ZMA calls for review of laboratory services in hospitals

The Zambia Medical Association ZMA has called for a systematic review of laboratory services in hospitals.
ZMA President ROY KAUMBA says there is need to ensure adequate allocation towards laboratory inputs.
Dr. KAUMBA says the largest referral hospital, UTH in Lusaka cannot conduct basic full blood count and chemistry investigation because of limited inputs.
Speaking during a media briefing, Dr. KAUMBA also said the hospital should always have functional CT scan and MRI equipment.
He said currently, the hospital depends on such equipment at the Cancer Diseases Hospital.
