Ushinaitakunai may translate to “I don’t want to lose any more love”, but how it’s said in Japanese is more of “I don’t want any more of my love to die.” As a man desperately trying to hold on to what little love he has left, I felt that 100%

Just started watching Stampede and I honestly LOVE it. This song perfectly gets into Vash's entire character and headspace.

watched the entire thing. memorized the lyrics. then sang it and it was absolutaly fenomenal. another testament to tri-gun's absolute insanity to the anime community and a statement for the CGI anime lovers. 100.

The title TOMBI finally makes sense
The line "Chiisana tomoshibi to naritai" "I want to become a little light/torch" Tombi is probably a shorthand way of saying Tomoshibi, light/torch/lamp
Q.Q ... that just made me sad

I also read some time ago that tombi is a type of hawk in japan or something similar and during the song you can hear a hawk scream.. Maybe it's both. Not sure how accurately i remember that but it was something like that

I've never once heard a korean or japanese song I liked, but this is so fire. I would add this to my playlist even if I can't understand it.

Thank you so much! I'm really enjoying singing along with this
By the way, may I ask for the source of the art? Vash looks really cute here and I want him as my background, please? 🙏

I've seen multiple translations of this, and I notice how especially on the final line, in this case translated as "even here" was translated differently in others; the animé itself features a subtitle to the song, and it translates it as "not here", so I'm confused. Heck, even the bit that comes before it is different. You translate it as "there's a bright day even here" whereas the official animé has, and I don't remember the exact phrasing here, but something along the lines of that there's no place for Vash, that no matter where he goes, everything around him will break and everyone will die, which is definitely an important plot beat of Trigun Stampede. And yes, so is your translation, but... it just says two completely different things, and takes on a completely different way of looking at the same circumstances, that being either pessimistic or optimistic.
So I kinda wanna know if this is really just a mistake or... translator's interpretation. At a guess, I'd say it's the latter.

It's a bit confusing because it has a double negative.
      0:58
There's no border between today and tomorrow yet. Sleepless nightmares never end.
      1:05
But I never forget my hope. But a night that doesn't dawn into day (akenu is negative form of akeru) it's not here (koko ni nai).
The official English translation removes the double negative.
As a result, the "koko ni nai" sounded wrong as "even here" because it's literally "it's not here". But that's their choice, well.
What's more interesting to me is the choice of using "nai" that much in the lyrics. The "koko ni nai" is like a pun, an unfinished question of whether in that brighter future "Nai will be there", will he or won't he, it's Vash's wish to have him there. But the official translation lost all of that.

@@zaxele Thank you, that explains it. It's honestly things like this, and songs like this, that make me wonder if I should learn Japanese.

There's also the implication of using Nai in that lyric, since Nai is Knive's original name and what Vash calls him. koko ni Nai (Here Nai) or Koko ni nai (not here).

Double negatives in Japanese do not become a positive.

I've only heard the op version of this and decided to check out the full version. Looking at the words I felt emotional as kept listening. Towards the end it hit me good.
I've never seen Trigun Stampede or the original, but this is my sign to start watching it soon.
Ps: If anyone reads this can I watch Stampede right away or should I watch the original first?

Would suggest the original first - both dub and sub are loved. You'll get more of a slow-burn and build up for the main characters over the course of many fun episodic adventures. Stampede on the other hand will give a lot more revelations and backstory early on, so I think having seen the original version will let you appreciate it a bit more when you already have some familiarity.

@@the_markoman tbf I like a faster paced story tho. I loved how they still managed to develop the characters, especially knives and vash, while still keeping it so fast paced

English lyrics really don't work. The music is great, but a better song writer should take a swing at it. (NOT saying that's me. Lol).

this video's maker wasn't trying to write singable english lyrics here; this is just a translation. it takes a lot of extra work to do a translation that is ALSO a song in its own right. i'm sure you can find english lyrics for this song on youtube yourself.
