When I was a teen, everytime a string broke, instead of replacing, I'd just learn to play with 1 less. Was down to 2 strings at one point. AWESOME for your guitar practise. You have no choice but to walk up and down the neck.

This literally happened to me. I left a friend borrow my guitar who usually smashes guitars when he gets mad but instead he just cut 3 strings off my guitar and gave it back to me. He's so nice to me😁

How did she play a power chord with one string? Power chords include a 5th higher note along with the root note. You can't play chords on one string.

@@Batman.97 I didn't realize she had strings, I could barely hear over her voice and it was quick. She's ok for a folk guitarist. Don't need to shred for that. I honestly don't remember the last time I picked up an acoustic. Todaynwas 2021 Jackson Kelly KEXQ green quilted maple top and Floyd rose. I also love my 1977 Yamaha SG800 with a Kahler and my 3 Jagmasters. And 3 basses

The composer & violinist Niccolo Paganini had a 'party piece' where by keeping a finger nail sharpened, he could cut a string (made with gut at the time) during the performance. The audience would gasp but he would carry on. The piece would increase in difficult variations as it went on & he would continue to break the strings until he was left with just the one.

YEEESS all music terms (and words in general) go over my head, I simply do not hear them, but as a starry eyed yet complete pissnoob I was wondering what those lines behind the strings are for, and this explains it perfectly. A clear visual, I love it, thank you. This is all I needed.
Maybe if I'd used like a second to figure out that shortening a vibrating thing makes the sound it emits higher, I wouldn't have needed to google this, but since music is complete sorcery for me I forgot the laws of physics apply to it.
