I was in CM a few weeks ago and I thought the city was in a bad way. A drive around the moat road and you see so many (50%+ shuttered businesses). Thae Pae road is a similar story. A walk through the night bazaar….well, it is hard to believe it was a night bazaar as there were so few stalls. There was a new area that had plenty of food stalls and that did look good and vibrant. The old inside night bazaar (the one with green shutters) had only 1 stall open at 9pm. The rest were nearly all for rent. CM definitely isn’t dead but lots of well known and established businesses have closed for good. It is hard to see how it is going to recover quickly.
@@Iceyfire12 Right now if someone asked me whether they should visit CM I would probably advise against it. I really hope that changes as the CM I first visited in 1993 was a fantastic place.

Wat is a name in thai. That is all. It means temple complex or monastery. Eg shoalin temple in china. A stupa is similar to candi. Candi is used in buddhism and hinduism. They can be stone temples or places to store remains of important people eg priest or kings. As far as i know, stupas (smaller than candi) were used to store buddha's relics or remains as requested by him before he passed away 2500 years ago.
Some people want to turn Thailand into a vast Protestant church and in a Muslim mosque.and they have deserted everything with zero fun. There is no comparison with our beloved Bangkok. Unfortunately, Thailand was spoiled by Europeans who were complacent with what they saw and returned to their homelands impressed. I wouldn't change Bangkok for anything, I love it.
This is the difference between a pagoda and a temple. Pagoda (Chedi) in Buddhism is a building that is worshiped by Buddhists. Inside often contain valuable spiritual things such as the Buddha's relics. , Bones of the King or important person, amulets, etc. The temple is the residence of monks in Buddhism. It is a religious ceremony. Therefore, beware of acts that disrespect the pagodas and temples. Because Buddhists will oppose that action.
The bike shop may not have needed a passport, BUT if you are supposed to show that you have a current motor cycle license/international drivers/riders permit otherwise they cannot be legally renting bikes to you. Bike shops renting out bikes without siting a current license/IDP are putting tourists at risk of being fined and if they have an accident having insurance companies deny claims due to no license or helmet. So if you intend renting a motor bike do not do so without a license. So many get caught out . Far too many rent motor bikes without a license and with little or no experience riding a motor bike and it ends up costing them big time.
In this case it had nothing to do with our licence! It was because it was parked in the wrong area during the wrong time… but the sign wasn’t clear at all. 🤷🏼♀️

Gautama buddha already mentioned 2500 years ago that he was the final reincarnation. No more buddha on earth after him. Of course the universe is big. There are other worlds and other buddhas. He can see his past lives and also ascend to heavens. His father knew he was a special child.
Don't park your vehicle where red and white are labeled beside the road. you'll be fined. Sorry for that guys and thanks for your politeness . I see some foreigners ride without helmets which is against the traffic law and many of them seem to take advantage of the police who don't stop those foreigner because they can't speak English. I ,whenever see this , would tell the police to stop the foreigners who voilate the law. We understand that some Europeans intend to pretend not to abide by law.

7-8 November, Lantern Floating and Loy-kra-tong Festival in Chiangmai. 👍👍👍
Oh yes so lovely! We saw it last year - this year we will miss it because our visa runs out 😅🥲

Great late morning coffee 👊
And so many beautifull places to see in Chiang Mai, enjoy and thanks for sharing 🙏
Funny that you didn't run into Chai, my fellow Dutch guy who is a UA-camr making many vlogs from his base Chiang Mai 🤔 well who knows you will run into him and his girlfriend one day 😊
Kaw Soi is one off the best foods 😋
And as always, C Ya in the next one Adriana & Dylan, cheers 🙌🍻🍹
We know of chai but surprisingly have never run into him haha!! 🤗🤗 cheers!! 🤗
wat is a temple and chadee is normally used to house the remains of monks, kings and other relics chadee are usually in a wat (temple)
Oh yes I see 🤗🤗
Wat is a name in thai.
That’s interesting! Thank you very much 🤗
Some people want to turn Thailand into a vast Protestant church and in a Muslim mosque.and they have deserted everything with zero fun. There is no comparison with our beloved Bangkok. Unfortunately, Thailand was spoiled by Europeans who were complacent with what they saw and returned to their homelands impressed. I wouldn't change Bangkok for anything, I love it.
We love Bangkok too!
great stuff guys👍
🤗🤗

@@2Passports1Dream I understand that, I was pointing out other instances where tourists can be fined with regards to motor cycles and the pitfalls to avoid.
Can you write us the name of the restaurant and the dish you had …
The restaurant is linked in the description box below the video! 🤗 the dish was called Khao Soi 🤗
@@2Passports1Dream got it I rewatched the video .. looking forward to your next videos as we will be there soon !! Maybe we will meet up at some point as we are in Thailand for the 45 days visa YEH TO THE EXTENSION

That is Bumrungburi Market at Pratu Chiang Mai. I miss that place
🤗🤗 very lovely place!
sorry to see you got in to the mess and hopefully it didn't rune your trip.
Wat Chedi Luang is def my favorite. I could spend a year in Chiang Mai and maybe see all the temples. I watched a man recoat the reclining budda my last trip. Cool to photograph. Enjoy your trip!
Oh wow no way! It’s definitely so beautiful and serene 😍🤗
Very rare to get your scooter "booted". It would only happen in a market area.
It was near the market 👀👀

Thank you very much! 🤗🤗 yes it’s so lovely here 😍😍
The day got off to a bit of a hectic start with an unplanned visit to the police station.
Yes it did! At least it was only 400 baht
Cool video
Thanks Paul!
So sorry you got chained up! This exact thing happened to me once, in Vancouver. I didn't see a small handicap sign near the street parking spot. They towed my car and, all told, it cost me $275 to get my car back. Crazy. It's sometimes easy to miss these things, eh?
Wow that’s a bit more than 400 baht!!
@@2Passports1Dream Most expensive date ever! 555
Can't belive they started locking up bikes again. So frustratating.
So, it means Chiang Mai has come back to normal.
Haha yes it’s not ideal 😅
@@weekdaycycling I guess, but not the best way. It's much the same here in Phuket, trouble with Police. Was hopeing they would stop that forever.
@@OurPaidVacation It’s time to make money after a long time of financial shortage. Police know how to get advantages from innocent tourists. Local people usually know what to do and what not to do.

We just left CM and did a few vlogs on it. While we was there we got stopped by the police on the moped and they fined us even tho we had all the right documents to drive. It definitely left a sour taste in our mouths but the ppl was so amazing and friendly. Really enjoyed the video guys ❤
That’s very frustrating! It’s definitely one thing that’s less than ideal… but luckily it’s outshined by all the other lovely things and people 🤗🤗 cheers guys!!
if you had your passport, an International driving licence, insurance from the rental and wearing a helmet, you cannot be fined, so did you ?
@@delboy8482 so you need an international driving license to drive a moped in Thailand ??

Gautama buddha already mentioned 2500 years ago that he was the final reincarnation. No more buddha on earth after him. Of course the universe is big. There are other worlds and other buddhas. He can see his past lives and also ascend to heavens. His father knew he was a special child.
Very interesting 🤗 thank you for sharing that!
Greeting from Chiangmai 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hello 🤗🤗🤗
@@2Passports1Dream thank you for reply me knob khun krup 🙏🏻😁
So. I am in Chiang Mai. Where are you?
We are in Laos 🇱🇦🤗
Don't park your vehicle where red and white are labeled beside the road. you'll be fined. Sorry for that guys and thanks for your politeness . I see some foreigners ride without helmets which is against the traffic law and many of them seem to take advantage of the police who don't stop those foreigner because they can't speak English. I ,whenever see this , would tell the police to stop the foreigners who voilate the law. We understand that some Europeans intend to pretend not to abide by law.
We always wear our helmets - not only because it’s law but because it is safer!! 😍🙏🏼 thank you very much - we learn more about the rules every day!
Happy in thailand
Now, i really liked you two...then I find out your are scofflaws! :) haha j/k. glad the parking ticket worked out fairly easily!
Hahaha we thought we were doing the right thing. Hope you don't hare us :( hehe
I tried to get a coffee one minute before 10...she was already closing the shop :D But there is a second one :)
Hahaha oh no! She’s punctual, that’s for sure 😅

Thank you so much 😍🤗
I have a 5$ lock picking kit works very well on the cheap locks in Chiang mai.
Haha imagine the police catching you doing that 👀👀
@@2Passports1Dream scamming tourist with motorbike is not ok, tje parking is one thing when there is a sign but they will sling that thing when they can no tourist is going to fight it. 10 seconds and the chain is off.

Oh, what a pity! Paying for ticket since morning.
Expensive morning!
😋
😀
Hey, you paid odd-even day parking charge. Me too (at Bangkok). Increasing your Thai experience, bro. Enjoy ! 😀
Hahah we feel more Thai ever day 😅😂
The sign says "ham jort odd days... no parking odd days..." quite clearly... now you might think it is not in English - - but then again in your home country they don't have signs in Thai - do they? But, not too expensive and you can learn a little.. or pay as you go.
The funny part is that we parked here on an even day… so we were even more confused!
@@2Passports1Dream ha ha... sometimes that happens.. I paid 400 baht for turning on a red which was legal... no sign prohibiting it... but sometimes you just have to pay up and forget it..
