I shipped out to boot camp in 1984, I only attended 2 poolie functions in 8 months. I was a long distance runner in school and kept it up, plus I worked construction for almost two years after highschool. After busting my butt for 8 - 10 hours a day, boot camp was pretty easy for me. GySgt USMC retired. Semper Fi
Usually yes. But it doesn't always happen at family night. often, you are just sent to a big pool function that involves many of the RSS around the area. Drill Instructors go to those to "thrash" poolees and give em a taste of Recruit Training. S/F
Tbh they kinda asked for it when they didn't tuck their shirts in. They teach us that at my RSS, maybe not everybody, but I feel like it's a good lesson.

There is no reason to have family in the crowd. This is just an embarrassment. I don't think people want to see relatives hop around and yell and scream. This should be done only with marines around not your family.
