rain and 5c
Nice one Ben & Sarah! I was there with Kevin Hart 2017 NYC 🏆
Haha the best bit was introducing the O2 as beautiful! 😅

amazing fact.. I had no idea he's done Comrades. Off to look that up now!! Thanks Matt!
Brilliant - loved this video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video. I really enjoyed it, and it was interesting to hear the times. Would be good to hear 5 and 10km times too.
Great video, enjoyed that 😁👍
Same. Really enjoyed that for some variety.
great fun video!
Wow , 2.40 from James Cracknell , incredible for someone at 1.95m and 95kg . Insane time .
Gordon Ramsay is a machine!
I beat Chris Boardman in the 2019 London Marathon by 17 mins !
Never done a marathon before. But I'm thinking of running one just for fun next saturday to see how long it takes me
Casey should be in the thumbnail 😅
ah, the first one got me, I was thinking WIll Ferrell and Kevin Hart recently!
I a fraction faster than Cracknell with a 2:42.
Not trying to brag, but I am about 30 seconds faster than former Brazilian footballer Kaka, who ran 3:38 at the 2022 Berlin marathon 😂 Granted, he’d probably run a lot faster with a football, haha. Love these videos! Please keep them coming!
Ah, that's a good find. I never knew he ran!! Well done Ivan!
How in the heck did you do that while riding your bicycle!?
Everyone beat me 😂 but i will go for an 1 hour and 17 min PB next summer marathon 💪
Never noticed this before but sarah and karlie kloss lowkey look somewhat similar (to me anyways) :D
I believe Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un ran a 1h58m together at the NYC 2019 marathon.
Need to get under 3H to beat Casey. But I'm faster than the rest of the non UA-camrs or actual athletes as a masters runner.
Faster then me? 😉
Kevin Hart is so small he literally had to run twice as much as a normal sized adult.
Marathon wasn’t his forte but Bruce Dern has to be the GOAT of celebrity runners
My first 3h48min einhoven
Fun video! 😋
Thank you 🤗
That was fun!
Probably not faster, but certainly better looking than most of them 🤣🤣
I meant 2009 !
Who's Karlie Kloss never heard of her ..Celebrity ?
She's a model.
You haven't put in any 60 or 65 marathon runners!
great video yet again Ben , but can you please stop calling Sarah your girlfriend ......and put a ring on it 😜
Hello Everybody
Where's my 4:47? XD (fun fact: I'm a 1:36 half marathoner)
Puff Daddy
I see the first video from you, but I'm most impressed that you have shortened back muscles and weak abs. And you should definitely stretch your hip flexors. No offense. Your times are phenomenal. That is why I'm even more amazed that you're neglecting stretching and exercise like this.
Stretching is useless, there is no scientific data backing any effects on training. Most of it is pain alleviation or placebo.
Could have been worse could have been Jamie Oliver.
Gordon Ramsey didn't beat you
He did at the 2004 London Marathon
😜
