More important question: Would you go into business with this person?
If the answer is "no," then that isn't a partnership. A relationship will involve money, which is on par with owning a business. Could you share a bank account with this person?
IF you want kids, then ask yourself this: "Can you stand to live with a teenager for several years?"
Furthermore, the average kid costs $15,512.52-$17,459.43 per year, baseline. That's not including college, vacations, etc. That's also not including the Pink Tax, if you have a girl. Will you be able to cover those expenses?
Yes, finding a good partner for having children is important, but it shouldn't be the only deciding factor. When you have a child, that responsibility doesn't end at 18. That's a lifelong responsibility.

@NextToToddliness Great question and great explanation.
You're right that whether or not you could have kids with your partner should not be the only deciding factor. There are so many factors that play into a successful marriage, let alone a successful relationship.
      Thank you for your comment.

I said this to my ex-boyfriend a year ago. We broke up because of this question.
