    I had the GTE rim on my T300 for a couple of years until i got the 599 Evo rim on a deal for just over £100 which was crazy low. Amazing rim. Feels awesome given the bugger size. Love it. Also, i’d advise to use gloves to prolong the alcantara. I do, and it is literally as good as new after about 8 months of use. 👍🏻

    appreciate the video good sir. I also agree that the 599 is the better deal. but i will say to the people. i've owned the wheel for 2 years now. and even at 1 year. My alcantara has been severely flattened out where i hold the wheel.
    I don't know how much racing we do comparatively. but i think it rather depends on how much the person perspires through their hands while racing. if its even a slight bit, i recommend wearing gloves.
    I've since started after about 8 months in to owning the wheel. wish i would have started earlier. and gloves can make your wheel feel one tier higher than it really is. alcantara or not. give it a shot.

    "599 Evo Should be a $50-60 difference in price"
    Plz..don't give them any ideas lol
    We already pay a lot of $$$ for their terrible QC.
    BTW bud i mean this as light hearted as possible and your videos are really great. One thing that's hard to find with sim equipment is someone who's unbiased and honest about the s stuff we buy and use, and I really respect your honesty.
    An even better wheel I found is the sparco "338 and or 388?" Ugh.. the rally wheel. I didn't think I would like the TX stock wheel period so I got the T300 RS-GT and thought the stock wheel was better yes but I would quickly want to change over to the EVO 599,but actually the stock T300 wheel "Though looks small" feels very good and you don't even notice the size once your in the heat of racing.
    Now I only weight 120lbs and I'm 30 so I'm a fairly a small guy so it's possible that's why the 11" size doesn't bother me, but here's my breakdown so far..
    -EVO 599 (13"): Good for someone who has larger hands and doesn't mind the "lesser button layout"
    -GT Leather (11"): Just get a Stock T300 wheel trust me.. it's the same size and pretty much the same feel, not to mention you have a lot more buttons you can program. (Can be found used for $60 or less)
    -Sparco 388? Rally Wheel: Is the best of both worlds. The equivalent to the T300 wheels # of buttons and has the 13" diameter of the EVO buuuuttt!! Comes with an average $200-230 price tag, but I have found for around $180 at times on ebay.
    Summary..
    -T300: Good amount of buttons, but small diameter + Cheap ($60 Used)
    -EVO 599: 13" Diameter but less programmable buttons ($180 New)
    -Sparco Rally Wheel: Good amount of buttons, 13" Diameter but premium price ($200-230 New)
    Hope this helps guys. Take care

    My only problem with 599 is when the PC game references buttons as A/B/X/Y etc. I don't have TM 28 GT but it seems those buttons are color coded on the top. Not only 599 doesn't have them color coded but I found they are quite chaotically placed.

My question is: my ferarri 599 wheel width is 28.5-29.6cm max at some places, its not 30cm 0_0, is it something to do with newer wheels? I didnt find anyone measuring wheel on internet.

    Both are great rims, however. I have the GTE rim and the GT rim and i use both for very specific uses: GTE is good for GT and heavy race cars because it's heavier, whereas the GT is good for F1 and rallying because it is lighter.

    I just wish I could get the TX wheel base + The 3TPA pedals + the 599XX EVO wheel as a bundle (or at least for an ok price). I can go and buy the TX Bundle with the TM 28 GT, the base and the pedals, sell the wheel and get the 599 wheel instead, but that seems a bit...well. Or should I just go with the TX Leather kit (inkl the 3TPA). It looks tiny! Oh, and is the Bundle with the TX kit ONLY avaliable in "leather" these days, and is that the material you want?

      It has been some time since I looked at thrustmasters pricing and bundles but I know in the past sometimes the items they bundle together don't make much sense. I think you would be happy with either rim but the 599 is surely the better wheel. Also if you can find a way to skip the pedals that come with the TX you will want to because they are not very good. Both t3pa and t3pa pros are much better.

    Good job - how do you get on with twist not button? Are they reconfigurable? PS4 uses twist for pause... bit difficult to operate quickly when retrying

    • @DanDiMaggio
      @DanDiMaggio  6 років тому

      randallpatrickc I haven't really been too crazy about them on any of the rims. Personally I think a standard button/buttons would have made much more sense but I understand they did it because they are supposed to be direct replicas. They can be mapped to anything. Technically it is one button and two axis. Twist in either direction and there is also a solid click when you press it like a standard button. Only sim I use it on is American Truck Simulator. The click is to engage cruise control and I twist it to speed myself up or down.

      @DanDiMaggio  6 років тому +1

      papasmurf_hero OK so with Xbox compatability and around that price range you will be looking at something like the thrustmaster TX. It is a good entry-mid level base that you should be very happy with. There is a bundle available that goes for 300-400 and comes with the TX wheel base, the leather rim from this video and the t3pa pedals (3 piece). It's a pretty good bundle. It is currently out of stock on amazon due to black Friday but should be back in stock soon. Fanatec also makes a similar wheel but the range starts around $600. I personally have used a TX wheel since I started sim racing and have always been very pleased with it. But it's worth getting the bundle above because the pedals and rim the standard TX come with are not that great. Happy racing!

    A better wheel is the Sparco 383, 33 cm/13" wheel is suede and suede lasts and wears better, plus it is a real wheel size. Downside, suede does bleed for about a month or two... So wear some cheap gloves for a couple of months.

    • @DanDiMaggio
      @DanDiMaggio  6 років тому

      Yeah I have considered picking up that wheel as well. But honestly, since I picked up the TS-PC, I have been using the GT/Formula style rim that came with it mostly. I'm actually fairly surprised I like it so much. I've never really used gloves when sim racing up until recently. I never even used them the whole 2 years i was using the 599. Never had any issues. But the new rim's handles seem like they will wear out quickly so I have since started using a pair. Still feels unusual to me but I'm getting used to it.

    Nice review! I tried both, but unfortunately sent each back after a week. I run the T300 with the GTE rim, and wanted an upgrade....I didn't really liked the feel of the leather one, and the alcantara wore off after a couple of days and was a little too large for running single-seaters. So It's a thing of taste, I like the "rubber" GTE rim best, better than both upgrades :-) But I would pick either one over the "plastic toy Ferrari wheel"
    EDIT: Oh, and why the flat bottom on the steering wheel? Another thing to get around when turning (like modern Audis and Aston martin with the square steering wheel....what's up with that :-)))) )

    • @krazeytrucker
      @krazeytrucker 6 років тому

      Vlad Mares
      It's a D shaped wheel like you see in many GT race cars. Not good for drifting. Gives more leg clearance. Race car drivers rarely move their hands from the 9 and 3 positions. That's why you're seeing a lot more butterfly wheels in GT cars now like the one on the TS-PC Racer.
      You say you're using the rubber GTE wheel? Is that the Ferrari one? If so, curious why you switched to it from the stock T300 wheel cause they're the same wheel.

  • @OhItsThat
    @OhItsThat 6 років тому +1

    November 2016 I bought one of those Ferrari wheels brand new and it had one annoying issues. The flex between the rim and the button box made tons of creaking cracking noise. I found other people in the comments on videos regarding this wheel had the same problem.
    We contacted Thrustmaster and they basically told me to F**ck off. Had me send a video of the noise then say all do that...huh? Really? If that’s the case then they have some shitty QC.
    It was so annoying and loud at the time as I couldn’t use headphones when driving. I was so disgusted with Thrustmaster I couldn’t support their products anymore.
    So bought myself a Fanatec CSW V2, BMW M3 GT2 wheel, F1 Carbon wheel, CSW V3 pedals and the SQ shifter. Slapped some DSD button boxes on the sides of the V2 and a SRH G-Force display with Z1....
    What an upgrade that is from the T500 and Thrustmaster ecosystem.
    But that’s how angry I was over it. I had bought the T500 and the TH shifter two months before and was pretty satisfied with it for my entry into sim racing. But if you can’t stand by your products and support your customers...I don’t want anything to do with you.

    *Excellent force feed back!✠>**share4.photo/TGTRacingWheel?ハ ** The motor hums a little bit while you drive so when it's connected to a racing seat you feel the vibration in the seat of your pants and the pedals. The custom control knobs make it simple to use the multi function display while driving on track in GT Sport. You have to switch from GT mode to OTHER if you want to play other ps4 titles which requires you to restart the PlayStation as far as I can tell there's not an easier way. Wheel setup is tricky on F1 2017 as it doesn't recognise the T-GT. Instead you have to make a profile as a T500 and edit the configuration. I haven't yet been able to make this wheel perform on F1 as well as my old G29 does. Tried Dirt Rally and its great. Later I'll try Dirt 4 and Project Cars*
