Can someone explain to me the idea of skill drain in the side deck? Is it only use going first to negate everything after using fenrir?

The idea is that skill drain beats basically everything if you go first. You can also set up shang, flip skilldrain, and then pop skill drain on your own turn with planet if you want to start playing
