    Recipes - We don't measure much in our home cooking but here's a guide for what we made to help you:
    Lemon Pound Cake:
    3 tbsp ground flax + 6 tbsp water - mix together and set aside to congeal
    Mix together 3/4 cup coconut oil (poured into a liquid measuring cup), 1 cup coconut milk, 3/4 cup water, 1 1/2 cups coconut sugar, 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp almond extract.
    Add flax eggs, zest 4-5 lemons and add the juice of 4-5 lemons.
    Mix in 5 cups whole wheat/home milled flour, 1 1/2 tsp baking soda. Once mixed you should get a thick pancake consistency. (consistency may vary depending on what flour you use, add more or less and adjust if needed)
    Bake at 375 F for 50 mins
    Biscotti
    3 flax eggs (3 tbsp ground flax seeds + 6 tbsp water)
    3/4 to 1 cup coconut oil (poured)
    1 1/2 cups coconut sugar
    2 tsp vanilla/almond extract
    3 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda, pinch of salt, 2 handfuls of chopped nuts
    Bake at 375 F for 12-15 mins, take it out and cut into strips. Return cookies back on a baking sheet and bake at 425 F for another 7-8 mins until crispy. Let cool completely then serve dipped in a nice cuppa!

    I grew up on traditional lasagna with all the cheese and meat in it. It's one of the things I have really missed eating plant based. But, seeing this- well I am just gonna have to give this a try. Grace you have a beautiful smile and you are already becoming a really good cook!!

    Love how you involved all the kids in the kitchen. You are teaching me how to cook vegan can be easy. I want to help my husband to get away from meat. TY! How do you keep your kitchen stocked up? Did you have a weight problem prior to going vegan?

    • @thehaipath
      @thehaipath  2 місяці тому +2

      Thank you for hanging out with us and for your support it means so much to us. I used to be like your husband, I was a huge meat eater and I went plant based cold turkey. I would suggest making him dishes that have the same tastes as meat dishes for example, if he loves a good meat sauce for pasta, make it with some meaty mushrooms/lentils, etc. it’s usually the flavors and textures are what people are familiar with and “can’t live without”. But in fact, if you make it with veggies, it’s the same thing 😉
      Our kitchen is stocked every week with fresh fruits and veggies, we buy grain like spelt, quinoa, chickpeas in bulk on Amazon and that’s lasts us about a month per order.
      Do you shop more than once a week for groceries?
      Also yes I did have a weight issue when I went plant based! But also I am a huge lover of carbs 😭 which does not help whether vegan or not haha!
      I’ve found being plant based has definitely helped with my weight because I’m consuming more fiber! Are you struggling with weight issues too?

    • @flyswapple
      @flyswapple 2 місяці тому +1

      @@thehaipath thanks for the tips. Yes, I do have a weight issues but I just think it’s menopausal. I’m 60 years young, 5’2 about 140-145 depends on what I eat. I love carbs! I think it’s an Asian thing, you know. I’m trying to stay away from dairy but it’s hard I love cheese and ice cream. I have been grinding my own wheat to make sourdough bread Which I love. I do shop more than once a week. I think I live at Aldi, I know everyone works there. 😂 I do intermittent fasting my window 19-5. I think it’s helping me to keep my weight at bay. I noticed you used spelt flour, why spelt? I stopped eating meat because of ethical reason. TY and God bless you and family.

    • @thehaipath
      @thehaipath  2 місяці тому +1

      @flyswapple I am also short 5’ 1” I am averaging 136-138 lb at the moment perhaps we can both relate being asian and short and love to eat and eat carbs 😝
      Where are you from originally?
      I have a video I was thinking of doing, basically my grocery routine every week! Maybe this will help? 🤔 I’ve gone through figuring out what we need roughly for each week and have fine tuned our grocery trip where we go once a week.
      We chose spelt because it’s an ancient grain, it has not been modified it’s one of the original grains and the molecular makeup of it is smaller and easier to digest on the body. You should give it a try!

    • @thehaipath
      @thehaipath  2 місяці тому +1

      @flyswapple also try making cashew/coconut milk ice cream! Hemp milk and nut milk is quite good too and easy to make! Cheese is a bit harder but some “cheesy” foods can be made vegan like lasagna cheese or Alfredo sauce

    I’m new to your channel but have watched a few videos already! My family is split, I’m the only one that eats fully plant based. I’m working on getting my two boys to eat more plant based meals but I have to hide the veggies most of the time. Did you have to start that way with any of your kids? Just curious.

      Hiya Brii! Thank you so much for tuning in and joining our chaotic humble family 😃
      When we started we went cold turkey and just did it. We said “this is what we’re eating from now on” and tried to make foods that were family friendly.
      If you haven’t yet, watch some of our pasta videos! Those recipes can easily be used to hide veggies for the kids, how old are your two boys? I’ve found the earlier you start them the better!

      @@thehaipath thank you for the reply! They are 12 & 6. My 12 year old will eat pretty much anything, he tries a lot of my meals. My little one I can not get to eat vegetables! I have tried pastas but I know he’s not going to want pasta every day.

    Wow, that kitchen of yours gets quite a workout! Love how everyone works together :)
    I know you are a very busy mom, but I do have a question for you... I have noticed several times how you talk about garlic as a blood thinner. From one mom who is interested in healthy cooking to another, if you would elaborate on why this is something you want to avoid as a family, I would love to hear your opinion.
    What about food combinations? We love garlic with greens and love it with tomatoes. Greens and tomatoes lean toward blood coagulants, correct? Therefore, would you say these two are great combinations to eat?
    Again, it appears you and your husband have done a lot of research to feed your family well. Any commentary on this would be super helpful! Take care and Happy Spring!! ❤

    • @thehaipath
      @thehaipath  2 місяці тому +2

      Hello there friend! I am a lover of garlic 🧄 I have mentioned this on other videos but I myself have a blood condition and I need all the blood I can get! I will use it occasionally but not nearly as much as I used to.
      It’s the vitamin K that’s a coagulant in greens but you’d have to eat a TON, extremely high amounts to have that effect. Opposed to garlic, you only need a little bit to have the blood thinning effects.
      Using your logic, the same thing can be applied with vitamin D and K. If you’re getting sufficient amounts of vitamin D through sun/supplementations, vitamin K is being utilized to carry calcium into the bones.
      However, if you have certain dietary restrictions or have known blood clotting issues definitely consult with a doctor or practitioner regarding this.
      Happy Spring, hope this helps!
