Mualani absolutely slaps when you have to deal with enemies that do not move to much but when you have bastards that keep jumping around and running from you she's a bit hard to use. She will be back when the abyss will be more favorable for her.
I knew I could win with her but that scorpion was annoying with its rush attack and the bird when it flew up. Good thing Mualani can sometimes pursue during the bite. Had to keep experimenting with Nahida, Kazuha, Yelan, or Zhongli. Go full glass cannon or resist interruption(+petrified to settle them down)? I was so frustrated I forgot which team actually worked. It was probably Yelan, Xiangling, Xilonen.
yeah when u dont have the investment to one rotate a wave/enemy, shes so buns lol. Partly cause Xiangling wont have her burst up for the next chamber if you finish the last chamber halfway in ur rotation.
yes, on my alt account I just run her+Kuki+XQ+ whatever. I even use a level 20 barbara with +20 artifacts for hydro app and I can finish her side of the abyys everytime, not so much the otherside because I lack characters and better artifacts.
It feels like mualani will end up in a similar place to Lyney incredible DPS on paper and in speed runs, but inconsistent or annoying to play. I feel like ranking her above Arlecchino doesn’t make sense based on the reasons you still have Nevilette at the top of the list, ie on sheet dps mattering less than comfort, ease of use, consistency, flexibility, etc.
not really, the difference is that Lyney just needs such tight timings and good RNG while Mualani just appreciates enemies that dont fly or have immunity frames. Mualani's DPS is always sheeted as 3 bites and a burst, and sure, missing 1 bite does lower her DPS by a TON but you dont encounter those situations very much

Bruv Xianling doesnt need 300% ER,210-240% enough in my Mualani team,i play Mualani Xianling Candace Xilonen,Candace is on R2 Favonius Polearm,i hardly have any problem.

xianling ER problem in 2024? the's definitely a skill issue. that was fixed a long time ago in the inazuma update with the EOSF set. if youre using xianling as an applicator for mualani, then you can just use a fav lance. if you suck so bad at the game, then use ER sands as well.
I don't regret pulling for Mualani, I enjoy her very much. But as you said, she's just too clunky for abyss. I would honestly say that I like her much more for overworld, because she's actually very strong and good there + very easy to traverse landscape.
Mualani has low usage rate for the same reason zhongli has high usage rate, and that's because a lot of people have skill issues and can't play non-braindead characters. Mualani has the fastest clear times in abyss on all investment levels, she is just harder to use than other on fielders.

Ever since I've got Mualani the game has been an ABSOLUTE breeze for me. I love her design, her voicelines and kit and I personally think she is very fun to play. I nuke bosses I usually had trouble with, can kill groups of enemies within a few seconds and she's just absolutely busted for me and I don't even c1 or have her signature weapon. Personally she is an absolute pull and she is very worth learning. I run her with xilonen, sucrose and xiangling in a vape team.

What they need to do is remove the stupid turn that her shark does during her burst animation and just make it a straight line projectile instead of parabolic.

There are plenty hated using XL for mualani, you need above 250ER and that doesn't guarantee Gouba consistently gets all the hits for particles because there are cases when they move away or even dies before Gouba able to generate enough particle to refund XL.
A large amount of Mualani players complain they have trouble getting the third bite out before her nightsoul state runs out. If the pyro archon could extend the duration of nightsoul even just a second or 2 more that already would be a huge help for the casual player
Probably easily accessible and consistent Pyro application with her skill, at the minimum. They can and probably will go wild with her, we just have to look at what Furina did to Genshin
ranking Mualani above Arlecchino was a mistake and I am happy you adjusted that. Saying that a unit can speedrun fastest with cracked artifacts does not prove that the character functions better, you need to look at what the character offers on a base level not the ceiling. Now I understand that's a taller task than just comparing numbers, but Genshin is not just about biggest number best numerous things go into, is the rotations smooth, are they easy to execute, does the character functions in a variety of situations and so on

I'm surprised that Chevreuse doesn't see that much use. Arlecchino Overload absolutely brute force stomped every Abyss for me ever since those two characters came out. They're my go-to pick when Neuvillette doesn't work on one side.
Same here, I used an Arl, Beidou, Bennett and Chevreuse team in the second half and it was not too hard to get 36 stars. I think I only struggled a bit on the second floor needing Beidou to break that plunging Geo shield more quickly. Otherwise things were smooth
She has so much teams that are similar in performance with Chev overloaded; if not better; considering having Kazuha who groups + players don’t have Chev C6

No you don't. Both the geo in the banner aren't good shield breakers. You just need to use a really good claymore user. Unlike other abyss enemies that really force you to pull certain elements otherwise you would have a really bad time. Like Pyro Lectors (hydro), Icewind Suite (pyro), Baptist (dendro).
I would say mualani got a bit of that good ol' eula backlash (missing crits), because you actually lose SO much of your dmg by doing your rotations slightly wrong (missing vapes and/or crits) coupled with the fact using xl bennettless is a complete ER nightmare and the usage rates suddenly makes sense to me. A fun fact from the speedruning side of things The fastest recorded run of the topside of this spiral abyss, at the time of writting, is surprisingly not a Mualani vape team (which some players got 14s), but it is instead a Neuvillete Childe Xilonen Chiori team with 13s.
I'm surprised that Clorinde is so low. I'm very likely in the minority but I had a much easier time getting 36 stars with Clorinde than with geo characters, yes, I did use Clorinde for the geo side.
Yeah me too. One try full star abyss everything with Chlorinde, Fishl, Nahida and Zhongli. Since getting her, I've been able to consistently clear full rewards abyss and she's so fun. Mesa prime anyone?
4:58 Mualani is definitely a lot more annoying than Kinich to play. Seems super fun for overworld, but missing the set up seems to be more punishing than it is for other top DPSs because she's so reliant on that nuke damage. Neuvi's more consistent, a lot of people got C1 on his rerun, and he also has self-sustain capabilities that Mualani doesn't have which is an added comfort. This Abyss also is really not catered to her as it is to geo.

I think there's annoying clunky things for him too bc sometimes it might not track the enemy if they haven't fully spawned at first (like Magu Kenki before he finishes his startup animation), but once he's locked in he's locked in and usually you don't lose track of your enemy. Plus if you end up going for his C1 I've seen him do some crazy damage with that 100 CD added to his overall spikecannon damage lol

I mean this is the case for Mualani, cause a lot of people watch mostly whales pulling her c6r5, shes doing chambers in 3-4seconds, and they think they can do same. Before I get mualani glazers going after me, I agree shes best speedrunner, but thats doesnt result in = best dps or best character. Best character in the game is arguably Furina by a long shot, and best dps as you take a lot of metrics in consideration before you name a character best dps is arguably Neuvillete. I play all of these 3 "best dps" arlecchino,mualani,neuvillete. Neuvillete does not compete in overall speedrun, but blows both of them when it comes to kit wise and the pros he has and almost no con (interrupt resistance at c0 might be a con if you dont run a shield) and kinda thats it.
yup you're so right. CONSISTENT damage is really the most important metric imo for best dps rankings. of course any character can be the best given a situation catered to them, but a character who is great most of the time will always have better pull value than a character who is amazing only once every ten abysses.
I think he's bigger than Bennett. There's a difference between your numbers being lower due to a support change (which can vary depending on carry) and your onfielder just gapping every other one due to ease of use with big returns. Swapping out a Bennett for a Chevy or Thoma or whatever isn't ideal but doesn't impact your play much. Swapping out a Neuv will literally cause many, many players to be unable to complete full stars in the abyss. Every hydro carry, regardless of how brokenly strong they are (see: Mualani), will forever be compared to and have the "I already have" Neuv syndrome.
Love Mulani a bunch, but as someone who *hates* using Xiangling, I did feel like I wouldn't really enjoy her until after the pyro archeon showed up. That said, I did find a team for me that works. Not as powerful, obvs, but still very good. It's Mulani/Dehya/Xilonan/Lynette. Because Lynette swirls with pryo after Dehya's e hits Lynette's burst, so Mulani has all the pyro app she needs to vape. Again, not as strong as if I just used Xiangling, but as someone who doesn't personally find the chef fun, this was a great discovery for me
META - Most EFFECTIVE tactic available If this chart was made by polling speedrunners Mualani would likely be on top as she is the fastest. However this is chart for everyday players where most effective means "Minimum effort for maximum result" and that's Neuvillette. Regular people don't want to reset a bunch of times because of a character with janky gameplay just so they could shave a few seconds off of their clear time if both clear times are under 3 minutes. Most people don't see abyss as a challenge anymore, its just a monthly chore you do for primogems. Me, personally i do it same day it resets in less than 15 minutes, now less than 10 minutes bc they made floors 9 and 10 auto complete (thank god). Why would I, or any other regular player choose to spend an hour on that chore instead, trying to get a slightly better clear time? Not to mention the amount of extra effort you need to put into Mualani compared to Neuvillette to get the same results. Its not very EFFECTIVE if you ask me. Why do y'all keep forgetting what E in META stands for again? If it was just about speed it would be TFTA - The Fastest Tactic Available. I mean imagine you need to wash the dishes. You have a dishwasher and it will wash 'em in 10 mins for you. But every once in a while, if everything goes right, you can do it manually in 9 minutes. Would you wash your dishes manually every day because you can wash 'em faster than the machine 15% of the days, or would you just use the dishwasher?
I like trying to clear with none meta teams and don't feel like it's still chore. I have a very wide account and will very often reach for an Ayaka or Itto team. This abyss my first full star run was Noelle on one side Itto on the other. I find no enjoyment in only focusing on meta.

Not many are willing to practice with mualani when neuv is right there and he's so much easier to play. I've gotten used to her tho and she's absolutely insane if played well.
Opposite for me, Mualani is fun to play because she's mechanically interesting. Playing Neuvi just makes me fall asleep with how braindead simple it is. But the majority of Genshin's playerbase is quite casual so stats like this will always be tilted towards what requires the least amount of effort to get the job done.
mualani doesnt teach u anything new, the skills u use to play mualani are the same skils u use to play xiangling childe and other vv vape teams , the only way u dont know how to play mualani is if u have literally never tried using VV before not to mention u can just play mualani without vv and just do it the melt anyu route wher eu just put zhongli with xiangling instead of kazuha or use dendro burning vape teams instead . mualani gives near perfect interrupt resist i have never had any practical problems playing her

i think Zhongli really deserves S tier at this point solely because the man has been in the top 70% usage rates of abyss for like 5 years now he doesnt fit the typical definition of broken but when it comes to sheer pull value what more can you ask for than the king of anti-aging doesnt even need a weapon or constellations he just works

They're just too many problems for mualan now i: - her gameplay is very clunky especially in mobile -she is not consistent -crit fishing -Xiangling ER -Complicated setup -her targeting can often miss&annoying -if she's not vape the DPS just fall-off a cliff -basically just need many resets For speedrun maybe she can be faster, but for most casual players she's just too annoying to play a bit similar to freeze teams that's why cryo DPS are so low in the usage rate, because why you need to freeze them if you just can pumping all the enemy at once with neuvillette
What do you mean by crit fishing? It is actually the opposite, overcapping crit rate is one of her issue because she is one of the easiest character to get 100% crit rate. And her bite missing is fixed, I haven’t miss a single bite since 5.1.
@@kylet1415 first not everyone have a godly artifacts and weapon so its not that easy to overcap, and second even if you reach 80-90% CR its still have a chance to not crit, and because her damage is single nuke the dps lost are massive compares to consistent DPS who have many hits and like i said even if it's crit but the pyro aura aren't there and it's not vape her damage fall-off, unlike navia for example her damage is pure geo without reliant on amplifying reaction so she cares only to crit and in her team xiangling/furina does solid damage unlike in mualani teams where xiangling only focus on ER and without bennet while furina often disturb the pyro aura so mualani will not vape all of her hits which is again massive DPS lost...
@@kazukinoburu With Natlan set, she already has 59.2 crit rate at baseline. You only need ~41 crit rate to get 100%, a single crit rate circlet and 1 sub is already enough. Even if you want to use crit dmg circlet, 40 crit rate sub stat is very easy to achieve, you don’t need godlike artifact for that. If you can’t build a 100% crit Mualani, that’s a build issue, not a character issue.
@@kazukinoburu it's completely opposite for me. She can clear abyss casually while being in top 80% in terms of build. Based crit rate is 5% + 19% + 40% = 64%. Just used natlan craftable it was literally given in mail to everyone. Her supports don't even need good Artifacts. Just slap favonious on everyone and xiangling has 0 er issues. Mine has 199 er only but still gets her burst back every time. She is literally braindead to play.
@@kylet1415 well if that's true then everyone who has mualani will use her in the abbys and since when a character must have 100% CR xiangling only 60% is already consistent neuvillette with 70-80 can easily wipe out the enemy, but as you can see her usage rate is very low i'm not say she's bad but she is difficult to play... if you master her gameplay then don't assume that everyone else too...
DPS ceiling doesn't really matter as long as your damage is good enough, and comfort will always be the priority. You can see this with how Zhongli's usage rate never drops, especially in teams where people have Neuvilette or Arlecchino-both of them hit hard and don't need much to 36* the abyss. Honestly, I doubt Zhongli's going anywhere even next abyss he's still going to be high, especially now with people running Xilonen as a Kazuha replacement instead of a healer support. Also Mualani is low because of how she plays no matter how much dmg a character can do if the playstyle isn't that intuitive then it will go down in the usage rate.
i have a friend say about mualani that they like her as a character, but absolutely hate her gameplay. It would make sense mualani has less usage rate in relation to her theoretical numbers as majority of the players are casuals so it would tend to where the norm is, and not where the 1% of players are (the try hards, people who actually know how to set-up proper rotations and willing to reset).
Mualani is very hard to use in this abyss, mostly due to the stupid consecrated beasts. They keep jumping about, wasting Mualanis skill time. She'll definitely be used more if there's a boss chamber that is suitable for her in the next abyss

It's crazy how a single dps(Neuvillette) changed the entire game. Every month,he and his team members are always on top! I wonder how much will Mavuika buff Neuvillette, vape Neuvillette with Mavuika will be scary☠️
honestly its possible she will not buff him as much as others, probably she may buff atk because of her being pyro and other reasons(someone on reddit said why very well but im mind blanking). Id bet she will apply pyro, which will let him do vape which could be crazy but im hoping and honestly guessing they wont put in buffing mechanics that cater to him much more, especially not on mavuika, but i guess we will have to see. Im thinking she may buff more teams centred around niche(ish) teams like kinich or be a good pyro applicator and buffer for wrio.
I don't think Mavuika will add much to neuvilette, I expect them to work nicely together, but it probably won't be better than his current teams. Each of his supports bring so much to him that I just imagine that adding mavuika and removing one of them won't change much. That's an interesting thought though, i can't wait for her release
@@arielmk7612 I feel like she can replace kazuha in that team if she can consistently apply pyro off field and Neuvi can vape more and also provides some other kind of buffs. It's just that Neuvillettes kit is so easy and broken,unless Mavuika specifically provides atk buff, she'll somehow be useful in his team.
@@XeReF-lr8jo she'll definitely help, removing Kazuha will reduce neuvillette's damage noticeably, but with xilonen and furina in the team Mavuika's damage might be able to make up for it or even make the overall dmg better. Given that every natlan DPS so far could use some interruption res, she'll likely be able to provide it, further elevating them.❤️🔥
C0R1 Mualani haver here. Using Mualani + Dehya C0 with sac + Xiangling C6 with fork +Xilonen C0 with fav. Very comfortable team for this abbyss. After about 10+ hours of running her in different combats can say that she is much better now with Xilonen and her fixes. She still lacks consistent pyro application, so Mavuika still feels necessary
oh, and I don't use her for ANY enemies that have too much i-frames and even slightly a bit flying above ground, like the "Perpetual Mechanical Array". Mualani can completely miss her nuke attacks on these enemies. +shields are making life very difficult for her.
I’m at the point in my account that I don’t look for the “damage ceiling” when picking teams for abyss. I typically look for comfier teams that get the job done, and that I can casually 36 star on my mobile device
As a f2p I had a really rough time getting 36 stars this time around. Team 1: Neuvi Furina Kachina Kazuha Team 2: Kinich Bennett Yao Yao Dehya I don't have any good/built geo characters (I only have Noelle, Ningguang, Goro and Yun Jin) This abyss was brutal for me to clear. Luckily I was able to buff the main DPS of each team by a pretty significant amount. I cleared Floor 12 Chamber 3 with 0 seconds to spare lol Kinich pulled through big time and Dehya was good enough for breaking that Centaur's shield just off the fact that she's a claymore user that can mitigate damage when he strikes. Overall a challenging abyss. Took me a few hours to clear but I feel accomplished
I think using xiangqiu/yelan instead of yao yao and using full em on dehya would have improved ur time by a mile. Kinich xingqiu Bennett dehya(full em) is a fantastic burgeon comp. Although it could be hard to apply Pyro if u have c6 xingqiu. And instead of kachina u can use someone like layla if u have her cause all enemy on first side are freezable. Or using an off field character like fischl would be very good and offer more strength than kachina cause electro charged teams are best in multi target.
Mualani is low due to how not everybody is a speedrunner. People play the abyss mostly just for the primos. And they just default to their reliable teams to do so, thats why Mualani and Lyney are low. They get godly clears IF you put effort. But majority of players just see Abyss as a way to get primos so regulars just auto to their Neuvillette - Kazuha - Furina - Xilonen and Arlecchino - Benett - Yelan - Zhongli teams.
One note on Mualani, I bet that more people than usual pulled for her because she was the first new limited five star in 5.0, plus she's amazing in overworld. Same thing kinda happened with Lyney in 4.0, plus they both have great performance on paper but some scuff in practice. So that can inflate the ownership rate with more people than just those dedicated Mualani mains, making the usage rate look lower.
11:32 - Ownership rate Actually the opposite is true. Both are below the fold with relatively low ownership, with Mualani slightly below Kinich around 25% and Lyney near the bottom around 15%. The more likely scenario is that most people correctly identified the inherent scuff in their kit and skipped, but some (e.g. me) got suckered in by all the cc "zomg tier 0" glazing FOMO that we against better judgement ignored the screaming red flags and got rightfully punished for picking up a unit destined for the bench.

I see people using more Neuvillete than everything in the game, but when you look at it, their Neuvillete are weaker than Ayato, but they would still play him because people just love to not think, they are addicted to turn off their brains

@@marcusvinicius917 the only power creeping Fontaine did was for any vape teams and some electro aggravate teams. The rest were only powercrept due to the scaling new era characters have. Had cyno been released today he would’ve been better than when was released originally. Same with Eula Itto Ayato or Ayaka. But yeah, ease of use is fine but to crave it (which I’m essentially seeing with the genshin community) is not good for mental stimulation. Play the same games and cycle over and over and people would eventually start to feel dull or see it as a chore. This is if they are more daily players.
i skipped her on my main account because i had neuvillette, but i got her in my second account and she instantly became my main there. my strongest character there too. i'd sack neuv for mualani in a heartbeat if i had to pick. but i'm glad i got her on my second account... she's more useful there. clorinde and raiden, my previous mains, are kinda meh. raiden specially, what a waste of wishes getting her c2. i wish i could get refunds on my wishes wasted on her
in short; as long as neuvillette exists, mualani is doomed, not even in the previous abyss which benefited her more, she was used more than the dragon hydro; perhaps mavuika will save mualani from becoming in lyney hydro, but she could also end up burying mualani if mavuika gives a Neuvillette improves, we will have to wait and see what happens
She doesn't need saving, just let skill issue with low braincells players play whatever they want, it's fine. Everyone who dislike her just stop playing her, and the ones who like will just play her.

The trials don't allow custom made teams, with personal artifacts so it doesn't mean a whole lot when people build their own. Also, I think it was C3 Mualani in the trial
I pulled her because of big pp damage..and then i did get rhe damage i want.. but her burst sometimes ends up not hitting enemies ..her skill can be dodged by enemies who move too much .. lower damage ceiling without Pyro..and we have only xiangling for that...

I skipped Mualani cause I have way too many hydro characters, so I opted for Kinich and was fun clearing the abyss with him. I was surprised he was on the 30% range. Saw so many people saying that they skipped him.
Kinich gave me my first 36* last abyss, and he wasn't even built. Only got 2 good artis on him. His kit is so fun, even if he does rely on benny for now.

Surprised Noelle didn't get a bump since she gets such a huge DEF buff this Abyss. I used her and saw a 117k hit max. Got 65k most of the time. Totally clapped.
Mualani is likely low because of Neuvillette exists and is owned by a huge amount of players. She's both stricter in gameplay and teams, so its really an uphill battle to use her compared to Neuvillette. Honestly doubt pyro archon will improve it unless she specifically buffs Mualani a ton.
Me exactly. No reason to pull Maulani as I would never choose to play her over my C1R1 Neuvillette. Whatever the pyro Archon may do for Maulani, she may also benefit Neuvillette 😅

The last tier list of urs kinda shocked me . Putting mualani above arrlechino is mind-blowing. Genshin players also like a unit that is consistent and clear multiple wave of enemies so no shock there that mualani is that low 😅.
I like Mualani as a character just fine, but I value fun and ease of use over clearing content super quickly. And I don’t enjoy her gameplay or the thought that my burst can miss. So I skipped and pulled Kinich and man, I’ve never had so much fun playing a character. His gameplay is engaging but not complicated, and it’s not boring like Neuvilette. Got my first and second ever 36 star abyss clear with him.
I do regret pulling for mualani, since she is weirdy with setups, requires perfect execution and still sometimes just doesn't work for absolutely no reason.
Everyone says how broken Peak Neuvillette team is but . dumping all s tiers supports to buff up already the best hypercarry is stressful and not feasible, unless you run something very different on the other side of the abyss like Nilou bloom which is not the case for most

I have NEVER regretted pulling for a character as much as mualani. Its anoying to stack the bite, and as far as c0r0 mualani goes, the dmg DOES NOT COMPENSATE the headache of stacking and/or the missing bites. Ive done 36 stars on basically every 4 star char in the game, and tbh i would much rather play Lisa, Amber, Freminet or basically almost every other char instead of playing her.
Closed 12 floor and got all stars with these teams: 1. Tartaglia national 2. Zhongli, Arlecchino, Furina, Kachina. I think Tartaglia got so low not because this abyss is not for him, I didn't feel it, he was great, but because the other best teams in the game uses Kazuha and Bennet, so, basically, he was left without his teammates 😕 hope, Mavuika will help him to get a new good team (and maybe Ororon, because I still remember good old days when Tartaglia’s Taser was great)
I was on the fence and pulled Mualani late despite everyone mentioning the clunkiness. I borrowed her for a few rounds in Imaginarium and didn't think it was that bad. Oops. She has been INFURIATING in daily use on my overworld friendship team. At this point I don't know if I will ever bring her to Abyss, as I just can't be bothered with her shenanigans. I ended up playing hyperbloom + Arle overload. Mash normal and win, that's more my speed. Sorry, not sorry.
The thing still is, if you are lower in level and do have trouble, clearing the fastest way possible IS the only way possible. And those are the people that need guides and tierlists. Comfort just does way better in usage charts bc the people that submit their data for something like this are people who have been playing for years. So by this logic META is different per person and at that point everything falls apart. Comfort is great for those that can afford it
Honestly if your runs still needing that many resets to clear is it even worth running the team. Not so time efficient for a meta team. Slowly regretting my mualani pulls. Gameplay not that fun to play, her inflexibility for team comps, other than natlan exploration I don’t see myself using her ever.
I'd much rather vertically invest in Neuv(C1) than pull Mulani- but my account is still looking for a hardcarry for each element/reaction type given how much Hoyo is prioritizing shields in Abyss. When Mulani came out and I played with her, I just kept thinking blasting someone with a giant water beam was more fun. Yeah, I'm boring, but Neuv rotations just make me happy.
I'm always surprised by Mualani dmg whenever I put her in the team. She's an insane nuke for mid rotation CDs. But Neuvi is just broken. And if not Neuvi, Arle exists. I don't regret her, I just don't have a want or need to play her.
I love using Mualani in domains and in the overworld, but the idea of accidentally wasting her nightsoul points to chase new enemies spawning across the room when I'm trying to clear in time can make her rotation wonky and for me it isn't worth resetting the clock, so I end up not using her because other teams can clear without knowing where and how the enemies are going to spawn. I'm hoping Mavuika replacing Xiangling on the teams that use her may end up solving this problem with hopefully easier and stronger off field dmg
Last abyss I used Mualani. This abyss I don't think Mualani was good enough for any room. I used Knich on both abysses with Emilie, Bennet and Thoma very good and cool.
The only thing I hate about Mualani is her burst! Like it's so annoying and awkward to use even tho they said they buffed her burst and NA, I don't see any improvement especially her burst.
I think the low Mualani usage rate might be due to low investment. If you can 1 rotate, Mualani feel absolutely amazing. However if you can’t, she is just annoying to use with XL especially.
i have mualani and i can't see myself using her. I literally spent all the resin and fragile resin since natlan came out to farm artifacts for her and i don't even have good flower or feather. This domain is absolutely cursed. It doesn't help that she's hard locked to crit dmg circlet which makes it twice as hard to find. Will probably use her regardless when there's pyro applier that doesn't feel clunky with her.
As a Mualani haver who enjoys playing her the reason I didn’t use her in the abyss is because I have Neuvillette and he is just better and easier to use. I know they aren’t similar on paper they have different play styles and you can play them on different sides it’s just that I feel like I’m playing some version of hydro archetype on both sides which gets boring so I play something different on the other side. Considering I want to play just one hydro archetype I will choose neuvi over her in the abyss any day because it’s getting the fastest clear not only in the timer in abyss but also irl (no resets etc) Plus I think their supports also overlap a fair bit. She’s a lot more fun in overworld no doubt but in the abyss I feel like she’s in direct competition with Neuvi and that’s really not a competition she can win

@@mq8337 He can be a bit challenging to play without shield (only in Abyss floor 12 i mean).. but he's fun everywhere else and not difficult to play. His team mates in my account are bennett, xiangling, furina, kazuha, and xilonen (you can also use deyha, zhongli, or tankfei). The rotations/ timing you mentioned might be from people who tried to speedrun or optimize his clear time maybe.
this abyss was pretty hard, maybe one of the hardest. The first half was fine infact pretty easy, I used alhaitham quickbloom with xingqui on the first half and the times were 1:25, 1:00, 56 but the second half was very challenging for me, I used arlecchino, xilonen, bennet, fischl and I could barely clear it, cleared with with 2-3 seconds left on the second chamber, around 6 seconds left on the third chamber The dps check in the first half was also pretty hard, had to switch upto neuvillete, xilonen, kazuha, fischl for the second half of the first chamber (all cO and f2p weapons like pamber, white tassel, HoD. Kazuha has xiphos though). The thing with arlecchino is that she is pretty rewarding if u play her well, dodging and stacking up bol then it feels satisfying to see the number, my arlecchino did around 85k avg, 110k highest at max stacked bol, she has white tassel r5 and artifacts, 85 cr, 200 cdmg, sig set I mean yeah I invested a lot into the artifacts but still it feels rewarding to play.
i have yelan and i used xinqiu instead of her all the time. why would i ever want to use my alhaitham hyperbloom team against the consecrated beasts with yelan when i can have interruption resist and actual comfort
The only inconsistency left in Mualani is if you're casting her burst facing the wall and being close to it. Her NAs track everything, from that water legend girl surfing to charging rifthound.
Mualani just isn’t as mobile friendly and usage rates are based off CN which is a mostly mobile market. Neuvilette is way more mobile friendly. I would love to see usage rates paired with input device (pc/mobile/controller.) I think it would be a better representation of what certain players prefer overall.
I completely agree that Mualani is cracked. She may be better than even Neuvilette in most scenarios, in fact. But she's so damn annoying to play! XL energy issues. Finnicky setups. Abilities occasionally just whiffing. Mobile enemies ruining her rotations. I am becoming a Mualani main out of spite, to prove I can do it, not fun.
I'm glad I didn't pull mualani. everyone talked about what big numbers she could do, but honestly I found her gameplay annoying and I had a lot of strong hydro characters that I found more fun. good decision in the end, I think
Potential reasons why Xilonen has “low” ownership rate: 1. Mauvika 2. The ever so powerful 4 stars Mihoyo paired her with, like DAMN what happened there. 3. New players joining the game in Natlan likely to pick DPS chars first.
I do not know what kind of Chlorinde you need here, probably C2R1, mine is C0 with craftable Fontaine Finale of the Deep and her Overload team does not do much for me.

Do not regret Mualani because her overworld ability and her animation cuteness. In the abyss, she has the highest damage if you can get 3 bites, below other teams if you get 2 bites or less and have to do another rotation... Did you notice that when the large samurai is doing his parry defense move, Mualani's AOE attack doesn't hit him? Very annoying in the last abyss 12-1, and in this abyss, the bird flies... If there is even one chamber that is annoying to play, people aren't gonna use her...
I’m a very new player, AR45, still only have one team though I’m working hard on building a second one. My problem with Mualani is that sometimes she utterly nukes enemies, but other times she just mildly inconveniences them, and I can’t figure out why. It’s usually a bigger difference in damage than should be explainable by just crits. There’s probably something else going on, maybe with resistances, maybe with the pathing on her missile attacks, but it’s so inconsistent that it’s hard to figure out a pattern or learn what to do differently.
I think it also helps to consider some of these characters have way more dedicated fanbases who are going out of their way to use them if they have them like Wriothesley and Sigewinne.
Mualani might be a cute waifu but her competition is Neuvi, so her clunkiness is holding her back regardless of her numbers. While Kinich has competition in Alhaitham, they are different enough to peacefully coexist (as we see in the chart). Alhaitham may be less clunky to play than Kinich but his mechanic is not as "braindead" as Neuvi's, and he's not that strong overall so Kinich has an easier time keeping up. It also helps that Alhaitham and Kinich specialize in different dendro teams. On top of that, you need a bit more investment to make Alhaitham really shine while you need less investment with Kinich to see him doing big numbers.
Mualani needs a better pyro applier and I feel like Nightsoul cosuming so rapidly really makes her unfun to play in abyss. I got Mualani C2 and she's SUPER fun overworld, horrible in actual combat abyss or Theater(probably) where you have a time ticking down. I personally never reset, if i don't 36 stars on the first time then that's as far as i get. and Mualani is, like you said, a waste of time trying to play.

I 36 starred this abyss with TEAM1: Nahida, Nilou, Neuvillette, Baizhu TEAM2: Navia, Bennett, Furina, Xilonen I have Mualani- I'm not sure i regret pulling her, but once i had figured her out and built her, she got sidelined and i don't miss her. so i guess that's a vote for "annoying to use" -interestingly she's in the same boat the Arlecchino is for me. I have my arle built, i just don't like playing her teams. i'll also point out my team 1, has been the same abyss team since i first started using it, 36 staring the abyss for about 6mo now. it's just way too strong to ignore, and it frees up furina for use on my second team. meanwhile team 2 is shockingly strong. seeing navia's shotguns hitting for 450-500k is pretty crazy. really easy team to crush the abyss with.
Mualani absolutely slaps when you have to deal with enemies that do not move to much but when you have bastards that keep jumping around and running from you she's a bit hard to use. She will be back when the abyss will be more favorable for her.
I knew I could win with her but that scorpion was annoying with its rush attack and the bird when it flew up. Good thing Mualani can sometimes pursue during the bite. Had to keep experimenting with Nahida, Kazuha, Yelan, or Zhongli. Go full glass cannon or resist interruption(+petrified to settle them down)? I was so frustrated I forgot which team actually worked. It was probably Yelan, Xiangling, Xilonen.

yes, on my alt account I just run her+Kuki+XQ+ whatever. I even use a level 20 barbara with +20 artifacts for hydro app and I can finish her side of the abyys everytime, not so much the otherside because I lack characters and better artifacts.

It feels like mualani will end up in a similar place to Lyney incredible DPS on paper and in speed runs, but inconsistent or annoying to play. I feel like ranking her above Arlecchino doesn’t make sense based on the reasons you still have Nevilette at the top of the list, ie on sheet dps mattering less than comfort, ease of use, consistency, flexibility, etc.
not really, the difference is that Lyney just needs such tight timings and good RNG while Mualani just appreciates enemies that dont fly or have immunity frames. Mualani's DPS is always sheeted as 3 bites and a burst, and sure, missing 1 bite does lower her DPS by a TON but you dont encounter those situations very much

I don't regret pulling for Mualani, I enjoy her very much. But as you said, she's just too clunky for abyss. I would honestly say that I like her much more for overworld, because she's actually very strong and good there + very easy to traverse landscape.
Mualani has low usage rate for the same reason zhongli has high usage rate, and that's because a lot of people have skill issues and can't play non-braindead characters.
Mualani has the fastest clear times in abyss on all investment levels, she is just harder to use than other on fielders.

Ever since I've got Mualani the game has been an ABSOLUTE breeze for me. I love her design, her voicelines and kit and I personally think she is very fun to play. I nuke bosses I usually had trouble with, can kill groups of enemies within a few seconds and she's just absolutely busted for me and I don't even c1 or have her signature weapon. Personally she is an absolute pull and she is very worth learning. I run her with xilonen, sucrose and xiangling in a vape team.

There are plenty hated using XL for mualani, you need above 250ER and that doesn't guarantee Gouba consistently gets all the hits for particles because there are cases when they move away or even dies before Gouba able to generate enough particle to refund XL.
Speaking as a Mualani haver, I'm absolutely waiting to see what the pyro archon will do for me.
A large amount of Mualani players complain they have trouble getting the third bite out before her nightsoul state runs out. If the pyro archon could extend the duration of nightsoul even just a second or 2 more that already would be a huge help for the casual player

Saying that a unit can speedrun fastest with cracked artifacts does not prove that the character functions better, you need to look at what the character offers on a base level not the ceiling. Now I understand that's a taller task than just comparing numbers, but Genshin is not just about biggest number best numerous things go into, is the rotations smooth, are they easy to execute, does the character functions in a variety of situations and so on

I'm surprised that Chevreuse doesn't see that much use. Arlecchino Overload absolutely brute force stomped every Abyss for me ever since those two characters came out. They're my go-to pick when Neuvillette doesn't work on one side.
Same here, I used an Arl, Beidou, Bennett and Chevreuse team in the second half and it was not too hard to get 36 stars. I think I only struggled a bit on the second floor needing Beidou to break that plunging Geo shield more quickly. Otherwise things were smooth
I think the issue is that many people don't own Chevreuse yet, considering she is a new character and unfortunately tied to Raiden banner.
She has so much teams that are similar in performance with Chev overloaded; if not better; considering having Kazuha who groups + players don’t have Chev C6
I use Raiden (C0R1) Overload, and it’s incredible. Chevreuse is such an outstanding support!

No you don't. Both the geo in the banner aren't good shield breakers. You just need to use a really good claymore user. Unlike other abyss enemies that really force you to pull certain elements otherwise you would have a really bad time. Like Pyro Lectors (hydro), Icewind Suite (pyro), Baptist (dendro).
I would say mualani got a bit of that good ol' eula backlash (missing crits), because you actually lose SO much of your dmg by doing your rotations slightly wrong (missing vapes and/or crits) coupled with the fact using xl bennettless is a complete ER nightmare and the usage rates suddenly makes sense to me.

The fastest recorded run of the topside of this spiral abyss, at the time of writting, is surprisingly not a Mualani vape team (which some players got 14s), but it is instead a Neuvillete Childe Xilonen Chiori team with 13s.
You only need 60% crit on mualani to guarantee crit. Should never use 2pc 2pc on her.

4:58 Mualani is definitely a lot more annoying than Kinich to play. Seems super fun for overworld, but missing the set up seems to be more punishing than it is for other top DPSs because she's so reliant on that nuke damage. Neuvi's more consistent, a lot of people got C1 on his rerun, and he also has self-sustain capabilities that Mualani doesn't have which is an added comfort. This Abyss also is really not catered to her as it is to geo.
Yeah I agree. I don't care if they have different DMG ceilings, at least Kinich will just target the enemy on his own and consistently stay in range.
@@caprichaos Yeah! I think there's annoying clunky things for him too bc sometimes it might not track the enemy if they haven't fully spawned at first (like Magu Kenki before he finishes his startup animation), but once he's locked in he's locked in and usually you don't lose track of your enemy.
Plus if you end up going for his C1 I've seen him do some crazy damage with that 100 CD added to his overall spikecannon damage lol

Hmm i wonder how will the so called second best dps will perform (no hate i just dont like when people overhype units becauss of particular abyss that favour them and as soon as those abyss are gone, behold what happens, its not just about blessing but also the enemies put in the abyss. Also most players would rather have consistency over getting that one perfect run or doing a particular speedrun under particular circumstances and then getting baited into pulling stuff)
I mean this is the case for Mualani, cause a lot of people watch mostly whales pulling her c6r5, shes doing chambers in 3-4seconds, and they think they can do same. Before I get mualani glazers going after me, I agree shes best speedrunner, but thats doesnt result in = best dps or best character. Best character in the game is arguably Furina by a long shot, and best dps as you take a lot of metrics in consideration before you name a character best dps is arguably Neuvillete. I play all of these 3 "best dps" arlecchino,mualani,neuvillete. Neuvillete does not compete in overall speedrun, but blows both of them when it comes to kit wise and the pros he has and almost no con (interrupt resistance at c0 might be a con if you dont run a shield) and kinda thats it.
yup you're so right. CONSISTENT damage is really the most important metric imo for best dps rankings. of course any character can be the best given a situation catered to them, but a character who is great most of the time will always have better pull value than a character who is amazing only once every ten abysses.

I think he's bigger than Bennett. There's a difference between your numbers being lower due to a support change (which can vary depending on carry) and your onfielder just gapping every other one due to ease of use with big returns.
Swapping out a Bennett for a Chevy or Thoma or whatever isn't ideal but doesn't impact your play much. Swapping out a Neuv will literally cause many, many players to be unable to complete full stars in the abyss.
Every hydro carry, regardless of how brokenly strong they are (see: Mualani), will forever be compared to and have the "I already have" Neuv syndrome.
Love Mulani a bunch, but as someone who *hates* using Xiangling, I did feel like I wouldn't really enjoy her until after the pyro archeon showed up. That said, I did find a team for me that works. Not as powerful, obvs, but still very good. It's Mulani/Dehya/Xilonan/Lynette. Because Lynette swirls with pryo after Dehya's e hits Lynette's burst, so Mulani has all the pyro app she needs to vape.
Again, not as strong as if I just used Xiangling, but as someone who doesn't personally find the chef fun, this was a great discovery for me

META - Most EFFECTIVE tactic available
If this chart was made by polling speedrunners Mualani would likely be on top as she is the fastest.
However this is chart for everyday players where most effective means "Minimum effort for maximum result" and that's Neuvillette.
Regular people don't want to reset a bunch of times because of a character with janky gameplay just so they could shave a few seconds off of their clear time if both clear times are under 3 minutes. Most people don't see abyss as a challenge anymore, its just a monthly chore you do for primogems. Me, personally i do it same day it resets in less than 15 minutes, now less than 10 minutes bc they made floors 9 and 10 auto complete (thank god). Why would I, or any other regular player choose to spend an hour on that chore instead, trying to get a slightly better clear time? Not to mention the amount of extra effort you need to put into Mualani compared to Neuvillette to get the same results. Its not very EFFECTIVE if you ask me. Why do y'all keep forgetting what E in META stands for again? If it was just about speed it would be TFTA - The Fastest Tactic Available.
I mean imagine you need to wash the dishes. You have a dishwasher and it will wash 'em in 10 mins for you. But every once in a while, if everything goes right, you can do it manually in 9 minutes. Would you wash your dishes manually every day because you can wash 'em faster than the machine 15% of the days, or would you just use the dishwasher?
I like trying to clear with none meta teams and don't feel like it's still chore. I have a very wide account and will very often reach for an Ayaka or Itto team. This abyss my first full star run was Noelle on one side Itto on the other. I find no enjoyment in only focusing on meta.

Not many are willing to practice with mualani when neuv is right there and he's so much easier to play. I've gotten used to her tho and she's absolutely insane if played well.
Opposite for me, Mualani is fun to play because she's mechanically interesting. Playing Neuvi just makes me fall asleep with how braindead simple it is.
But the majority of Genshin's playerbase is quite casual so stats like this will always be tilted towards what requires the least amount of effort to get the job done.
mualani doesnt teach u anything new, the skills u use to play mualani are the same skils u use to play xiangling childe and other vv vape teams , the only way u dont know how to play mualani is if u have literally never tried using VV before

i think Zhongli really deserves S tier at this point solely because the man has been in the top 70% usage rates of abyss for like 5 years now he doesnt fit the typical definition of broken but when it comes to sheer pull value what more can you ask for than the king of anti-aging doesnt even need a weapon or constellations he just works

For casuals with suboptimal rotations taking 2 or more rotations, or for people who don't spend forever resetting floor 12, Mualani and her entire teams feel cringe to play and set up artifacts/buffs for, which is why she's already benched despite being stronger than Neuvillete

They're just too many problems for mualan now i:
- her gameplay is very clunky especially in mobile
-she is not consistent
-crit fishing
-Xiangling ER
-Complicated setup
-her targeting can often miss&annoying
-if she's not vape the DPS just fall-off a cliff
-basically just need many resets
For speedrun maybe she can be faster, but for most casual players she's just too annoying to play a bit similar to freeze teams that's why cryo DPS are so low in the usage rate, because why you need to freeze them if you just can pumping all the enemy at once with neuvillette
What do you mean by crit fishing? It is actually the opposite, overcapping crit rate is one of her issue because she is one of the easiest character to get 100% crit rate. And her bite missing is fixed, I haven’t miss a single bite since 5.1.
@@kylet1415 first not everyone have a godly artifacts and weapon so its not that easy to overcap, and second even if you reach 80-90% CR its still have a chance to not crit, and because her damage is single nuke the dps lost are massive compares to consistent DPS who have many hits and like i said even if it's crit but the pyro aura aren't there and it's not vape her damage fall-off, unlike navia for example her damage is pure geo without reliant on amplifying reaction so she cares only to crit and in her team xiangling/furina does solid damage unlike in mualani teams where xiangling only focus on ER and without bennet while furina often disturb the pyro aura so mualani will not vape all of her hits which is again massive DPS lost...
@@kazukinoburu With Natlan set, she already has 59.2 crit rate at baseline. You only need ~41 crit rate to get 100%, a single crit rate circlet and 1 sub is already enough. Even if you want to use crit dmg circlet, 40 crit rate sub stat is very easy to achieve, you don’t need godlike artifact for that. If you can’t build a 100% crit Mualani, that’s a build issue, not a character issue.

Based crit rate is 5% + 19% + 40% = 64%.
Just used natlan craftable it was literally given in mail to everyone.
Her supports don't even need good Artifacts. Just slap favonious on everyone and xiangling has 0 er issues. Mine has 199 er only but still gets her burst back every time.

DPS ceiling doesn't really matter as long as your damage is good enough, and comfort will always be the priority. You can see this with how Zhongli's usage rate never drops, especially in teams where people have Neuvilette or Arlecchino-both of them hit hard and don't need much to 36* the abyss. Honestly, I doubt Zhongli's going anywhere even next abyss he's still going to be high, especially now with people running Xilonen as a Kazuha replacement instead of a healer support. Also Mualani is low because of how she plays no matter how much dmg a character can do if the playstyle isn't that intuitive then it will go down in the usage rate.
i have a friend say about mualani that they like her as a character, but absolutely hate her gameplay. It would make sense mualani has less usage rate in relation to her theoretical numbers as majority of the players are casuals so it would tend to where the norm is, and not where the 1% of players are (the try hards, people who actually know how to set-up proper rotations and willing to reset).

honestly its possible she will not buff him as much as others, probably she may buff atk because of her being pyro and other reasons(someone on reddit said why very well but im mind blanking). Id bet she will apply pyro, which will let him do vape which could be crazy but im hoping and honestly guessing they wont put in buffing mechanics that cater to him much more, especially not on mavuika, but i guess we will have to see.
Im thinking she may buff more teams centred around niche(ish) teams like kinich or be a good pyro applicator and buffer for wrio.
I don't think Mavuika will add much to neuvilette, I expect them to work nicely together, but it probably won't be better than his current teams. Each of his supports bring so much to him that I just imagine that adding mavuika and removing one of them won't change much. That's an interesting thought though, i can't wait for her release

C0R1 Mualani haver here. Using Mualani + Dehya C0 with sac + Xiangling C6 with fork +Xilonen C0 with fav.
Very comfortable team for this abbyss. After about 10+ hours of running her in different combats can say that she is much better now with Xilonen and her fixes. She still lacks consistent pyro application, so Mavuika still feels necessary
oh, and I don't use her for ANY enemies that have too much i-frames and even slightly a bit flying above ground, like the "Perpetual Mechanical Array". Mualani can completely miss her nuke attacks on these enemies. +shields are making life very difficult for her.
I’m at the point in my account that I don’t look for the “damage ceiling” when picking teams for abyss. I typically look for comfier teams that get the job done, and that I can casually 36 star on my mobile device
As a f2p I had a really rough time getting 36 stars this time around.
Team 1: Neuvi Furina Kachina Kazuha
Team 2: Kinich Bennett Yao Yao Dehya
I don't have any good/built geo characters (I only have Noelle, Ningguang, Goro and Yun Jin)
This abyss was brutal for me to clear. Luckily I was able to buff the main DPS of each team by a pretty significant amount. I cleared Floor 12 Chamber 3 with 0 seconds to spare lol Kinich pulled through big time and Dehya was good enough for breaking that Centaur's shield just off the fact that she's a claymore user that can mitigate damage when he strikes.
Overall a challenging abyss. Took me a few hours to clear but I feel accomplished
12-3-2 takes too much time without a way to break shields. I would probably replace yaoyao with Ningguang with TTDS(to buff Kinich).
Xiangling + Fischl for overloads instead of dehya + yaoyao would make your clear way easier
I think using xiangqiu/yelan instead of yao yao and using full em on dehya would have improved ur time by a mile.
Kinich xingqiu Bennett dehya(full em) is a fantastic burgeon comp. Although it could be hard to apply Pyro if u have c6 xingqiu.
And instead of kachina u can use someone like layla if u have her cause all enemy on first side are freezable. Or using an off field character like fischl would be very good and offer more strength than kachina cause electro charged teams are best in multi target.
Mualani is low due to how not everybody is a speedrunner. People play the abyss mostly just for the primos. And they just default to their reliable teams to do so, thats why Mualani and Lyney are low. They get godly clears IF you put effort. But majority of players just see Abyss as a way to get primos so regulars just auto to their Neuvillette - Kazuha - Furina - Xilonen and Arlecchino - Benett - Yelan - Zhongli teams.

One note on Mualani, I bet that more people than usual pulled for her because she was the first new limited five star in 5.0, plus she's amazing in overworld. Same thing kinda happened with Lyney in 4.0, plus they both have great performance on paper but some scuff in practice. So that can inflate the ownership rate with more people than just those dedicated Mualani mains, making the usage rate look lower.

Actually the opposite is true. Both are below the fold with relatively low ownership, with Mualani slightly below Kinich around 25% and Lyney near the bottom around 15%.
The more likely scenario is that most people correctly identified the inherent scuff in their kit and skipped, but some (e.g. me) got suckered in by all the cc "zomg tier 0" glazing FOMO that we against better judgement ignored the screaming red flags and got rightfully punished for picking up a unit destined for the bench.

Had cyno been released today he would’ve been better than when was released originally. Same with Eula Itto Ayato or Ayaka.
But yeah, ease of use is fine but to crave it (which I’m essentially seeing with the genshin community) is not good for mental stimulation. Play the same games and cycle over and over and people would eventually start to feel dull or see it as a chore. This is if they are more daily players.

i skipped her on my main account because i had neuvillette, but i got her in my second account and she instantly became my main there. my strongest character there too. i'd sack neuv for mualani in a heartbeat if i had to pick. but i'm glad i got her on my second account... she's more useful there. clorinde and raiden, my previous mains, are kinda meh. raiden specially, what a waste of wishes getting her c2. i wish i could get refunds on my wishes wasted on her

The trials don't allow custom made teams, with personal artifacts so it doesn't mean a whole lot when people build their own. Also, I think it was C3 Mualani in the trial
I pulled her because of big pp damage..and then i did get rhe damage i want.. but her burst sometimes ends up not hitting enemies ..her skill can be dodged by enemies who move too much .. lower damage ceiling without Pyro..and we have only xiangling for that...

I skipped Mualani cause I have way too many hydro characters, so I opted for Kinich and was fun clearing the abyss with him. I was surprised he was on the 30% range. Saw so many people saying that they skipped him.
Kinich gave me my first 36* last abyss, and he wasn't even built. Only got 2 good artis on him. His kit is so fun, even if he does rely on benny for now.

Mualani is likely low because of Neuvillette exists and is owned by a huge amount of players. She's both stricter in gameplay and teams, so its really an uphill battle to use her compared to Neuvillette. Honestly doubt pyro archon will improve it unless she specifically buffs Mualani a ton.
Me exactly. No reason to pull Maulani as I would never choose to play her over my C1R1 Neuvillette. Whatever the pyro Archon may do for Maulani, she may also benefit Neuvillette 😅

The last tier list of urs kinda shocked me . Putting mualani above arrlechino is mind-blowing. Genshin players also like a unit that is consistent and clear multiple wave of enemies so no shock there that mualani is that low 😅.
I like Mualani as a character just fine, but I value fun and ease of use over clearing content super quickly. And I don’t enjoy her gameplay or the thought that my burst can miss.
So I skipped and pulled Kinich and man, I’ve never had so much fun playing a character. His gameplay is engaging but not complicated, and it’s not boring like Neuvilette.

I'd argue it is since a lot of older players pulled for nahida considering how braindead hyperbloom is. Hyperbloom was literally neuvellite before neuvellite came out lol and those teams don't use any of neuv supports, maybe furina but not really

Wdym? Neuv trio buff don't touch any National members, entire dendro rosters, hes broken in feasibility, he works with scuffed team and even in his pre natlan best team, who was in it? Baizhu, furina, kazuha, i never felt stressed build the second half but it probably just me since my acc have good horizontal investment

I have NEVER regretted pulling for a character as much as mualani. Its anoying to stack the bite, and as far as c0r0 mualani goes, the dmg DOES NOT COMPENSATE the headache of stacking and/or the missing bites. Ive done 36 stars on basically every 4 star char in the game, and tbh i would much rather play Lisa, Amber, Freminet or basically almost every other char instead of playing her.
Closed 12 floor and got all stars with these teams:
1. Tartaglia national
2. Zhongli, Arlecchino, Furina, Kachina.
I think Tartaglia got so low not because this abyss is not for him, I didn't feel it, he was great, but because the other best teams in the game uses Kazuha and Bennet, so, basically, he was left without his teammates 😕 hope, Mavuika will help him to get a new good team (and maybe Ororon, because I still remember good old days when Tartaglia’s Taser was great)

Ororon will definitely help. I think pyro archon will also either be a good replacement/side grade for either Bennett or XL.
I was on the fence and pulled Mualani late despite everyone mentioning the clunkiness. I borrowed her for a few rounds in Imaginarium and didn't think it was that bad. Oops.
She has been INFURIATING in daily use on my overworld friendship team. At this point I don't know if I will ever bring her to Abyss, as I just can't be bothered with her shenanigans.
I ended up playing hyperbloom + Arle overload. Mash normal and win, that's more my speed. Sorry, not sorry.

The thing still is, if you are lower in level and do have trouble, clearing the fastest way possible IS the only way possible. And those are the people that need guides and tierlists. Comfort just does way better in usage charts bc the people that submit their data for something like this are people who have been playing for years. So by this logic META is different per person and at that point everything falls apart.
Comfort is great for those that can afford it
Honestly if your runs still needing that many resets to clear is it even worth running the team. Not so time efficient for a meta team.
Slowly regretting my mualani pulls. Gameplay not that fun to play, her inflexibility for team comps, other than natlan exploration I don’t see myself using her ever.
I'd much rather vertically invest in Neuv(C1) than pull Mulani- but my account is still looking for a hardcarry for each element/reaction type given how much Hoyo is prioritizing shields in Abyss.
When Mulani came out and I played with her, I just kept thinking blasting someone with a giant water beam was more fun. Yeah, I'm boring, but Neuv rotations just make me happy.
I'm always surprised by Mualani dmg whenever I put her in the team. She's an insane nuke for mid rotation CDs. But Neuvi is just broken. And if not Neuvi, Arle exists. I don't regret her, I just don't have a want or need to play her.
I love using Mualani in domains and in the overworld, but the idea of accidentally wasting her nightsoul points to chase new enemies spawning across the room when I'm trying to clear in time can make her rotation wonky and for me it isn't worth resetting the clock, so I end up not using her because other teams can clear without knowing where and how the enemies are going to spawn. I'm hoping Mavuika replacing Xiangling on the teams that use her may end up solving this problem with hopefully easier and stronger off field dmg
Last abyss I used Mualani. This abyss I don't think Mualani was good enough for any room.
I used Knich on both abysses with Emilie, Bennet and Thoma very good and cool.

Kinich is very good. He is for sure in the top 5 of dps. When pyro archon and traveler comes out he will be number 2 or 3

Mualani is fun to play. She is on my exploration team. The reason I dont use her in the abyss is becos of the big don, Neuvilliete.
Yeah I gotta be honest, I regret getting Mualani a bit. It's on an alt account so it's not that bad, but I find her really awkward to use.
The only thing I hate about Mualani is her burst! Like it's so annoying and awkward to use even tho they said they buffed her burst and NA, I don't see any improvement especially her burst.
And it's confusing how Sigewinne is a bit higher than Mualani.
I think the low Mualani usage rate might be due to low investment. If you can 1 rotate, Mualani feel absolutely amazing. However if you can’t, she is just annoying to use with XL especially.
i have mualani and i can't see myself using her. I literally spent all the resin and fragile resin since natlan came out to farm artifacts for her and i don't even have good flower or feather. This domain is absolutely cursed. It doesn't help that she's hard locked to crit dmg circlet which makes it twice as hard to find. Will probably use her regardless when there's pyro applier that doesn't feel clunky with her.
Just tried to use her on abyss 12, i haven't had troubles scoring 36* ever since 2020 but it seems impossible to do it with her lol

As a Mualani haver who enjoys playing her the reason I didn’t use her in the abyss is because I have Neuvillette and he is just better and easier to use. I know they aren’t similar on paper they have different play styles and you can play them on different sides it’s just that I feel like I’m playing some version of hydro archetype on both sides which gets boring so I play something different on the other side. Considering I want to play just one hydro archetype I will choose neuvi over her in the abyss any day because it’s getting the fastest clear not only in the timer in abyss but also irl (no resets etc) Plus I think their supports also overlap a fair bit. She’s a lot more fun in overworld no doubt but in the abyss I feel like she’s in direct competition with Neuvi and that’s really not a competition she can win
Something is truly wrong. I just got 36 stars without Xilonen. Without Neuvillette. No Navia. No Chiori. Yeah, I used Furina, Zhongli and Kazuha :)

Is he difficult to play? I’m thinking of pulling for him but I keep seeing ppl say his rotations require strict timing and whatnot. I’m not too fussed if he’s not a top tier DPS - I’m more worried abt how annoying he would be to play
@@mq8337 He can be a bit challenging to play without shield (only in Abyss floor 12 i mean).. but he's fun everywhere else and not difficult to play. His team mates in my account are bennett, xiangling, furina, kazuha, and xilonen (you can also use deyha, zhongli, or tankfei). The rotations/ timing you mentioned might be from people who tried to speedrun or optimize his clear time maybe.
I've told them that Mualani were inconsistent before, but they mad for no reason
this abyss was pretty hard, maybe one of the hardest. The first half was fine infact pretty easy, I used alhaitham quickbloom with xingqui on the first half and the times were 1:25, 1:00, 56 but the second half was very challenging for me, I used arlecchino, xilonen, bennet, fischl and I could barely clear it, cleared with with 2-3 seconds left on the second chamber, around 6 seconds left on the third chamber The dps check in the first half was also pretty hard, had to switch upto neuvillete, xilonen, kazuha, fischl for the second half of the first chamber (all cO and f2p weapons like pamber, white tassel, HoD. Kazuha has xiphos though). The thing with arlecchino is that she is pretty rewarding if u play her well, dodging and stacking up bol then it feels satisfying to see the number, my arlecchino did around 85k avg, 110k highest at max stacked bol, she has white tassel r5 and artifacts, 85 cr, 200 cdmg, sig set I mean yeah I invested a lot into the artifacts but still it feels rewarding to play.
i have yelan and i used xinqiu instead of her all the time. why would i ever want to use my alhaitham hyperbloom team against the consecrated beasts with yelan when i can have interruption resist and actual comfort

The only inconsistency left in Mualani is if you're casting her burst facing the wall and being close to it. Her NAs track everything, from that water legend girl surfing to charging rifthound.
Mualani just isn’t as mobile friendly and usage rates are based off CN which is a mostly mobile market. Neuvilette is way more mobile friendly.
I would love to see usage rates paired with input device (pc/mobile/controller.) I think it would be a better representation of what certain players prefer overall.
I completely agree that Mualani is cracked. She may be better than even Neuvilette in most scenarios, in fact. But she's so damn annoying to play! XL energy issues. Finnicky setups. Abilities occasionally just whiffing. Mobile enemies ruining her rotations. I am becoming a Mualani main out of spite, to prove I can do it, not fun.

I'm glad I didn't pull mualani. everyone talked about what big numbers she could do, but honestly I found her gameplay annoying and I had a lot of strong hydro characters that I found more fun. good decision in the end, I think
Potential reasons why Xilonen has “low” ownership rate:
1. Mauvika
2. The ever so powerful 4 stars Mihoyo paired her with, like DAMN what happened there.
3. New players joining the game in Natlan likely to pick DPS chars first.

I do not know what kind of Chlorinde you need here, probably C2R1, mine is C0 with craftable Fontaine Finale of the Deep and her Overload team does not do much for me.
Mine did a pretty good job at C0 with The Black Sword from Battle Pass. (Well I was using C6 Chevreuse which is a pretty massive upgrade I guess)

Just use Raiden for overload. Clorinde will feel lackluster if you don't use aggravate.

Do not regret Mualani because her overworld ability and her animation cuteness.
In the abyss, she has the highest damage if you can get 3 bites, below other teams if you get 2 bites or less and have to do another rotation...
Did you notice that when the large samurai is doing his parry defense move, Mualani's AOE attack doesn't hit him? Very annoying in the last abyss 12-1, and in this abyss, the bird flies... If there is even one chamber that is annoying to play, people aren't gonna use her...

I’m a very new player, AR45, still only have one team though I’m working hard on building a second one.
My problem with Mualani is that sometimes she utterly nukes enemies, but other times she just mildly inconveniences them, and I can’t figure out why. It’s usually a bigger difference in damage than should be explainable by just crits. There’s probably something else going on, maybe with resistances, maybe with the pathing on her missile attacks, but it’s so inconsistent that it’s hard to figure out a pattern or learn what to do differently.
Mualani is a pain in the ass to use she's so inconsistent, and a majority of players are not the type who want to reset over and over again.
I think it also helps to consider some of these characters have way more dedicated fanbases who are going out of their way to use them if they have them like Wriothesley and Sigewinne.
Mualani might be a cute waifu but her competition is Neuvi, so her clunkiness is holding her back regardless of her numbers. While Kinich has competition in Alhaitham, they are different enough to peacefully coexist (as we see in the chart). Alhaitham may be less clunky to play than Kinich but his mechanic is not as "braindead" as Neuvi's, and he's not that strong overall so Kinich has an easier time keeping up. It also helps that Alhaitham and Kinich specialize in different dendro teams. On top of that, you need a bit more investment to make Alhaitham really shine while you need less investment with Kinich to see him doing big numbers.
Mualani needs a better pyro applier and I feel like Nightsoul cosuming so rapidly really makes her unfun to play in abyss. I got Mualani C2 and she's SUPER fun overworld, horrible in actual combat abyss or Theater(probably) where you have a time ticking down. I personally never reset, if i don't 36 stars on the first time then that's as far as i get. and Mualani is, like you said, a waste of time trying to play.
I have C2 Mualani too. If you aren't killing everything in this top side with 1 hit it means you fucked up somewhere.

I have Mualani- I'm not sure i regret pulling her, but once i had figured her out and built her, she got sidelined and i don't miss her. so i guess that's a vote for "annoying to use"
-interestingly she's in the same boat the Arlecchino is for me. I have my arle built, i just don't like playing her teams.
i'll also point out my team 1, has been the same abyss team since i first started using it, 36 staring the abyss for about 6mo now. it's just way too strong to ignore, and it frees up furina for use on my second team. meanwhile team 2 is shockingly strong. seeing navia's shotguns hitting for 450-500k is pretty crazy. really easy team to crush the abyss with.
I main Neuvillette and did not pull Maulani as felt I had no use for her anyway. Did pull Kinich and Xilonen though…
