Y'all have to keep in mind that this vet gave this advice nine years ago. Especially in regards to essential oils. Used to be that lavender was the only one that was okay. But that is no longer true. I think the best thing would have been for this vet to have removed the video. Unless there is some physical reason or health issue that's preventing that. Or maybe she just doesn't care!🤷 You always have to read and watch many resources to find the most current and medically approved solutions. You have to be your cat's advocate at all times. ❤
I can’t believe this video exists from 10 years ago and it’s so hard to find. I feel like there’s a ton of videos that talk about introducing cats and the issue of an aggressive cat versus a passive one but nothing till now that talks about it specifically in and of all things it pops up when I look for cat attachment theory😂
I know right. It's not like cats have been existing out in the wild for thousands of years with a whole bunch of plants. They do prefer the modern cocktail of chemicals I believe. I read it in a book so must be true.
I think reforming is the best choice for both cats. Imagine being forced to live with someone you considered to be your enemy. I think your feelings don’t matter in that situation. You do what’s best for the animals.
I don't get it. This video and all the others when I search for "dominance behavior" comes back with aggressive. I have a very happy outgoing cat who loves his passive best cat bud, but he wrestles too hard.
When they get to a level that is not tolerated by you, correct it - Via distraction - Positive being 'HEY it's trick time/stimulation via food time(Don't give reward WHILE playing(reward hard wrestle) Negative would be squirt with water and chase them both from the spot, then distract with trick timmmmmeee. Just a suggestion, offer piñata toys after so they have a puzzle to work their mind. It's a lot of bouncing back and forth.
I've got a young female cat I found in street 3 months ago aprox. She is already fix, she is all about me, more and less with my husband but not nice with my dog and the rest of the cats at home (4). She's very territorial I would say but sometimes she hits me also and bite me
So I saved this cat's life because it was abandoned. He was very aggressive at the beginning and has become slightly less aggressive. But there is a problem - he does like to go after my other less aggressive cat all the time and ends up in his cage for 10 to 15 minutes every time. The other problem is that I have never known a cat with this many behavioral problems and I have had and loved cats my whole life and I have never met a cat I don't like, but I don't like this cat, you can't even pet him properly without him wanting to bite. I'm gonna send this cat to the humane society if I can't find him a home and I don't care if they put him down or not.
Cat needs trauma therapy 😿 cats same as humans when it comes to trauma. I wonder if microdosing might help them? I recently moved into a share house and the male psycho cat is aggressive towards my passive sweetheart female. I both feel compassion for him and want to drop him off in the bush. I find lavender soothing so going to try that first 😊
Seriously, you study Vet for years, degrees masters or whatever..and what u say is " the solution to you cats behavior is another home" what is that ? thats not even an advise, that's you as a vet not helping the cat and owner to find a solution, you are just washing your hands off the problem.. horrible advise.
But their may not be another solution. I'm trying to solve this problem with a new cat and my two older ones. I've exhausted just about every avenue. He may just be happier in another situation. I'm not giving up, but I can see it from where we are now and it breaks my heart.

hi Hafiz, may i know the update of the wild cat situation? are they running loose still? or they've been treated already? If not treated yet and how to catch them, - it is better for you to use a cat trap (put some food inside to lure them in) and it's the easiest to catch them, without both side having any injuries. Sometimes, the best solution is to put them in a room together and let them fight it out. Monitor it to be sure neither actually gets harmed (vs hurt...they'll hurt each other, but harm would be anything past minor scratches: ie, gashes, broken bones, etc...don't let it get to that point). Fur flying, a minor scratch here and there isn't going to be a problem. At some point, one of them will submit and the other will accept the submission and the pecking order will have been established. When it gets to be a problem is when it's constant and one of the two doesn't accept the other's submission or neither submit and it just goes on and on. The pheromones she mentioned are a good way to help. They calm the cats and cause them to be a bit less aggressive. You can get a collar that has a diffuser ball and put a drop of the pheromones or even lavender oil on that ball, which keeps it near the cat's head so it gets a full dose. Just be careful with essential oils and never use any oils that are contraindicated for cats, because they can mess with a cat's respiratory system. You can look up a list of cat-safe essential oils and which ones are good for calming (lavender is the top of the list). You might also take a look at their diet. There may be something off with their diet, too. A change in diet can cause a change in behavior. Working together with your vet, you can determine if there's something missing from their diet that can cause a behavior change.
