Too much space 7.5 IGN
literally hey...the reviewer says its boring....what do you expect..its space!
CMONCMON007 well ofcourse its boring, no nonstop explosions duh
IGN: I'm just gonna ignore the tutorials
5 mins later
IGN: TOO MUCH SPACE
Pretty much
I mean not really the tutorials aren’t too helpful they could have been better
Can't believe they gave a game of this size a review just under three and a half minutes long...
well it is a port than a completely new game
CNN=fake news IGN=fake reviews
fox?
@@commissarkitty3553 no duh!
@@commissarkitty3553 you pass butter....
Why does everyone make elite to be this really difficult game? I learned everything i had to in a day, and decided to go exploring. I'm now 23k light years from SOL, and exploring nebulas and black holes is a total blast. Plus, planetary landings add to those beautiful vistas, so i never get bored. Elite will be a game you hate, or a game you'll lose your life to.
Random Person like no mans sky. You'll either hate, or love it.
Cameron Jackson A
Not to mention no factions, no multiplayer, the most simplistic combat system I've ever seen, and the fact the developers outright lied about what was in the game.
but in nuh mans skiii i just press □ to land so why do i aaaaaaaa
+Iggsy81 I know a lot of people that love No Man's Sky. Believe it or not, that game has a really dedicated fanbase.
Yep, over 1000h in game, and still a lot to do.
This game is the most underrated I have seen. I had never even heard of it until the other day. It is huge, has amazing depth, over 400 billion planets, different star systems and planets that play differently, enforced air space laws, planets under hold of different goverments and factions, different levels of security, great gameplay variation, choice, exploration, farming, politics, and is visually stunning. This feels more of a sim and does take hours/days of practice just to land properly. The taking off and landing procedures make me think the developers must have had someone on the team hired who had genuine aircraft flying experience which has really helped in giving it a flight sim feel (even if set in outer space). It's not for some reviewer to play for half an hour and decide it is boring. Worst review I have ever seen. This game deserves more exposure. This game is ground breaking in it's depth, design and detail and won't feel like any game you have played before. I urge people to give it a chance and if it's not for you then so be it. It's scale alone makes other games seem like childs play.
Can we go inside planets?
what I was really hoping with this review is that they were going to include some of the new features and fixes that have been added after their review of this game 2 years ago, but they never covered any of that instead they pretty much just copied their last review of the game.
Colin to be honest they're probably doing the game a favour. Although things like combat, ship customisation and such have come a long way, and community goals are still nice, most of the features added haven't had much of an impact. Power play is at best organised chaos, with low player retention. Arena (which was mentioned) was practically dead last I checked it. Planetary landings are next to pointless as you can't really do much down there. Trade is still more or less what it was when the game started as is the case with exploration which was pretty bare bones to start with. The engineers are ok, but most of their upgrades are combat focused, with very little for non-combatants which only serves to emphasis how dull and under developed none combat play is. Oh and the continuing story is pretty dull.
I like the game, have done since it came out, but its progress has been a bit hit and miss and a lot of players are becoming increasingly unhappy.
Thumbs up to forward viewers onto Obsidian Ant,
he's the guy for the best of Elite ..
That was about the most useless and shallow review I have ever watched.
Who the hell decided to make reviews below 4 minutes?
Reviews are supposed to help us decide whether or not we want to purchase a game. You didnt say much of anything.
NeonR3D IGN is lazy unless it's Call of Duty or any hype game. I remember they gave an amazing review to No Mans Lie and we all know how that turned out
NeonR3D yea I'm still confused what sort of game this is. Bad review.
No mans sky got a 6.0 rating and the video was 3:47 long............
dunn hill Whatch the review from Tom renegade.
Very poor review. This game is massive and it got a few minutes?
IGN is in the pockets of all large game corporations. That's why call of duty gets consistent 9.5's guys.
Goldswitch its all about money...
Goldswitch elite should have gotten a 2
Goldswitch Didn't the last one get a 3?
what cods constantly get 9.5?
BeBurger because all the 9yr olds are triggered and dislike
i like elite because you blaze your trail and no one directs you and you have ultimate freedom. its great that they dont hold your hand
Yes but there's no where you much want to go, not compelling to go there, but I agree, I like that it has freedom and not hand holding
Ive put hours and hours into this and had no lag. loving it so far
This review barely covered anything in the game. Good job.
IGN: "Space is too big. Gonna have to dock the game some points for that..."
They guy reviewing this game is clearly not who this game is aimed at, "I'm bored... let's shoot stuff" if you get bored after 100ly you really don't have the stomach for this game.
VERY FAKE REVIEW! ....SAD! BIGLY DISAPPOINTED!
CNN = fake news IGN= fake reviews !
But you deserve a Federal Corvette at least, or a Farragut class Battlecruiser
This review told me NOTHING ! :O I have no idea what the game is except that No Mans Sky is beautiful and this looks realistic.
What is the game here?
RenegadeRocks go watch other review instead they not even cover all the part of the game and it not even detail
Maybe need to give them money to get good score and detail review lol
RenegadeRocks check out Obsidian Ant video's on YT
RenegadeRocks Check out Tom Renegades review
how are the frame rate problems in 2020?
This was uploaded in 2017 you goose
Wow.. I feel like you completely missed the point of a game like Elite Dangerous, go back to reviewing COD mate
don't let procedural systems scare you off..it works well in elite.... the guy landing in this video cracked me up.... it's a simulator... which means it won't be easy...if you like space and simulators this game is awesome.
Im having a lot of fun with this game...a lot more than any other space game out there....this should tide me over until Star Citizen.
I would give Elite 8.75... the updates in the future will prob raise that score since frontiers updates actually add a lot to the game
Matt it's really boring and mundane. Grindy and monotonous describes this game well....
Where is the planets update? Did they not release that on PS4?
Can i exploring the interior of the base or my ship now?
Is it like eve? Or is it single player with multiplayer bolted on? Not clear what sort of game this is.
Yes, the learning curve is steeper than other ordinary games, and yes, no one is holding your hands to show you which direction to move, but that's actually some of the things I love about this game.. Also, there is a ton of things to do and this review didn't even cover a fragment of all the possibilities this game offers!
Just like to say on the pro with the performances option the game plays beautifully. The steep learning curve allows you to get the most out of this once you get it down.
It really makes you feel like your Elite & Dangerous.
One of the worst reviews of the PS4 version of the game I have ever seen. Made terrible points and couldn't even say anything good about the game. Which the good outweighs the bad exponentially. And on the whole landing thing, first off whoever was flying into that landing must be legally blind, and second it's as simple as slowly lowering the power as you get closer and switching to alternate control once you're close. The only valid point was the frame rate issue.
lol Mobius - he obviously felt landing in the last 20m at 29m/s (1.7km/minute or 102 km/hr) was something that could be done with less laggy controls
Hillarious!
Hmmm, at 380m/s you'd travel just over 15km in 40 seconds
Daniel - its a common issue, if someone can't do something at super high speed, it can ONLY be because of FPS - suggesting its because of physics and reactions is simply irrelevant in most cases lol
Ever had a conversation with the guy who points out the poor hammering of nails in their pride and joy - because of how bad his hammer is?
IGN please take this terrible video down. Why not talk about Exploration and Galactic powers? Nothing was mentioned about the centre of the galaxy or black holes. This review doesn't do Elite justice at all.
Things left out in this review:
Community Goals
The galaxy map
Procedurally generated systems
Galactic powers
Black holes
Different world types
Forming wings and playing with friends
Beautiful Nebulas
So much more. Please IGN sort it out.
Fernando exactly i play on pc
They are all about simplistic AAA games and any game said game developers pays them to review. I haven't had any screen tears or frame rate drops since launch. I love the steep learning curve, exploration and grinding just like any other mmorpg. Also notice he has low lvl ships which proves the limited playtime in the game. I give ed an 8.5 of 10 for now and expect that rating to increase once the return of the thargoids patch is fully released.
"Things left out in this review: (...) *Procedurally generated systems*"
Given No Man's Sky's abysmal trainwreck with that... can you really blame them for leaving it out? Hell, it might even attract new players if they DON'T mention it! LMAO
I approve this statement
7.5 isn't a bad score but i would have given it higher... you have to be a patient player to play Elite...I can see where the difficulty would lose a lot of people
Can you please review implosion on the Nintendo switch. It looks like a fun game but there aren't many reviews for it and I want to make sure that the game is good before I get it
Is it any better on PS4 Pro? IS there a Pro patch or does boost mode improve issues with 'laggyness' etc. ?
I have played various versions of Elite on the Amiga, PC and other systems in the past and I have always enjoyed them.
All those versions did not run that well either... at least not on my hardware at the time.
Well I play on Xbox one X and I don’t have any frame rate issues so odds are yes there will not be frame rate issues on ps pro
$12 on the Playstation store right now if you have PS+. I'm trying to gauge if I should buy it, seems like a pretty good deal from what I found.
is this like escape velocity
😭i cant even play. Error code on menu screen everytime
Is there a large player base on PS4?
What about PS4 pro support?
its not that hard to learn in all honesty keep in mind this is from a site that said fire pro wrestling returns had hard controls -.- lock up was automatic from there it was press on the d pad and press x or square or circle triangle is to whip basically what im saying is make up your own mind with games
Why is this the first time I’ve heard of this game. Three years later 😱
Fell in love with this game since it was free in Epic store. Wondered how on earth such a great game went under my radar- this reviews is probably a factor. None of them do the current product justice. Seeing how Souls games are in fashion now, I think a lot of ppl will like the brutal learning curve lol
Call of Duty, repetitive, uninspired, iteration.... 9.5 out of 10.
This reminds me of...
_Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare_ - 9.1/10 "Amazing"
_Alien: Isolation_ - 5.9/10 "Mediocre"
_CoD: AW_, the 11th title on the main series of a franchise that, by quantity, popularity and definition, set what "mediocre" means in this idustry (and even borrowed some of Titanfall's game mechanics), it's an "amazing" game.
_Alien: Isolation_, a horror game set in the universe of its homonym movie counter-part, in which the game score is actually made from the *original film score*; in which assets where modeled in minutiae, *according to the actual movie props*; in which in-game monitor screens had its contents actually *recorded into VHS by the designers, captured through a crt monitor, and then putted back into the game*... yes, this is the "mediocre" one.
I'm not judging the quality of any of these games, but there is surely a problem of definitions here.
i loved alien isolation my favorite horror game still top of my lidt above outlast but hell i didnt know they did all that for the game
Dr4gonkiller96 (PC) If you think no mans sky is fine then you're under huge denial.
I've bought this game week ago and i have never had so much fun. Elite completly enthralled me. The size, dogfights, the visuals etc. Wonderfull game. Omg and the sound, just pure perfection.
Does it support PS VR?
Yes it is hard but there is a certain satisfaction when you learn how to play.
I literally played 7 hours of tutorials and practice before I went in the actual game and am now starting to complete missions.
I do play vr on pc and it is one of the most amazing things to experience imo
literally looks like you have no idea what you are doing. input lag? youre loading in and its based off alot of momentum. thrusting foward full speed means you need to reach 0 thrust to go reverse lmao. science
I wanna get into this game but i just cant grasp the controls. ive tried on several occasions but fail each time. i think ill try once more but with youtube guides this time....
yungfelix17 you can customise over 200 controls in the options menu BTW
There's also HOTAS to consider - now a US$70 unit will improve that a ton (the Thrustmaster T will just plug into either a PC or PS4) and then choose the appropriate controller in Options - there are a bunch of Elite-HOTAS reviews in UA-cam
If you have a PC, there's something called VoiceAttack, a very very cheap utility program that allows you to bind keys and key combinations to voice commands - you can even, if you want, get an HCS VoicePack (a little more expensive) that is designed to work with VoiceAttack and has preset commands and keybinding with an AI voiced by many famous actors, voice actors and a couple of well know gamers - all of these also have streamers using them
All you need is accelerate w, decelerate s, roll a and d , lateral left and right q and e, shift for 100%throttle while held and ctrl for -100% while held, the rest is mouse aiming
Is it psvr compatible
That was IGN's review? Back to other reviews not uploaded by IGN
This game is geared for a certain audience who doesn't mind devoting their time into one game 100%. People like me would easily give this game a 10 out of 10 only because it is my type of game. Just because i love this game doesnt mean you will. That being said id still encourage you to try it for yourself just to see if it's your cup of tea. Elite Dangerous definitely deserved at LEAST an 8.5. This is my favorite game of all time and i dont think another game will topple that for me. See ya in the Black CMDRS!
this guy is dead wrong about this game it's a great game I've been playing it since day one look up another UA-camr instead of this person
7.5, carry on...
Ancient Dolphin From The 70's You're welcome, love...
This game is $9 on xbox one digital right now, i was thinking about grabbing it
Well, if crash bandicoot remake is an 8, Elite Dangerous is a 180. For me Elite Dangerous is one of the best games that ive been playing in years and technically has impressed me like the jump from Fallout 2 to Fallout 3 a decade ago. Im playing it in ps4 pro and runs smooth and beauty.
I grew up playing space sim since when I was kid in early 90's with PC. This type of genre is something that console gamers will have difficulties understanding. If you are getting into this genre, just be prepared and know that this is not like your typical games found on console. To some may see this as terrible game but few will probably see this liberating.
One of my friend played this game on the PC. It was his first space sim. He said something that made me kinda wonder. He said he had no idea how he was preconditioned to the gaming expectation with console gaming. This change of pace in game made him realize there's more to it then just games I'm used to.
If you do get into this game, do yourself a big favor and upgrade to PC. Space sim revolves around atmosphere. Having the options to use HOTAS or even multiple monitors to increase immersion will change your perception into this genre.
Don't expect too much from this game as that's not what it's offering, it's a Space simulator at it's core NOT a hybrid indie game like No Man's Sky so It may be mundane and a drag to play at times but if you can get past the learning curve and the grind it is a very satisfying and addicting game.
This is a great game, the best part about it is learning how to play
Sounds like a great game for VR
I started playing this on Tuesday on the PS4, easily my favorite game. This game is a classic! The reviewer should stick to cod.
“stick to COD” 😅
Facts.
Um, did he not get past the viper?
I'm glad i read the comments, cus i almost marked this this one off based on the review
WHAT HOW COME I NEVER HEARD OF THIS AWESOME GAME 😢
why do ships look like blocks of cheese?
Some manufacturers do that
Didn't even mention the faction wars and multi-crew piloting? Wtf? Did you play for an hour and call it quits?
PSVR mode is needed, even if its low res
I don't get certain people here. I've played ED since release and this review nails pretty much everything. It *does* get boring after a while regardless of what you're doing. Hopefully though, things will get better with the Beyond updates. And I'm thrilled about the "personal narrative" and the engine upgrades (ED has the worst case of aliasing I've ever seen). So I'm very hopeful. :)
Y’all do realize that the grandeur of this game is the travel right so it’s not just going from one blip on your map to another the fun of this game is meant to be going between the blips...it’s not the destination it’s the journey
the landing for everyone can be fixed for everyone since there is a landing computer which is auto pilot for landing because trust me landing with a keyboard and mouse isn't an easy talk either!
Elite's appeal is it's open-universe that lets you do whatever you like. I did nothing but mine and occasionally trade for my first year. Never fired a shot at anyone (apart from shock mines to occupy the occasional pirate as I escaped).
By the time I switched over to hauling passengers, I was allied with most of the factions in my home system and the neighboring systems, so they all had good contracts for me.
Right so im gonna get the game. Can anyone give me advice on how to learn the game ?
What about story? Are there any missions to do? RPG Elements? What about ship upgrades? How many ships are there? Can I buy buildings or have my own fleet (like I could in the x series - and the first x game is already close to be 20 years old). This review give me nothing..
"Good" ? Shame on you.. This game is a MASTERPIECE.
Is the game free?
It almost feels like IGN has already reviewed this game. Either that or its a weird case of Deja-vu
I came here to figure out what this game was about and in true IGN fashion by the end of it you failed to explain anything about the actual game.
My mining fed corvette can make 4 mil/hr :) Not to mention my trading cutter...
Top tip for when you have to travel a lot: Just start Netflix or UA-cam on your cellphone or tablet.
I can't think for the life of me with all the money and popularity IGN has , why don't they employ some proper passionate gamers to do there reviews . Such a shame it's got so commercial , in the old days IGN did great reviews with some great passionate staff ....
someday IGN will get credit for being honest and pulling no punches in many of their reviews. Someday :)
This looks like an hardcore No man's Sky haha but without landings and grinding I guess?
I love Elite: Dangerous but, on PC. I can imagine on a PS4 this game doesn't work very well, on PC if I'm bored I'll open netflix or spotify to pass a long haul or a flight to Hutton Orbital. Also this game without a HOTAS and on a game pad must be a pretty bad experience too as there are so many things you'll want a button to do.
they show absolutely NOTHING of this game in this video..
this is one of the worst reviews ove ever Seen
Definitely a fun time, but once you get to the end and get a nice big ship, the idea of grinding like mad to min/max my ship just put me off. I'd still recommend it as a decent distraction, but if you are looking for a game in the realm of Eve Online that lets you command big ships and explore a living galaxy with plenty of content, I'd look elsewhere
Score 7.5
+ Multiple choices
+ Arena
- Technical issues
- Can be boring
So IGN...what exactly did you review here?
I will forever ask for a better space game
Came to Xbox 3 years ago
The oculus review would've been much different than this
this is every space nerds dream, including me
Dog fighting racing arena And turbulence rings Like aliens on the amiga I'm hoping Dual controllers for PS 4
After playing many hours of NMS vs a few hours of ED I have come to this conclusion:
NMS is Coloring Books, ED is Fine Art.
For me it's 9/10 because of many reasons, some of them that weren't even mentioned in this review. This game is huge, and you did not mention even 1/10th of it. Thargoids, Guardians, engineers, books, community, freedom, exploration etc. this review should not even be shown because of it's unprofessional character. This game is not for everybody, that's for sure, but it's perfect for many, almost everyone liking Spacesim games.
Do what now? They are not kidding about the steep learning curve of this frustrating game. And the tutorials and infuriating. Attempting to land in a base and hovering over my pad, the game started warning me that I was attempting to land without my gear down, but no instruction on what buttons to push to do this. Searching extensively to find the control for lowering the landing gear, I found it in Options > Controls > Miscellaneous, but the control (Circle + D-pad down) only made my ship bounce around in the inside of that base. Later, I discovered I should have held the Circle button to bring up a list of D-pad flight options to lower the gear. That would have been nice to know in a tutorial.
IGN gets a 1.5 out of 10.
Again, no one talking about the greedy move to not let you land on planets without buying a season pass
The mining lasers on my ship don't work the lipets have to be restocked and when i go to a station to restock theres no way to restock the limpets ps4 version is a joke
played it.but ill stick with no man sky. ..and look at there new update thats coming
ultimate vr game?
yes
This kid must have never played another space sim, flight sim, or any realish sim game before.
I didn't either, it was actually my first game on mouse and keyboard ever, got it because of how highly my friend spoke of it..... Still got past the learning curve and ended up getting the game on 2 different platforms
I hate the phrase "Steep Learning Curve." That always reads more like "Dumb and/or Lazy."
It isn't that hard to learn, there is just a lot of it.
Joshua Cameron For IGN reviewers, "remembering to breath in and out" has a steep learning curve.
apparently the Controller Layout option was too difficult for the reviewer to find :/ I mean yeah there's a fair bit to learn about the ship but the basics don't take that long to get down, especially with a little help from the training missions
Joshua Cameron or people are too busy ? You know some of us have jobs, wives and children. We can't sit around for ten hours a day playing games.
it just means its to complicated for you
To much space?
what "Technical issues"
