STAYINIT. How being in the present can help manage depression and anxiety.

  • Staying present has helped me with managing my anxiety and depression. It has given me the sight to build for a happy and healthy future. Some ways I stay present are breathing, fitness, and awareness of my surrounding. By staying present I have been able to look at myself, my trauma, and the behaviors that come from it. By acknowledging and seeking to understand some of these negative behaviors and tendencies by being present, it allows me to work on them. To grow. To break some of the chains trauma and negative thinking had on me. This has been life changing. By doing this work, and it is work haha, I have been able to build peace in my world. I have been able to grow myself and alleviate a lot of my depression from the loss of my parents and close friends. It has helped also with my anxiety. I still battle with these but I am becoming stronger and more capable of managing them. Thank You God! I encourage you to take some time to get present and look into your soul. What is working? What is not? What needs attention? What doors need to be opened that have been shut for a long time? Be hopeful. This journey is one that takes time. Maybe a lifetime. Do not get discouraged when progress doesn’t come as fast as you would like. Remain strong when the pain feels too much to bare. You can do it. Praying for you. Keep going!
