It's time! Can the Bug type prove its worth!? Don't forget to pick up your new Merch and rep your squad! Are you a challenge runner, or a hardcore nuzlocker? Perhaps both? silphspectre-merch.creator-spring.com 🔥
I actually have been thinking of some ways to give the Bug Type some more power. I was thinking giving them a type advantage over Ground types and make Bug Type moves super effective against Ground. And removing some of the resistances to bugs. Ghost? Fairy? Poison? These don't make much sense to resist Bug. We could also give Bug Type a resistance to water. But I'm not sure.
I always knew ab compound eyes Butterfree, but never knew Pinsir was so OP with such a big move set. That was impressive. Could have easily been a zero death run with different luck.
It's hilarious how insanely huge Pinsir's moveset got by the remakes cuz in gen 1, it was complete fucking trash. Where it only got toxic, rest and normal/fighting moves, not even earthquake or dig or something.
i also did a fire red bug only challenge recently with hardcore nuzlocke rules and parasect was actually really good in my run as it came in clutch with a few quick claw spores and it was amazing against misty as well cant wait to see how good it is in your run
Silph's Venomoth must have hit Sleep Powder without missing so often in this run, he mistook it's ability as Compoundeyes, when in reality, Venomoth's ability is Shield Dust
Three things: I'd love to know what the heck that Sitrus Berry noise was for. And "Look to the left of this sign!" means your character's left. And finally: Love the dry delivery of "Lapras simp." Wasn't expecting that.
The reason (I think) the Machamp used 4x resisted cross chop in the Bruno fight is because trainers in gen 3 always have a small chance to use moves with a high crit rate, like cross chop, regardless of the type effectiveness
Speaking of this, i attempted a bug hardcore nuzlocke of emerald, and after a total of 30 resets after the first gym(i didnt even count the amount of attempts it took to beat roxanne each time), i decided it might be impossible, would love to see someone else try it tho
That was Incredible seeing such a powerful bug type team. I especially loved Beedrill almost sweeping Lorelei and Venomoth with almost everyone else. Never saw that in a million years!
Over the years of playing these games, I have really developed love for all the creepy crawly mons throughout the generations. They always find ways to surpise as I tend to carry my mandatory early bug with me all the way to the end of the games. Just something that my young self started that I am glad I never grew out of.
I actually used a Paras/Parasect in FireRed. I remember catching one because I hadn't caught a new team member in a while. For most of the run she wasn't the best, but I remember being so glad at having her for Bruno. Having her for Solar Beaming his two Onix was so sweet.
I got sick last night and had a rough night of sleep, when I saw this video, I immediately felt better. I accidentally fell asleep on the first watch because I was finally able to… but hey, they video kept going so that’s good for the algorithm, right? Thanks for all that you do man. Keep it up!
Been on a binge of these videos. Got to say, I think Pinsir over Scyther cause you chose LeafGreen saved your ass since Pinsir has way better bulk, coverage, and isn't 4x weak to Rock. Pinsir (at least before its Mega) is seen as just a poor man's Heracross, but you did him some justice here, and its especially surprising since he gets no STAB in this game IIRC.
Seriously between this, the hardcore heart gold nuzlocke, Bugsy winning the Jhoto true power tournament, and Jeff the legendary spiniark; Silph makes the bug type look damn near unstoppable.
People consider Bug type to be the most abandoned and weakest type which is true SADLY but even so,Bug type is one of my favourite type in pokemon.Heck,I hate no type I just don't appreciate Fairy type much........ANYWAY,GOOD WORK BRO I AM REALLY LOVING THE SERIES!!!!!!!
It seems like it was really easy cuz you didn't lose any pokemon until the end, but really if you had a little bit of bad luck at any point the run could've ended
And fortunately, there were no deaths until the final battle either (though there were several close calls), the only battle where playing a little more recklessly is viable and can pay off.
I had the problem of losing to anything above level 2 when I was doing my pseudo legendary challenge. My Dratini only had wrap and leer until level 8 where it got thunder wave. I had to get up to level 15 before I had any chance against Brock.
First video of yours I've seen and really first nuzlocke video too. Really enjoyed it. Is trading against the rules of the challenge? Seems like a big disadvantage not to bring in Scyther in order to make a full team since there is so few bug types. Still great job and awesome strategizing. Subbed.
Nuzlocke Challenge Idea: "Dagger Challenge" - Hardcore Steel Monotype Challenge. - Can only use Steel-type offensive moves (Steel STAB). - Non-steel type moves are allowed, but only if they do not directly deal damage. - Any version, but recommend Pokemon Moon for an early Magnemite with magnet bomb
Im always listening to your nuzzlocke challenge every night it makes me fall sleep. . Dont take it the wrongway but your voice really sound relaxing. . And when i fall asleep it means no skips on ads. .
Leaf Green was my first ever Pokémon game and I chose Bulbasaur because as I kid I thought you HAD to pick the one on the cover. This video brought so much nostalgia upon me😂
I once heard a pro tip for grinding Held items: leading with Pokemon with compound eyes such as Butterfree gives you 20% chance instead of 5% to find a Pokémon with wanted item ;)
I literally said before the run started "Damn this is gonna be a total Wipeout and will take multiple tries to even reach the end" and then I kept eating my words as you do the whole run 1 attempt with no deaths til the end...... I'm shook
33:27 using rock slide on this and the next turn was a bit risky, if bulk up was used it would have guarenteed that aerial ace would not kill (without crit) and you would be able to deal enough damage the turn after to kill. Good job though, very fun and exciting run overall.
Call Prof oak creepy one more time, buddy. I dare you. He is a respected pokemon professor and you could only hope to attain half of what he has as a Pokemon expert.
Hahaha, 11/3, my man! This was shocking to see! Deathless until the champ, and even then, a couple misplays cost you a couple members. Pretty surprising, to be honest. Good work.
Loved the video! And for some reason I love bug pokemon and this challenge didn't look easy but still one of the easier ones of your monotype attemps so I wanna give it a shot on by gba from 2004! XD but I have fire red not leafgreen you think it would still work?
I just recently found your channel and subscribed after watching the first video! I have watched every single nuzlocke you have done and have been so eager to see you post a new one! Great commentary great jokes great content! So happy for this one and bug types are my absolute favorite!
I remember at least one Bug Catcher NPC from Pokemon Stadium that had a Bulbasaur on his team, I guess of the three starters it is the most fitting because it fits right at home in the woods where Bug Catchers often hang out.
People always tend to underestimate a good paras/parasect for misty, greanted its weak to ice, but its the perfect counter for starmie, with STAB leech life, and stun spore, starmie cant really do much at all. I loved this run, im doing my own leaf green run right now, finnally taking on the gen1-3 nat dex completion challenge. just something to do in my free time.
Wow Silph, very fun this challenge! I have to say, from gen 3 on Pokemon natures is one of the great features of the versions! It really makes it way more fun!

@Anna I didnt know that 😨
Challenge runner
Entertaining video and good job on the run!
How about trying LeafGreen with only Ground Types? Should be even harder(might allow day care).
I feel for you when lady luck came to see you at the end.
Should have just named the bulbasaur "bugbasaur", to preserve the integrity of the run.

Those speed EVs on Butterfree totally saved this run cause Beedrill would have gotten completely squished, well played 😊
That Blaine strategy was pure fire

Bro beating a pokemon game with the most abandoned pokemon type is crazy . I could hardly imagine it. But great strategy and great video😉😉

Yeah man I mean bugs have got much better since gen 3 but they're still pretty weak overall
I love bug type.
Gen 5’s bugs were pretty strong, so I think black and white along with black 2 and white 2 might be the best games to do a bug nuzlocke.
@@mr.tadpole1697 no
Love how this bug type(my favorite) run seemed easier than the others, despite bug type being weaker than most other types.
Lots of inventive strats in this run, which I really respect. The Blaine strat in particular was genius, and I loved seeing it come to fruition.

The sign that's talking about looking to the left of that post is referencing the hidden item in the empty spot in the fence to the right of the sign.
it went so well i didn’t even realize u had beaten the last gym until u said “it’s time for the elite four”.. kudos man!
You are a brave soul for doing a Kanto mono Bug type challenge, cuz Gen 1 has by far the weakest selection of them.
You even chose the one without Scyther, the actual best of the Bug types in Kanto in Gen 3.
