love this show, no BS just good ol fashion straight takin.. cant see Broadsiding winning a Cox Plate on Guineas run i reckon they have to break 33.s for the last 600 to beat pride of Jenni..
Hey Jules, been on Evap his whole career after I spotted him in the trials. I think they shoudl just go to the paddock. He’s been average through the line every time at 1600, think 2000 is a big ask at this stage in his career. Lengthy prep I think he’ll be 6th up. Look after him he’ll be a future WFA weapon (next Brightside 😛)
Broadsiding was slow away on purpose, that way he could cross to the rails and get up inside a few others and not be stone motherless, it really was a 10/10 ride, circumstances didn't work for him when neither of Gai's went forward, conversely circumstances worked for the winner, he jumped well and the Gaibott horses weren't there, he was gifted the lead, JMacs was the better ride, D lane was a good ride but he took advantage of circumstances, which is what you expect from Good jockeys, If Gai's horses jump and run like they usually do, the field probably opens up and JMac probably gets the runs he needed, he obviously put some thought into it, he had a plan, it just didn't work because nothing went to plan for anyone, not even the winner, I am sure that wasn't the plan to lead, sometimes you are just lucky and don't know it!
The difference between Evaporate and Broadsiding is the fact that The Guineas was the Grand Final for Evaporate, The Cox Plate has always been the Grand Final for Broadsiding, Broadsiding could find 5 lengths on his guineas run, Evaporate might struggle to find another inch but they are only 3 once, I doubt both of them but they are untapped, you would have to find an excuse not to run them, not the other way around
Can't see a baby winning the Cox Plate if Pride of Jenni turns up, not that I am tipping POJ one way or the other, just that it will be a brutal race and that won't suit horses that are not genuine stayers, she doesn't have to come up for air, anything that beats her will have to be on their bike 800 to a 1000 from home, can't see a baby doing that, not even with their "light weight" This will be a better than average Cox Plate with the Japanese horse coming, it will take an exceptional 3 year old in the Octagonal/Red Anchor /So You Think class to win it in my opinion unless it falls away
