My dad used to have this on vinyl, and he listened to a cassette version in the car. I remember hearing it as a kid. And then I started to grow up, and had less and less time for God, and more and more time to resent my dad for stupid, trivial things. And then one day, God touched my heart and brought me back. Now this song has so much meaning to me, and I'm so glad my dad introduced me to it way back when.
Oh my life! I am hearing you loud and clear. Described the old me down pat. Today though like you, I get it. He's just been waiting on us knowing full well tiny seeds were sown way back when. No matter how much we suppressed or snuffed out what we called the trivial things in our lives at the time. LOL boy was I wrong. My God reigns.
My Dad also used to have a leather cassette holder with that old white dove sticker flying under the rainbow, and he would embarrass me by praising The Almighty with all his heart and now I've become him. I didn't truly understand God's love for us until I became a dad and realized just how hard it must have been and how much He loves to send His only begotten Son to save us. Praise Jesus Christ!
Bless the Lord! I say Bless the name of JESUS!!! The anointing on this psalm is POWERFUL!! Welcome back oh welcome back!!! Glory! You yea you welcome back to Jesus!!! Glory to God !!!

I am 21. My younger siblings and I grew/growing up with Love Song and others like Keith Green. To me, there is not much that can come close to the oldies. The lyrics meant something. It has a beauty that is so clean and untouchable.
This album was the number 7 selling Christian album of all time so I read. I was there at the time. Every Christian I knew seemed to have it. I have seen them perform live a number of times. They were very serious yet joyous. The atmosphere in their concerts was....anointed. Ahh the Jesus Revolution, saved Hippies, we ate out after church and we talked about.....The Lord.
You are so right about the power of God.When you are chosen to receive it at that point in life,God was there at the perfect time.Yes, i pray the young people will have the same power of God fall upon them as we did.
I love this beautiful song and I fully grasp and understand the lyrics. Totally meaningful and relatable to me. It gets me choked up every time I’m listen to this song.
Welcome back Christian, to the things you always believed in! Thank you Lord Jesus, for NEVER leaving or forsaking us! The 4:11 mark melts my heart! Just so heavenly inspired and beautiful! A taste of things to come, that the ear has not heard of, eyes have not seen, nor the heart imagined! Ephesians 2:8-9.
Fantastic!A time of purity and revival, i was 15 and traveled with church youth group from Park Av, Baptist in Titusville Fl. to Explo 72 the Jesus Explosion at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas Tx a week long conferance at several churches with 50,000 coming each day to the stadium.Love Song was there that week we worshiped with their songs many yrs after and in the wee hours of this morning 7/30/17 at 2am i was just now led to seek them out again to refresh my spirit while here in isolation alone at a much older age but still looking to God.Back then we were also called Jesus freaks.. far out man,im still one.yeah!!! through faith we have crossed over from death to LIFE!! ..Jesus Matthew 5:24
i first heard Love Song back in the early 70's at a Christian coffee house when i was in my early teens. Someone gave me a cassette copy. I loved it then and still listen to it because the music is timeless and ultimately edifying! i soon got a vinyl copy at a Christian book store (i still have it!!!) . Over 20 years ago i graduated to the cd version i bought at another Christian book store. My wife, who was also a Christ-follower in the early 70's, still listens to both of their albums (LOVE SONG< FINAL TOUCH) with me almost daily on the mp3 player connected to our TV. Our kids were also brought up on their music and so many other great musicians, which was what was called Jesus Music back in the 70's. The messege of both their albums (LOVE SONG & FINAL TOUCH) still moves us to this day, because it's the message of the live-changing Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ!!!!!
I was like you in 1973 i got saved and got the baptism in the Holy Ghost at a revival tent meeting. They were a bunch of old Hippies that had got saved and were traveling from city to city witnessing on the streets by day and having meetings at night. They were called Christ is the Answer crusades.
Our Church used to have "LOCK--INS." Those were times that started around 10:00 PM...They would gather everybody into the sanctuary... Everyone was supposed to be there inside around ,11:00 PM, because after that they were gonna lock the doors from the outside, and after that time, nobody could get IN,...If you weren't there by 11:00 PM, too bad...!!! We prayed most of the night...It was led by different Pastors...Around 7:00 AM, they would unlock the doors and people could leave on Saturday morning...This was a serious commitment...People didn't fool around in that Church...,Most of us were in our twenties, we were able to stay up all night and pray, so there was no problem...The way the world was going at that time, a lot of us didn't think we would see our thirtieth birthdays... That's why we weren't against praying for such a long time...We were thinking, "Maybe tomorrow I will meet the Lord.".......
Went forward at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in '75. Although having been raised a Boomer Catholic, the kind of Jesus found in the Jesus Movement was immensely compelling. In fact, I saw many fellow former Catholics from Long Beach at Calvary quite often. Those years where thousands and thousands of people came to Jesus were truly a miracle of the Holy Spirit.
One of the most disarming songs ever written. As good today as it was in 70's... Thanks Calvary Chapel for what you did. There were plenty of us thousands of miles away from California who relied on this type of music as a replacement to what we heard everywhere.
I was a part of that movement from the 70's. I had their first album and I am thankful for the part Chuck Smith had in bringing these guys full circle in the Jesus Movement...wow, what fantastic, precious memories. Brings tears again to my eyes...Miss those Saturday night concerts at Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa..and the Maranatha Concerts at Knott's Berry Farm...
Yes, it really did happen. People everywhere were running to Jesus. The Holy Spirit was strong in so many places, and God used Love Song to display his love for us. We will meet again Chuck, one day.
Are you happen to have met these guys a couple of times back in the seventies and then the near reunions at the Sagemont church here in Houston and they're really bring back memories plus help me to stand firm in Jesus you really loves us all and he proved it thank you so much chuck Jay Bob and try to remember Tommy Combs and the drummer Robert anyway God bless you guys
This band is my favorite of the many good ones that arose out of the Jesus Movement. That took place, for me, in Jax Beach, FL. LPs were the leading mode of recording and selling in those days. Everyone one of the albums I bought from those years, I still have in my collection.

Just listening to all the music the group love song made me go back in a different time I always felt this group was a head of there time and still today I have the record and listen to it like it was yesterday my soul sores with each beat and tuned of this music and God seems everyday a little closer I would like to dedicate this music to my two sons Racy and misael because they grew up listening to it and they grew to appreciate it too
I like this album, it's at the time of the "Jesus Movement, " it's the song of rawness of the time when God of his movement.. I also like the sound of the pureness of the 60's and 70's times..
Chuck and I were close friends I had a Christian band and we met playing at the same school auditorium. For some reason chuck and his lead player got left so they got in my car and we drove to the next auditorium. I believe God planned it that way He was a wonderful person the real deal! By the time we arrived at the next.place to play we were fast friends forever I'll never forget that day in 1973 Houston Texas A landmark time in my Christian life
What a welcoming home song that shows our saviors heart to anyone, His arms are open wide to welcome you back home, don't wait you have nothing to lose! I saw these guys again a few years ago up in N. Idaho at the kootenai fairgrounds, still sound as great as ever.
I first saw Love Song in Kansas City 1977 or 78 and not knowing anything about them or Calvary Chapel and or the "Jesus" music found the music so assuring and I like to listen when I drive backseat . Thanks for your music
I love the song welcome back.i was around 13 and my brother gave me this cassette.i remembered the tune and all I kept singing was welcome back.i couldn't get the next line. I sang it over and over in my head for years then wow I found it 38 years later. Finally I played the song.wow made me cry.i sent it to my brother Danny who is 13 years older than me. and he said yes that's the song.i love it.all of it.i remembered the guitar.beautiful music.38 years later.everytime I hear it I think and cry.beautiful song.GOD BLESS. Thank You for such an uplifting song. I resigned from a ministry at what I thought would be my home church. It was not to be. Yesterday was difficult because there were a lot of broken people looking forward to gourmet meals that I prepared with the love of Christ in my heart. Today I resolved to spend quiet time with The Lord. Received an unexpected call from on of the volunteers. A true Christian gentleman who offered up encouragement. Then I find this album on youtube. Thank You Lord, you are true to your word. You will provide what we need when we need it. I am now ready for a nice long walk. I will spend time with The Lord, And He will lift my broken spirit. Hallelujah.
Bringing back so many wonderful memories! Thank you Chuck Smith for promoting this group and for your wonderful work for the LORD! I heard "Love Song" in Wichita, KS in the winter of 72-73. What a great night! Remember it like it was last night! This album was a great coming together of the Spirit of the Lord with great musicians and it is technically better and the musicality is better than anything done at the time!
Stephen, I wore the vinyl "Final Touch" out ~ so appreciate being able to access here on my desktop ~ doing a reach-back in time, and their music means even more to me now than ever [if that is even possible] I'm 64 now.
This is such a pleasant song by Love Song... what super memories from Chuck Smith's Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa California... RIP Chuck: June 25, 1927 October 3, 2013

Great Testimony. Great song and Group. I was first introduced to "Love Song" right after I was Saved on 18 January 1975. I was a 19 yr old United States Marine on Okinawa. I started going to the "Teen Challenge" in Kosa City Okinawa. We played this album all the time.
@@usmc-veteran73-77 Yes brother,Teen Challenge was very involved with us too! I read the Cross and the Switchblade and Run Baby Run so many times the Pastor got after me for not reading the Bible more than those books! Lol,bless you as we walk toward the Lamb!
@@freddyreyes5335 after I was saved (18 Jan 75) I spent a lot of time at the Teen Challenge. On Okinawa there was a lot of 17, 18, 19 teenagers and older Marines from all over Okinawa plus Kadena AFB had a lot of young people too. The Teen Challenge did a great job keeping us involved. Great Bible Studies, music, board games and snacks; which we could never get enough to eat. So thankful for David Wilkerson.
Thank you to Ted and Helen Moreland for introducing Marian and I to Love Song in the early 70's. This was a new sound for worship, Chuck Smith and Calvary Chapel were a fresh blessing for us Presbyterians.
Jesus my Weeping song of sighing your light rest upon my eyes up in mount zion my refreshing ancient of days Jesus I am amazed at the way you removed the haze and removed the scales where I could hear your new song
Brother- don't be so quick to dismiss the contemporary scene of today. The question is whether it ministers to the hearts of the culture listening to it. I'm glad that groups like Love Song set the stage for today. From what I've seen, individuals like Lecrae, Gungor, Tenth Avenue North, John Mark McMillan, etc. do a fantastic job of drawing the youth of today musically into a place where they are willing to look seriously at the spiritual issues addressed in their music. ...
This album/song played a big part into me being Born Again. 18 Jan 75, on Okinawa with the USMC. Keystone Church of the Nazarene and Teen Challenge in old Kosa City.
I used to hear this dong in the spanish version with paulino bernal i was 13 years old this song has been in my spirit ever since i recently searched it with the love somg wsy before the movie from cakvary chapel when I heard in the movie I got excited I said I know who that is I told my son that’s the love song
While at the University of North Texas, my first girlfriend Serena and I were invited to play Putt Putt Golf with two other couples and we would go to Serena's house to listen to music that had artistic, vocal, instrumental and harmonious value. Serena told me to keep this Chuck Girard Love Song album because she had a new copy that someone gave her for her birthday. I still have that album and I like most all the songs on both sides of this album because the instrumentation and vocals are superb and they convey hope, longing, serenity, appreciation and probably so many spiritual things that go above our ability to comprehend as we all live in a world that continues to unwittingly breed so much hate in so many ways. This is considered the First Christian Rock Band and the first Christian music genre this first album still remains timeless. But I confess that I like it because, when I was a child, I personally met Chuck Girard and his band when they visited and stayed at my friend's big 11 room house (Mansion to me) and they had lots of space for their giant bus and trailer. Other great songs from this album I loved was Tinagera (Sounds so much like The Beach Boys), Little Country Church, Sometimes Aleluia (Second Chapter of Acts are the backup Vocals) and A Love Song. It seems that all of Humanity, from the wealthy class, black and white and in between, any religion or background, becomes "ENSLAVED" to so many material things by the act of possessing. In our current time of 2018, we have so much increased turmoil around the world and it is still magnified by our high-tech communications and social media and this accelerates the divisiveness, polarisation, and mental and spiritual stress. I love science and maths because they are fixed, known (to an empirical degree), and our solutions should easily be made with logic and reason. But it can be frightening knowing how any religion or the practice of religion has become demonised as everyone becomes so cynical, critical, distrusting, angry and determined to destroy them all as Humanity continues to find replacement religions such as American Football, stripe clubs, baseball, basketball, dish antennae or cable, legal recreational drugs (alcohol, tobacco, dip (?), chewing tobacco, beer) or illegal recreational drugs (heroin, meth, cocaine, all types of narcotic pills, marijuana, etc.), and so many DISTRACTIONS like the iPhone. Oh well. Today, all of Humanity (especially Americans) have succumbed to the recent inventions which were created out of NOTHING but intentionally created and designed to ATTRACT and LOCK IN the "Addictive Nature and Habits" of Americans so that they are financially committed each month to pay for that iPad, iPhone, Cable, Satellite, Dish Antennae) and these Americans will unwittingly become impoverished as they will not be able to save for their retirement and shout in disbelief that the time has flown by so fast. Amazing how music has an impact on us all, at least for me it truly does, and especially with powerful and meaningful lyrics that are poetic and that transcend time and elevate us spiritually. I did not mean to go this long in my comments for just announcing the beauty of this artist Chuck Girard but I did get infected with his music when Serena introduced me to his music. Oh well. Back to my job search. It is a pathetic time we live in when all employees for even reputable companies are really just DISPOSABLE employees. But we still have to have faith. Good Shabbos my dear Academes.
Yes we all have memories of this song and group. I was first introduced to "Love Song" around January 1975. I was a 19 year old United States Marine on Okinawa. I spent my evenings at the "Teen Challenge" in Kosa City Okinawa. Listening to this album a lot. Love every "Love Song" song.

After I was Saved I to went to the Teen Challenge in Kosa City Okinawa a lot and this is where I first heard of "Love Song"

This is so beautiful, the words, the singers, it brings back dome happiness to my heart. ❤
Beautiful piece... reminds me of my first love in the Lord Jesus. Glory to god.
This Worship Music takes me back to when I met My First Love, Jesus Christ in tje Summer of '74.
I was saved also in the summer of 74 - listening to this song now touches my heart the same as when I first heard it.
It's amazing how God sings to us
Thank you so much Kip. I love this so much
Pray God will send his Spirit nationwide one more time while we're still here to witness it
One of the most disarming songs ever written. As good today as it was in 70's...
Thanks Calvary Chapel for what you did. There were plenty of us thousands of miles away from California who relied on this type of music as a replacement to what we heard everywhere.
Thanks and God Bless you brother, I too am a guitar player. Keep on jammin'
Chuck has not passed away. I was just at his website and read his itinerary for 2016!
this may be the best "random" selection google has ever picked for me
lol!!! lve this song
That makes me so happy for you!❤🙏👍
Are you happen to have met these guys a couple of times back in the seventies and then the near reunions at the Sagemont church here in Houston and they're really bring back memories plus help me to stand firm in Jesus you really loves us all and he proved it thank you so much chuck Jay Bob and try to remember Tommy Combs and the drummer Robert anyway God bless you guys
NO COINCIDENCES MY FRIEND! Lol! Stay blessed...
I loved the Music of Love Song. When they were on tour I was just a new Christian.
Wonderful...I was really blessed by those guys and your truthful tesimony, James Lewis! Toby Jouhansen Sweden
This band is my favorite of the many good ones that arose out of the Jesus Movement. That took place, for me, in Jax Beach, FL. LPs were the leading mode of recording and selling in those days. Everyone one of the albums I bought from those years, I still have in my collection.
Bruh just found this banger right here man blasting it in 2021 waiting for our Lord and Savior Hallelujah my King my Peace ✌️ God Loves you :) Thank you 107.9 worship Radio is where I heard the Beautiful words speaking to me while I was driving .
Can't believe I missed this song but I love it and can't stop listening to it
Just listening to all the music the group love song made me go back in a different time I always felt this group was a head of there time and still today I have the record and listen to it like it was yesterday my soul sores with each beat and tuned of this music and God seems everyday a little closer I would like to dedicate this music to my two sons Racy and misael because they grew up listening to it and they grew to appreciate it too
I like this album, it's at the time of the "Jesus Movement, " it's the song of rawness of the time when God of his movement.. I also like the sound of the pureness of the 60's and 70's times..
Chuck and I were close friends I had a Christian band and we met playing at the same school auditorium. For some reason chuck and his lead player got left so they got in my car and we drove to the next auditorium. I believe God planned it that way
He was a wonderful person the real deal! By the time we arrived at the next.place to play we were fast friends forever
I'll never forget that day in 1973 Houston Texas
A landmark time in my Christian life
Great tunes,great times,great memories,always welcomed !
What a welcoming home song that shows our saviors heart to anyone, His arms are open wide to welcome you back home, don't wait you have nothing to lose! I saw these guys again a few years ago up in N. Idaho at the kootenai fairgrounds, still sound as great as ever.
The high notes are magnificent, and rest is very lush.
I first saw Love Song in Kansas City 1977 or 78 and not knowing anything about them or Calvary Chapel and or the "Jesus" music found the music so assuring and I like to listen when I drive backseat . Thanks for your music
Its 68 again and it was beautiful.
I love the song welcome back.i was around 13 and my brother gave me this cassette.i remembered the tune and all I kept singing was welcome back.i couldn't get the next line. Jesus movement music is so great!!!
Right on!
I'm a teenager again and I remember how much they meant to me.
Me too. Takes me back to playing this album on my turn table back in 1977. What precious memories. Praise be to the Lord!
Chuck has not passed away. I was just on his website and read his itinerary for 2016.
+Tom Anderson chuck passed away oct 2013 after a long fight with lung cancer. He wouldnt appreciate being yanked back down out of Christ's presence Tom
I was referring to Chuck Girard former lead singer for Love Song. I know now you were referring to Pastor Chuck Smith.
Not sure he's resting.. he was a high Mason.
Chuck Girard loves Jesus more than music and life itself. Same guy today serving Jesus as he was in the 70's. God Bless you Chuck
Filled with Holy Spirit fall of 1972 .
My brother was in a band called Liberation Suite that toured with Christ is the Answer back in 1973.
So Beautiful!
A great song from by-gone years :)
Thank you Jesus for these awesome hippies and for chuck and Kay letting them in God’s house 🏠 I love them so much
I had this song and "Think About What Jesus Said" on a record "album" in the 1970's.......
Great today as much as it was back then....
The Jesus Movement wow what a time we had in the Lord, got saved in 1973 started Jesus Mettings in my hometown of Weslaco Texas and meettings grew by leaps and bounds and many kids were saved.Critics said it was just a fad,its been a long fad because we are still on fire for the Lord 43 yrs. Later!
Great Testimony. Great song and Group. I was first introduced to "Love Song" right after I was Saved on 18 January 1975. I was a 19 yr old United States Marine on Okinawa. I started going to the "Teen Challenge" in Kosa City Okinawa. We played this album all the time.
@@usmc-veteran73-77
Yes brother,Teen Challenge was very involved with us too!
Nice nice music. Thanks
some of the best music from any era ✌
Thank you to Ted and Helen Moreland for introducing Marian and I to Love Song in the early 70's. This was a new sound for worship, Chuck Smith and Calvary Chapel were a fresh blessing for us Presbyterians.
What a great album. And what great times we had at Catonsville Community College.
Jesus my
Weeping song of sighing your light rest upon my eyes up in mount zion my refreshing ancient of days Jesus I am amazed at the way you removed the haze and removed the scales where I could hear your new song
Simply beautiful.
I was there!!
Praise Jesus
Amazing, Amazing!
The freshness of the anointing is amazing!
Beautiful

Good song memories
How did I miss it? The message is so good.
Thanks to Judi for suggesting it!!
I like hippie music
A Very Special Time
Yes we all have memories of this song and group. I was first introduced to "Love Song" around January 1975. I was a 19 year old United States Marine on Okinawa. I spent my evenings at the "Teen Challenge" in Kosa City Okinawa. Listening to this album a lot. Love every "Love Song" song.
USMC 73-77 I saw them in Concert live three times; the Holy Spirit moved in and it was Amazing!
@@ronaldcates5760 Praise GOD. This album got me through some tough times back in January 1975. I was in the United States Marine Corps on Okinawa. North Vietnam had just broken the Peace Treaty and invaded South Vietnam. We were the closest Marine Division to Saigon. So I knew if we went into combat I would die and go to hell. After I was Saved I to went to the Teen Challenge in Kosa City Okinawa a lot and this is where I first heard of "Love Song"
We didn't have this on the East Coast.
The earlier post was really from my grand parents Ray & Marian Sandbek who lived in Los Angeles in the 70's
awesome song for cindy and mike 40 years
Welcome back
awesom
Awesome.......
The folk pieces have elements of Simon and Garfunkel harmonies.
✨Welcome back
Welcome back
Welcome back
Welcome back
Welcome back to the things that you once believed in
Welcome back to what you knew was right from the start
All you had to do was to be what you always have wanted to be
Welcome back to the love that is in your heart
I know that you thought you could turn your back
And no one could see in your mind
But I can see that you know better now
You never were the untruthful kind
Yeah, and I'm so happy now to welcome you back
Wooo-ahaa, ahhh-hah-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh
Wooo-ahaa, ahhh-hah-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh
Sometimes you just don't know what you're missin'
'Til you leave it for awhile
Woooh-Welcome back
Welcome back
Welcome back, (Welcome back to Jesus)
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Welcome back✨
