Lee said he found out that the first gas engine tractor wasn't John Froelich It was by a company that Deering bought out in early turn of the century around 1900. As you say they didn't have a tractor of there own. they bought out John Chater first gas tractor built in 1889 . It has like a 4ft round flywheel maybe they used some ideas from this for their first tractor development
